I'd like to see a thread about how you play the game - first or third person. If you play in third person, do you pull the camera way back?
Also, do you play in mouse mode or in target mode (mouse cursor vs. targeting reticle).
We're discussing adding additional functionality and/or other cameras as well as allowing users to remap any key... and what ramifications this may or may not have.
I play 3rd person i zoom out and use the "old" mousing method.
I enable "dead zone" or something. Basicly, i resetted up everything like the "old" swg.

Currently playing : Under NDA MMO's are drugs. Waiting for the next SW MMO (i know it's comming) I have a feeling... a big announcement is comming... at the end of the month... Hologrind KILLED SWG. Gimme Classic Server with no Jedi. Thanks.
I tend to play in 1st person, but enjoy pulling the camera back for the cinematics very frequently. I would hate to be locked permanently into either mode by the game.

Smed,
I have it mapped and use the view that most closely resmebles the CU interface. Letting us remap every key would be great!! Letting us auto lock instead of mapping an auto target macro would be better for the ENTIRE player base.

I tend to play in 3rd person. And yes, I do have the camera pulled all the way back.
If you really read this... PLEASE ALLOW THE SYSTEM TO SAVE OUR CAMERA ANGLES INSTEAD OF DEFAULTING ON LOAD! Everytime I shuttle of log in, I have to wrestle with the camera. And while we're at it, allow the system to center the camera again if we choose, like it was before the NGE.
I play in close 3rd Person mode on the ground. In Space I fly from Cockpit Mode.
Smed,
That sounds great to give us all the options to remap any keys again! That would be great. It took me awhile to get used to the NGE. In fact I remapped my keys to Pre-CU during the CU. And right after the NGE, I again remapped the keys to Pre-CU. I'm glad that you actually got modeless chat back, as it was painful to hit enter before. I've been so used to CTRL + Key that I just cannot change. Also modeless chat allows for easier access to bazaars and vendor panels.
I can't wait to get the righ click to walk functionality back again..
Third-person, scrolled all the way back, with field of view set to minimum.
I handle non-combat maneuvers (ie, just walking around), in mouselook mode using the mouse for movement, and most combat in cursor mode using the arrow keys for movement.

Used to play with the camera right behind me. I liked it that way. I don't use the mouse only, as I am somewhat used to the keyboard from Jedi Outcast and Jedi Academy. Can we get the camera back to right behind the character? For space, always in cockpit mode. Gives the feeling of almost being there. Fun being able to feel like your character is actually his/her own part of the Star Wars Universe.

I play 3rd person zoomed all the way out. I typically spend most time in target mode as it gives me the best control when moving my toon and only switch to mouse mode when I want to move through the options button.
Some changes I would really like to see again:
Let me use the mouse scroll button to switch between mouse modes.
Trigger actions on number press and not have to use right mouse to fire them
Give us a slider bar for character movement speed. I still find myself getting headaches after only a short time playing.
For PvP I use only 3rd person scrolled as far out as possible and sometimes scroll in for a better perspective but your FPS look is the stupidest5 I have ever seen so I refrain.
It would be nice to have a weapon showing in FPS mode so there was some perspective but you guys have time and again done the cheapest dumbest moves ever so I don't expect much

Personally I play in third person mode, with the mouse in cursor mode.
I'll ull the camera way back when I need a tactical assesment of the field, but usually I like to keep the camera close enough to see myself from about the waist up. I also don't use the chace camera mode, but I do use the WASD movement.
Basically as close to the old SWG as possible. I did give the new mode a fair chance, but the wild swinging of the view gave me headaches that I just couldn't get used to *pout*
