Yup, someone from SOE has finally stated officially that the professions for FSCS opening is RANDOM. The way I worded my question should have left no doubts.
"All the steps (not just holcron) are random, as has been stated in the past.".
I will, of course, continue along what I percieve to be my pattern (my theory fits in with the response GarVa gave, a randomly assigned pattern starting at a randomly assigned first profession. In my case, I believe my 3rd holocron will be either Architect, then Smuggler will open, or will be silent, and Architect will open. Either way, I'm pretty confident architect is my next profession). However, in light of this statement, I'll probably end up giving up on even that theory.
Anyhow, I've said many times I'll look at both sides and other ideas, regardless of what I believe, and I'd never hide information to further my own thoughts. Here's the official "debunking" (or attempt?) of pattern theories.
Laeri Tor'Zon 15 Masteries (in order): Marksman, Scout, MCH, Pistoleer, TKA, Fencer(H1), Medic, Combat Medic(H2), Bio-Engineer(H3), Pikeman(H4), Brawler, Entertainer, Dancer, Image Designer, Artisan, (Wrong on two possible pattern guesses for myself so far). Pre-guessing my opener: Swordsman or Weaponsmith.
The funny part is most people already knew this by looking at the data. Bt you will never convince a conspiory theriorist. Next they are going to say that Aliens came down and changed the SWG code to include set patterns.
I'm assuming this in reference to the 5th, unknown profession that the holocrons won't tell you, since everything we've seen indicates it's just 5 professions total (out of however many).

There is some evidence ( scant grant you ) that there are ways to open the slot other than just mastering the 5 profesions. Not enough data however to even support a theory yet.
but Q and/or Holocron (I forget which, possibly both) has said that it'd take players a considerable amount of time to figure out the pattern behind opening a Jedi Slot.

Nope.. no Dev has stated there is a pattern.
The thing to remember.. and no matter how much people want to hold onto this mastering random profession thing.. the professions are just a step! This is why the first jedi unlocked in 5 to 10 professions and now everyone that opens it masters 20+ professions. Bleh.. people will still hold onto the 4+1
/sarcasm Maybe GarVa tossed us a Red Herring, and isn't aware of all the changes that went in when they changed the manner of obtaining FSCS. /sarcasm off
Seriously guys, they've said it's random. We know it can't be "100% no question about it" random, but it can be "random enough". That means there will be some patterns that appear, and there will be others that don't have patterns. That's why I'm going to go ahead and follow what I percieve to be my pattern, simply because some patterns will still appear, even if the over-all theme isn't a pattern.
We know that the algorithm has to take into consideration the number 32 (or 33) at some point since that's the number of professions. With this limited number, there are going to be patterns, whether they were intentional or not. But, this explains why I've seen so many patterns that had 1 curve-ball in them.
Sorry, but I'm willing to say I was wrong, although I still think I had a **edit** good theory .
(Heh, funny to think I'm arguing the other side now)

Is it just me, or is Garva not a developer? I am not a fan of the pattern theory, or of any other theory out there. But, stating that a board moderator (please correct me if I am wrong) officially debunking the theory doesn't work for me either.
As am I. However, I felt it was important to post and try to get a response so that we the community could continue working together based on the facts as we know them. I've devoted a lot of energy on the "pattern" side of the fence, but over-all I want to be a productive member of the community.
I'm just glad they responded. However, I wish GarVa had simply answered "NO", as the response I did get can be taken ambiguously, which won't get rid of all the pattern theories (it doesn't truly debunk my own theory to be honest, but I'm giving it up for now based on this response from GarVa).
