Hello,

I wanted to impart the knowledge I've gained from doing the Holo grind in search of the elusive Force Sensitive Slot.  I've currently mastered 11 professions:  Brawler, Teras Kasi Master, Pistoleer, Image Designer, Entertainer, Marksman, Artisan, Scout, Ranger and Creature Handler. The silence is deafening.

1. Be prepared to master all 32 professions, if necessary.  The way that FSCS works (at least current theory) is that there are 4+1 professions you must master.  4 will be told to you by the holocron.  The fifth is random, one of the remaining 28 professions.  If you're not prepared, you will become very frustrated very quickly.  Enjoy mastering the professions as you go.  Smell the roses.  The game isn't going anywhere, you have plenty of time to get your FSCS.  It's not a race.

2. Holo hunting: There are a few ways to get holocrons.  For rebels, the easiest by far is the Imperial base south of Lake Retreat on Naboo.  The second easiest is Garm missions in Coronet.  You can also get them from Force Sensitives and Deserters on Yavin 4.  If you are hunting in an area that is camped, be aware that you need to have done more damage (as a group) than any other group to get looting rights.  This means that in the Imp base, find yourself a Commando and a TKM or else you will never get looting rights.  I personally got Holos along the way as I needed them.  My friend Jeep got all 4 up front so that he wouldn't have to go back to the Imp base.  To each his own on strategy there.

3. How should I use my Holos?  The current theory is that you should do all your Holos before you do any Basic Professions.  The theory goes that there are 32 profession, of which 6 are Basic Professions.  Basic professions can be done in a matter of hours.  Elite Professions can take weeks.  Leaving your Basic professions for after you're done w/ Holo professions increases the likelyhood that the random profession is a Basic profession.  In my case, I did Basic Professions first (and only used 3 Holos before they became silent) and now have to guess which Elite Profession is my fifth profession.  Again, back to the first point: Be prepared to do all 32 professions if you're looking to unlock the FSCS.

4. OK, so I got X profession, how should I grind it?

This is a short tutorial on each crafting profession, how to grind.  You can try different methods, but this is based on my research and experience:

Medic/Doctor/Combat Medic: Find a Marksman w/ 0002.  Have them /tumbletostand.  Heal away.  Get Doctor first.  Find someone to kill for Rez exp.  Kill, Rez, Repeat.  Once you're Master Doc, enhance people/pets to get Med exp for Master CM.  Crafting part: Get 25k Lok Wheat, Get 25k Tat Fiberplat.  Obtain 8 crafting tools.  Create a crafting macro.  Make 1400 ABECs for each.

Entertainer/Dancer/Musician: Join the biggest entertainment group you can.  Create a macro that does flourishes ever 4 seconds.  Have a /startdance command in the macro (you will eventually run out of action and will need to restart the dance sequence).  Leave your computer running overnight.  Always use the highest level dance/song/instrument you know, if possible.

Artisan: Make Tools.  Work up 3000 first.  Make Personal Harvesters to get to 4440.  Use a survey macro that /kneel, /survey, /pause 3, /sit, /pause 30, repeat.  You don't need action buff to use this survey macro.

Image Designer: Find a like-minded Holo grinding ID.  ID each other.  Find a Master Musician to buff your Mind Secondaries.  Pay them well so that they will buff you repeatedly (every 2 hours).  (I was able to master in 2 days)

Ranger: Get in a large hunting group.  Don't be so concerned about killing, just harvest everything that drops.  Join groups on Dantooine.  Harvest Bone and Hide.  Make a crate of Traps and trap the biggest thing you can.  Grind camps to get your camping exp (use the Bone and Hide you collected).  After you're done w/ your camping exp, make sure to harvest Meat (for use in Bio-Engineering).  (I was able to master in 4 days)

Creature Handler: Get a Cowardly Gurreck to get to 1100.  Upgrade to Grand Wrix/Greater Sludge Panther.  Get 1103.  Pull out Grand Wrix/GSP combo at 1303.  Join large hunting groups.  Hit everything once w/ your pets.  Use GW/GSP pair to mastery.  Harvest meat (for use in Bio-Engineering).  (I was able to master in 4 days).  Please note changes in CH will affect this grinding method.

Architect: Use the Grinding Macro again.  You'll need 550k Ore and 200k Metal.  Make Wall Modules.  DO NOT STAY IN PRACTICE MODE.  Sell them to a Master Architect for 8k a pop.

Weaponsmith: 450k Steel.  Grind Proj Pistol Barrels to 0200.  Grind Proj Rifle Barrels to Master.

Chef: 11k Fruit, 220k Wheat, 90k Corn, 90k Water.  Grind 1.1k Wastil Breads to 0020.  Grind Ithorian Mists to Master.

Droid Engineer: 500k Steel and 180k Fiberplast.  Grind Mouse Droids to 0002.  Grind Advanced Frames to Master.

Armorsmith: 100k Iron, 190k STeel, 70k Fiberplast.  Grind 2k AUKs to 3000.  Grind 5k Ubese Shirts to Master.

Tailor: 160k Steel, 40k Fiberplast, 100k Inert Petro.  Grind 1.4k Ribbed Shirts to 0400.  Grind 2k Cartridge Belts to Master.

Bio Engineer: 200k Flora, 90k Meat (from harvesting above!).  Grind Nutrient Suppliments to Master.  No good way to grind DNA, unfortunately.

Merchant: Buy and place 10 1-slot small Naboo Houses.  Get 10 of your best friends, and a Master Merchant to pay 1 credit to enter and exit each of the houses.

Smuggler: Get 50-100 Locked Containers and the same number of Molecular Clamps.

Fighting Professions: I leave this up to you to do.  I've found the fastest exp is a good group, but if there are folks that are doing too much damage, you'll get very little exp.  You'll have to balance whether you want to be in a large group if you're not dealing very much damage.  ALWAYS use a powerup.

Commando: Get 0040 first and kick some butt w/ a sliced FlameThrower with a Speed Powerup.

Squad Leader: Good luck!  LOL.

Bounty Hunter: Again, Good Luck!

OK, so those are my notes.  For those of you foolish enough to attempt this, good luck.  Please add any comments from your experiences.

This is a list from our PA boards, reads a lot like yours, see if there's anything new here, and good luck!

Medic: Step 1: Find a friend or two who will/can roll to kneeling against a wall. Let them macro that command about a trillion times, through the ActionUItoolbarslotthingie commands. Heal them. Over and over and over.
Also, get a pet with a High HAM and the highest wound packs you can use. Get a CM to duel you and DISEASE your pet for action and health. Then heal its wounds.
For crafting,  make BECs, and/or Advanced BECs.
Time to master medic: 7 hours + macroing for one night.

Doctor: Due to AMAZING wound packs, do the CM/pet/disease trick and macroing for crafting.

Time to master doctor: 10 hours + 2 nights of macroing of Adv BECs.

Combat Medic: Become a doctor first and use the doctor trick for all your med xp and crafting xp. There is no specific "combat medical xp" required.

Time to master CM: 10 hours + 2 nights of macroing

Scout: Go krayt hunting with a large group. Each harvest is 1k+ of scouting xp. Sitting in a camp with your pet, and faction pets, while creating camps from harvested bone/hide gives very fast camp xp. For trap xp, find a really, really crappy mob, use tons of traps on it while it wails on your non-CH pet, healing the pet occasionaly. Can create up to 40ish traps (until your inventory is full) and repeat hourly or so.

Set a camp before you go to bed, sit in it, and let sleep take you.  A free 600 or so camping xp per night.

Artisan:  Mastery in 1 night of macroing.

Architect/Armorsmith/Weaponsmith/Chef/Etc.: Mastery in 4-6 nights of grinding. Requires expensive training/materials.

Brawler:
unknown.

Entertaining Professions: use a macro to dance in a cantina in an unusual and dangerous location (Lok is a prime location) with many flourishes. Get a PA buddy to watch and create an /applaud;/pause 1; /applaud /pause 1/applaud macro. Each person who applauds you, (and perhaps cheers you as well, the dancers aren't sure) gives you one xp. With 3 people applauding you sixty times per minute, that's 180 xp per minute, enough to put you at entertainment mastery (with flourishes for bonus xp) relatively quickly.
For (fast) Entertainment HEALING xp, again you need a CM. This time, let the CM disease your mind, and let the flourishing entertainer fix it. If you're REALLY nice, you can just not-clone, duel, and let the mind wounds rack up. There is ALSO the tenddamage command that a medic can perform on you which gives the medic mind wounds. He gets xp for healing you, you get xp for healing him. It's good. Real good. ALWAYS use the best dance/song available. It increases xp LOTS.

Squad Leader
: ALWAYS hunt with your pets and faction pets when in the wilderness. Squad leader just plain SUCKS for xp, and most of the commands are broken as of this writing. (since fixed, just go with 20 ppl and one SL to train you, you can master it in 12 hours)

Time to Master SL: Lots.

Ranged Combat Professions: FIRST, get CH 1/1/0/0 or CH 2/2/0/0. THIS WILL SAVE YOU TIME. By doing this you can avoid taking damage, dying, and cloning. I LOVE CHs, and I don't think you need a nerf, it's just a simple fact that having a CH pet extends the lifespan of a regular character by about 10 times. Find any non-social mob and kill them one by one, healing your pet when you're done.
As a rifleman, it took me 3 months to get halfway done, and about 1 week to finish the class after I got my non-CH pet. Imagine what YOU can do with a CH pet! Just be sure to be a medic or to have pet stims available to heal your tank. Mastering CH is a beeatch, but you only need to dabble to get enough power to master Carbineer, Pistol, etc.

Time to master a combat profession: About 2 good weeks on endor or dantooine. Good mobs are voritor trackers (5kxp each) (HUURTON STALKERS are best mob ed.) and other dantooinian mobs, or Nightsisters on dathomir. The pubams et al used to be good on Endor, but they're MIA right now.

Time to master CH: Not

BH: Use the CH for combat mastery (see above) and the investigation tree is just a long grind. Buy seekers in bulk and just start running missions.

Image Designer:
See entertainer to get to this class. For image design, you need to coordinate with someone and create a macro. They need to "accept this customization" over and over, and you need to create a "change this dude's hair/eyes/etc." macro.

Time to master ID:
One day

Merchant: Sell weapon powerups for near-free. Create decent ones and sell them at or below cost. My understanding is that xp comes from total sales, so if you have no cohort, this is the way to go. FOR FAST MERCHANT MASTERY get someone to stand by your vendor. Put a 1cr cost entry fee on your house. Also gives merchant xp.

Time to master merchant: 2 days+?

BE: grind except for DNA sampling, which is largely like combat classes.

Smugglers:
Whore yourself out for locked containers. Good luck.

Image designer can be mastered in 45 mintues.

Create a macro that reads:

/image;/imagedesignSetValue eye_color 00;/ui action toolbarSlot00;

Put it in your first toolbar slot and run the macro. This will require a LOT of click on the receiving end, bute asily get you to master in 45 minutes or so. I Was able to cap at 80k xp every 8-10 minutes.

also, architect takes about 40-50 minutes to master. You need 580k ore 260k gemstone and a little metal... maybe 10k worth. Grind crafting stations until you get construction 1. Then grind gungan head statues in practice mode for 5250 xp each.

This thread is riddled with holes. It's best to grind armorweave segments to 3000 for armorsmith. If you can get enough synth cloth and hide that is. Then ubese shirts all the way.

"Commando: Get 0040 first and kick some butt w/ a sliced FlameThrower with a Speed Powerup." Speed powerup? for heavy weapons? eh? 0040 is right, but dont worry about the speed powerup... just go take giant baz nitch missions on dath.

Squad leader can be masterd in no time if you go to Dant and group with random people. 2 days MAX if you're lazy.

Admitedly, I have not mastered all professions.  Only the ones listed in my original post.  Any errors are due to assumptions which I've made.  Do post corrections and I'll repost a revised profession by profession grinding reply.

Overall, very good. Slight correction. Merchant xp has nothing to do with total sales. you get 150xp per vendor per hour.... when the xp is working correctly. you also get 50xp everytime someone pays an entry fee to enter your shop and 50xp each time a person simply views items on your vendor (there is a timer on this though such that one person repeatedly viewing the vendor will not work.

This is actually the opposite of what you should do.  Holo hints were not in the game to begin with, they were added after by the devs.  Our 5 professions that we must master are determined when you create your character.  Using a Holo only reveals one of those professions that has already been picked.  Therefore if you dont have the money to buy 4 holos you should master the basic professions first because they take little time and then use your holos.  This was you may only have to use 2 or 3 holos before it goes silent and you wont have to pay 5 mil for an unneeded holo.
