I'm just going to write a quick summary as I've had a VERY long day, woke up at 3:30am, flew into LA on a 6:15am flight, and just flew back. I'll write a very detailed summary this weekend for everyone.
Here is a quick summary:
1) Skill point conversion -
We are not supposed to be spending 6 boxes on the force sensitive skills, that is completely unintended!
A Jedi Initiate with 1 box currently will start in the new system as a Padawan with 1 skill box.
Skill boxes are converted to new skill boxes based on how much XP they cost now.
Therefore the 4 lightsaber boxes that are grindable in about 1 hour aren't worth much. But a high xp box like Padawan, Knight, or Dark Jedi Apprentice will convert to multiple skill boxes
This basically gives Jedi conversion credit analogous to the amount of xp they gained, and not just how many boxes you earn
Any leftover XP you have will carry right over, so if you can't finish that Padawan or Knight box, it shouldn't be a big deal, you'll have those millions of Jedi XP to spend still.
Everyone will have to keep the Force Sensitive Boxes, you will not be able to give them up.
After choosing which skill boxes you want, you will then be able to train the rest of your points immediately in any profession you wish.
For example, if you convert and are able to choose 8 Jedi boxes, you will then get another dialogue box that will let you Master Doctor and whatever else you have skill points to do.
2) Lightsaber Damage
This was probably my biggest issue at the fan fest, and I think I successfully addressed it with every Dev at least once, including a very long diatribe to the Devs in front of everyone explaining the issues with:
Extremely low base damage
Low base and special damage even with a 4 Pearl saber (I have one on TC2)
Very low damage even with specials
The problem with AP2 and vuln and how it further compounds the issue
The problem with levelling Jedi as our main tool, the saber, has such a low DPS, which exponentially increases the time to level.
A lot more stuff which I can't remember, maybe someone took a transcript I went on for at least 10 minutes
Confirmation that this will be looked at. I really had to drill this down, but I made my point, and follow up emails have been requested by the dev team
3) Pearls and Crystals
All crystals will be converted to color crystals, all sabers will break down into pearls. So take your choice, lots of damage pearls or do you want to have some extra color crystals
I didn't have a chance to address color crystals as a quest, although it was said that upon completing the Padawan trials a Jedi will recieve his first robe, and have made her first saber, so it makes sense those are given as a reward.
Twin crystals currently do not convert, but this should be fixed
Holocrons will be useless (unrelated but worth noting)
4) Robes
I cornered a Dev who said he remembers seeing Jedi Robes with hoods presented by the Art Team lead. I couldn't pin him to the wall on it, but there's some hope (it has been explained earlier that hoods are a big technical challenge at 7 unique models have to be made for each species in the game. Honestly, this is the Jedi revamp....I hope this gets done right and we see hoods).
Another dev mentioned hoods are probably just for the high ranking Jedi in the Force Ranking System......which I thought was pretty cool....don't mess with the Jedi in the hood
Wookie robes are in
5) Force Ranking System and Jedi
Non-PVP Jedi are not going to be a Super-Uber class capable of taking on 20 elite professions at once. They will definately be more powerful than any other combat profession, but not on the scale a 4444 Guardian is now (at least in regards to ranged professions...some of them....on a rainy day...)
PVP Jedi.....well....they are going to be uber.
There is only a limited number of PVP slots per server, 180 total, 90 to each side
You power increases exponentially as you gain ranking.
The devs want to limit the number of extremely powerful Jedi, but those that achieve the highest rank will be powerful beyond belief.
Council members are expected to "cut swaths" through crowds of people, and killing 50 players is the expected power level
Again this is only going to be attainable at the highest ranks of the FRS
Both Light Jedi and Dark Jedi vote to gain higher ranks
If the ranks are filled, Dark Jedi can then challenge duel to take someone's spot
you must challenge a certain number of people per week
You lose Force Ranking Experience everyday, which means unless you PVP almost everyday, it will be very hard to maintain a high rank.
Maintaining the Highest rank will be incredibly hard
The goal is for the turnover of the high ranks to be very high
If a group of Jedi at a certain rank do not fulfill their weekly requirements, they ALL drop to Rank 0.
It might be possible for a coordinated group of Jedi to lock in some parts of the trees if they work together, but due to the high demands of PVP, and the huge penalties for dying to lower ranked challengers its going to be hard
This will need to be tweaked a lot, and is planned on being very carefully balanced to make this very hard to do.
The enclaves should go live on Monday or Tuesday, and are supposed to be "incredible."
Different Robes will signify each rank
+Lightsaber Damage mods and such are added to each rank (similar to TKA). These scale up a huge amount near the top until the highest Jedi will posess incredible damage output and powers.
If you go on vacation for a week kiss your high ranking goodbye. This is fully inteneded, high turnover is what they want.
I think it sounds awesome for the PVP hardcore gamers.
You will be permanently overt.
To prevent high level Jedi from terrorizing cities and forming Gank Squads, there will be huge penalties for dying to non-FS and low level FS.
XP loss is the current system, only for FRS Jedi
Non-Knight Jedi will also lose XP, but cannot lose skill boxes
Knight+ Jedi will lose FRS XP and will be demoted if they lose enough
Jedi XP and FRS XP are totally different
You can only gain/lose FRS XP if you become a Knight
6) Skillpoints
My second biggest issue I brought up, is that the Skill point allocation system is:
Too restrictive, and doesn't allow Jedi to possess a robust selection of Force powers, especially restricting powers every Jedi should have like Force Run etc.
Could be solved by flipping the skill point trees, so the lower boxes cost 2,4,6,8 instead of 8,6,4,2.
Needs more of a barrier of entry at Padawan to discourage bigtime dabblers
The devs however want to have people dabbling in Jedi skills and mixing with other professions.
Not sure what to say about this right now, I think we need to see how things shake out.
I also asked that overall the skill point requirements are lowered so we can obtain a more varied set of skills
I suggested moving the lightsaber generation 4 certs down to the 4th skillbox of each saber line to potentially free up more skill points if desired
You won't be able to dabble and just take the low level boxes that cost 6/8 skill points and make a run for Knight....you have to do at least 2 level 4 boxes I believe they said (thanks ARC_Casper for the reminder)
7) Unlocking
Someone made a great suggestion that I ask if they can make a popup box where you can choose whether you want your main or your new Slot Jedi to become FS after Publish 10
Someone also brought up the suggestion that both characters are made FS (although I doubt this will fly but I'll try)
During Publish 9, no new Jedi will be created
If you unlock after Publish 9, and before Publish 10, you will get notification, however you will not be able to use your new slot or FS powers on your main until Publish 10
If you are on profession X and have not unlocked by Publish 9, then you will get credit in the new system, but will not have the benefit of dual force sensitive characters like current Jedi will have
Some guy in the front row was like an enraged rancor and was verbally mauling the dev panel
They acknowledged they messed up and apologized to everyone for the hologrind
The publish 10 system will be fully quest driven, and will have quests more robust than just deliver or destroy.
These quests are not finalized
They are expected to take 3 to 6 months (so I'm sure some guy on bloodfin will crank them out in 2 weeks )
If you are on profession 31 you should stop reading now and go finish it!
8) XP and TC
XP on TC is not supposed to be so low, it will be looked at
XP and damage are being constantly monitored on TC2
There should be another wipe on TC2 coming to help people that did not convert properly, they really want everyone to be able to test stuff (even one of the devs didn't convert right lol )
This goes live on the 22nd. And they are very firm on that date
There's more....but after 7 hours of panels and 2 plane flights I'm pretty beat. If you went to fanfest and garnered anything else, please PM me and I'll add it in.
If you have any questions on stuff I may have missed, there's a good chance I know the answer now and its not popping into my head. So just post additional questions and I'll update this as needed (and as soon as I get some sleep).
Arjun
If you have questions, please ask them with numbers
1. What will blah blah blah do if I blah?
2. Do you know what happens if I blah blah?
Makes it MUCH easier for me to respond to thanks!
1) What happens to all the Saber Lances? Are they going to be converted to (single) crystals?
Converted to Pearls
2) What happens to Sabers i store in droids?
No clue, but I wouldn't risk that
3) What happens to Sabers in my in inventory that have not been crafted by myself?
Considering you shouldn't have sabers that you didn't craft, I don't know.
4) What happens to Sabers that are in the inventoy of a non jedi character?
They explode causing massive wounds and you appear in the nearest cloning facility (no this is not for real, but if I were a dev... )
5) What happens to Sabers during the conversion process when my inventory is allready full?
Nothing, after conversion the saber is still a saber, but all you can choose to do is destroy it or break it down.
6) Will my Jedi finally be able to use his/her lots?
Not really, yes you can use lots, but Dave White made a quick answer on this and said there will be a cap of 10 lots per account, per server. So you can put down a house, but its going to come out of your total lots from both characters.

I'm very disappointed in them deciding force sensitive skills are required. A lot are somewhat useless to Jedi, and the skill points can be invested in a much better way. Additionally, what happens if you want to change your force sensitive skills at some point in the future?
For instance, I might want to take up the experimentation portion of force sensitivity so I can craft a better saber, but once the saber is crafted I'll never have use for it again. Perhaps you can request a way for us to reallocate our force sensitive skills? Or maybe start us off with 226 skill points and make the FS boxes cost nothing?

Yes, thanks for all the hard work, I just have a quick question by what you mean by "choice" on the crystal/pearl thing. When we go to break down our sabers are we going to get the choice of getting a color crystal or damage pearl back or just what we put into the saber, cause if it is just what we put into our saber not all of us have the "choice" since we arent all rich enough to buy pearls.
Crud, you flew home already? Good meeting you, glad to have helped (I hope)... I don't have a transcript, but I do have an unassayed digital recording of the whole panel more or less, if you'd like me to try zipping the MP3 down and sending it to you.

If you have an existing saber, when it's broken down you'll get 1 pearl per generation, with stats roughly right for the saber (converted to the lower scale). Pearls are all +damage (and -FC), not color, so they'll enhance higher gen lightsabers. If you have crystals, that haven't been made into lightsabers, they'll be transformed into color crystals. Color crystals have NO stats, do have condition, do wear out. If your lightsaber has no color crystal you can't equip it.
So the choice is: Build your crystals into sabers NOW (and get +damage/-fc pearls after conversion), or keep them as crystals and get color crystals after conversion. Those who opt to not have any crystals left (or just plain don't have any) will have to go farm color crystals (at the worst) before any saber (training to 4th gen) will be usable. But again, that's at worst. I hope they'll throw the bone of one color crystal to EVERYONE on conversion, so no one will be unable to get at least one saber humming.
I've been pondering canceling my subscription the last 2 days, because this new jedi system isn't as revolutionary as I hoped it to be, but I'm starting to gain alot more faith that arjun will push to make jedi a fun profession until the devs cry heh

Jedi are like ants in an ant farm, you watch them work and play, and if one is being bad, you squish them
