Here's my tip for would be Squad Leaders:

Requirements:  Wanrning Shot (though Threaten shot may work s as well)

A pet or player that can tank and

Mask scent is extremely helpful, perhaps required

When hunting MOB's that can turn you into Ground chuck in 10 seconds,  I have found success with this formula.  For this example I will use Pikets from Dantooine which almost always start out and respawn in threes:

1) target the closest MOB and get just within attack range, appox 65m.  Kneel or go prone.

2) hit target with Warning Shot then immediately /peace

3) if successful the target should run away, out of range and the other two MOBS will begin charging.

4) since the two MOBS will now be running at you, shift-tab  will allow you to select a now closer MOB (watch target distance in meter)

5) Send 'Tank' at the new target and run backward until 'Tank' engages the MOB.  Both creatures should attack your 'Tank'. (BTW my current tank is a Greater Sludge Panther, I"ve seen this work with Robas and other 2-3k HAM pets.)

6) Warning shot then /peace one of the two creatures that is attacking you tank until it is out of combat range.

7) focus onthe MOB that is attacking your pet.  Hopefully, you have enough firepower to destroy this thing before it kills your pet and attacks you, but that's a judgement call you have to make.

8) separate and destroy the remaining MOBs

You should have successfully scattered the rest of the pack and made it easier to pick of the remaining MOBs.  Of course, this takes practice and you will need to find out details that make it easier for you to attack, but the end result should be One MOB, away from the lair and no hits on you.

9) hit the lair 1 time only and /peace (or CTRL / works too apparently)

10) as soon as the first spawn appears use a SAP shot and /peace  (see  below)

Another technique that I find useful is to target the mob farthest from the rest of the pack.  Get just within attack range.  Go prone or kneel, and mask scent.  Do a Sap shot (damage over time, i.e. mind shot, health shot, etc) and immediately peace.  If your shot was successful, and none of the other MOBs attack you, then you can run back 30-40 m and wait 20 sec.  If you are not too far, the MOB will attack you as soon as it takes damage.  You wil have plenty of time to prepare for it's attack, it can still run at you from as far a 100m.  I generally try to pull it past the rest of my group so they are firing away form the lair, but at 100m (+or-) you should not accrue any more agro.

Again, practice makes perfect, and this works best in a group, though I've successfully done this by myself (with pet) or with one other person.  You can usually substitute  Warning shot for a pet, but it might back-fire on you.

Good luck troops!

Just a tip for those who may not know, if you were annoyed as I was with the original keyboard configuration, you can change it to "1st person shooter" in options/keyboard
makes it alot easier

Did you know...

/dump works perfectly to terminate running macros.  I macro a whole lot of stuff, and keep a hotkey for /dump on my taskbar.  When it's time to stop sampling or flourishing or whatever, hit it and you're done.

You can put a macro in the taskbar and then have it call itself by pressing the corresponding taskbar button at the end of the macro - instant recursion!  It's really vital to /dump before switching taskbar panes though or it'll start calling something else...which might be a combat macro...which can be BAD.

When crafting lots of big things (powering through Droid Engineer) you can have as many crafting tools as you need.  When I'm building Advanced Droid Frames I have eight Droid Crafting Tools running simultaneously.  Never any downtime, and at 400xp a pop you rise right quick if you've got the resources.

The /emote command places a little bubble over your head for thoughts ... example:

/emote thinks that the entertainers are HOT

will put a bubble over my head that says ...

Selah thinks that the entertainers are HOT

Actually, on my microsoft intelli 5 button mouse i have double click on the wheel and autorun on the large thumb button. But either way, a button for double clicking is by far the best thing that has happened for SWG   Saves sooo much time.

Did you know that it helps you in the game to be memorable. Two things i like to do.... Instead of yelling i need training in such and such...wait for a shuttle to come and stand on the platform right before it gets there. Type in AHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!! Help!!! and then when it's almost landed hit enter and do a roll to prone command. I bet you get more than a few lol's. Then ask for training or whatever you need and you'll get a lot more responses. The other thing i like to do is to go into a medical hospital when i need healing and say "Hey Doc it hurts when i do this." /jump "Got anything for that?" I usually get healed a lot faster than the others sitting around quietly. Stupid humor i know but, you get yourself noticed and you can get what you need faster as well as building a personality for your character. Good luck.

THE SUPER SAMPLEING SCRIPT

&

THE ARMOUR ON AND OFF WITH ONE BUTTON

&

MACRO LOOPING

Post

ok people here it is ,  the super sampleing script you seen varations and good ides to wards it here is a fully automated sampleing loop

/sample;/pause 4;/sit;/pause 30;/stand;/ui action toolbarSlotXX

Script Explained: and the LOOPING pricipals

1) this script as it is only takes one sample b4 you sit FACT even a master has to wait 25 sec's between samples if you sit 30 your fully healed (keeping you action maxed)

2)  **edit** is /ui action toolbarSlotXX  the is a command to execute somthing in your tool bar numbers start at 00  running to 11 meaning   f7 is numbered 06  F9 is 08

3) by calling it's self you've just created and endless loop to stop it type /dump or make a macro

4) hmm if it loops that means i never have to check it so i can go out for a good drunk and get 1k of resurces in a 85% plus area in a a 5 hour span

* note  /ui action toolbarSlotXX   <- that s is uppercase for a reason if you miss is it will not work

** if you don't put the macro in the right slot you won't get it to loop

*** always face you back to town when using this for EXTENDED periods when you sit / sample you move back a tiny bit  My personal best is 300m move for a automated sample sesion

4x*  you can caft while auto sammpleing so do it and get awesome XP

EQUIP UNEQUIP one button

goto a tool bar you don't use put all you armour in there (say toolbar 6 )

make this macro (longer depening on how many pieces or armour you have )

/ui action toolbarPane05;/ui action toolbarSlot00;/ui action toolbarSlot01;/ui action toolbarSlot02;/ui action toolbarSlot03;/ui action toolbarSlot04;/ui action toolbarPane00

SCRIPT EXPLANED

1) this script will change you tool bar to bar 6 , hit 5 F# buttons for you and change you back to toolbar 1

2) use the macro once to put it all on and once again to take it all off

* once again it's case sensitive make sure the Pane and Slot   are capped like i have

** if for some reason you armour didn't all equip and now you are half armoured hit it again and the other half is armoured hit ctrl+F6 to go to toolbar 6 and hit the armour you have on (to take it off) this skips the pain fumbling  thru your inventory to un / equip you armour and hey it's in a tool bar so use it  =P

Hope i helpped

Is anyone aware of a way to shut down a long macro early?  That would be really useful to know.
__________________________________________________________________

there's no way to terminate a macro per se short of logging out, but you can build the macro differently.

Just in case noone seen it in my dirty long post and one other besides me    /dump    terminates/ kills / stops  macros dead  =P

Just copied and pasted the ones I didn't know (most of them) into word pad, and printed out for quick reference.  My "quick reference" is now 24 pages!

Thanks to all for helping us noob's! The manual is ok at best, but there are always a TON of questions I have.  This has helped a lot.

"So a "nerf" has come to mean any reduction in power to any part of the game"

Which puts a whole 'nuther spin on on nerf herder.

BTW, the ingame shorthand for /emote is a colon.

:thinks the entertainer is hot.

What I do is click and hold BOTH mouse buttons on an inventory item. This will drag it, even though the radial menu may pop up, it will still work. If you're dragging to the toolbar, your character may walk forward a bit as you enter the hot part of the screen since you have the right mb down, but just for a moment..

You can make a macro to take your armor on and off,

/ui action toobarPane05; (selects F-key pane number 6)
/ui action toolbarSlot00; (selects F1)
/ui action toolbarSlot01; (selects F2)
/ui action toolbarSlot02; (selects F3)
/ui action toolbarSlot03; (selects F4)
/ui action toolbarSlot04; (selects F5)
/ui action toolbarSlot05; (selects F6)
/ui action toolbarSlot06; (selects F7)
/ui action toolbarSlot07; (selects F8)
/ui action toolbarSlot08; (selects F9)
/ui action toolbarSlot09; (selects F10)
/ui action toolbarSlot10; (selects F11)
/ui action toolbarSlot11; (selects F12)
/ui action toolbarSlot12; (selects Shift+F1)
/ui action toolbarSlot13; (selects Shift+F2)
/ui action toolbarSlot14; (selects Shift+F3)
/ui action toolbarSlot15; (selects Shift+F4)
/ui action toolbarSlot16; (selects Shift+F5)
/ui action toolbarSlot17; (selects Shift+F6)
/ui action toolbarSlot18; (selects Shift+F7)
/ui action toolbarSlot19; (selects Shift+F8)
/ui action toolbarSlot20; (selects Shift+F9)
/ui action toolbarSlot21; (selects Shift+F10)
/ui action toolbarSlot22; (selects Shift+F11)
/ui action toolbarSlot23; (selects Shift+F12)
/ui action toolbarPane00; (selects F-key pane number 1)

This will switch to pane 6, press all 24 f-keys and switch back to pane 1.  If you don't have that much armor, remove the lines you don't need.  This will work for putting your armor on and taking it off.

As a side note you can automatically end a macro by imputting the command /dump.
