So you want to craft an uber Fencer weapon?
Here's what to look for:
Geonosian Reinforced Cores - These things drop from Crazed Geonosians, the Imperial Observer, or in the Mercanary room. Since they are a replacement for the Reinforced Core (Which means that these will be used in the making of Stun Batons and Gaffi Sticks) the base stat of 25/25 (min/max) damage usually makes them garbage. However, it is possible that these can raise above the stats of a Weaponsmith's Reinforced Cores. In addition to the straightforward loot drop of Geonosian Reinforced cores, there are Schematics for this item. Player crafted Geonosian Reinforced Cores are more often than not better than a traditional player crafted Reinforced Core.
Geonosian Sword Core Schematics - In the off chance that you want to upgrade your Rykk, Curved Sword, or Sword, you can loot these buggers from the same things as you would Geonosian Reinforced Cores, Mercs, Imperial Observer, Crazed Geonosians in the Geonosian Biolab. Pretty much the same story as the Reinforced core, regular looted ones tend to be junk, but a crafted one could turn out to be killer. If you choose this route, you'll also want to be on the lookout for:
Yellow Geonosian Power Cubes - Any kind of Geonosian Power Cube Suffices in the Geonosian Sword and Reinforced Core schematics, but the Yellow ones are desirable because they add anywhere near from 10-30 Damage per pair of cubes it takes to craft either Core. In addition to the Power Cubes, you'll need:
Geonosian Solidifying Agents or Toothpaste - These enter into the Sword and Reinforced Core Schematics to add some condition points, and often damage points, as well.
Acklay Bones - These double as Reinforced Cores, which means they too go in your Stun Baton or Gaffi Stick. Looted from the Acklay at the bottom of the Geonosian Biloab on Yavin, the stats on these are base at 65/65 but ranged up to (postnerf) 300/300, I'm told. This is the surest way to get a high damage Stun Baton or Gaffi is through these bones.
Rancor Teeth - Looted from Rancors on Dathomir, or received as a reward from Jabba's theme park, these replace the Sword Core component, which makes this the best route to a high damage Rykk, Sword, or Curved Sword. The damage on these ranged from 5/50(min/max) to somewhere around 25/350+. Paccy tells me the minimum Damage on these is usually around far lower, somwhere between 5-15% of the max damage on average.
High Powered Vibro Motors - The most underrated loot drop in the game. This component is an optional weapon enhancement for the Vibroblade. Looted off of Nym's cronies on Lok (I have the best luck with his droidekas) these can add anywhere from +20 to +50 onto the max damage of your regular vibroblade.
High Frequency Vibro Motors - Nothing to uber about these, but notable nontheless. These things offer a +5 to +15 % wound chance, which can really help in those excruciatingly long Dstacker duels. Like the High Powered Vibro Motors, they are both a Vibroblade Enhancement rather than replacement, and they too are found amongst the corpses of Nym's boys.
Fine Tuned Vibro Motors - Little is known about these, except for what they might do. They offer a -0.2 to speed, which might help in leveling, I imagine. They don't have a known origin, seemingly looted randomly from NPCs.
Nightsister Vibro Blade Unit - Likely the rarest component drops in the game. These are generally used for crafting Nightsister Energy Lances, but if you get an odd number of drops, they fit nicely into the Vibro Blade Unit slot of a Vibroblade. The base of these is believed to be that of a crafted Advanced Vibro Blade Unit (25/35). However, there are many, many examples of stats far higher on these.
Note that A Weaponsmith will make an Advanced Reinforced Core at around 40/40 damage, an Advanced Sword Core around 40/40 damage, and an Advanced Vibro Blade Unit at 25/35. So if the stats on your looted component is less than those, I am sorry to say that you looted some junk.
So you wanna Loot an Uber Fencer weapon?
Here's what to hunt:
Nightsister Elders - (Dathomir) I find that they are the most likely type of Nightsister to drop loot other than Pikes, and there is a decent possibility there to snag something nice from one.
Nightsister Protectors - (Dathomir) Only other type of Nightsister I've looted non-Pike goodies of note from.
Tusken Kings - (Tattooine) The mission outside of Wayfar I think it is, as well as the Tusken Bunker. I've seen some impressive mind fire Gaffis pop out of there
Nasty Tuskens - (Tattooine) Witch Doctor, Executioner, Observer. The Elder of the Tuskens. DOT Gaffis have known to drop from these. In addition, these can drop the Black Metal Gaffi Stick which is an AP1 Gaffi. These so far haven't been known to be too much better than vibroblades, but the possibility is sure there. Who knows, if you fight these you may even stumble on to the fabled Junti mace
Eran Siff + the Gang (Talus) They drop DOT Vibroblades from time to time.
Rancors + Krayts - This one is a long shot, but every once in a while, they'll drop a weapon instead of the usual, and every once in a while, those weapons are great. Nyax's Gang - (Corellia) They drop a base 110 strength health poison in both the Curved and regular Sword Varieties. Theres a far off chance of there being an insane mind fire on one of them, one of these days
Jantas - (Dantooine) Drop a base stone knife entitled "Janta Knife" that comes with a base 110 strength mind poison. These, too are noted to periodically have secondary DOTs on them that can do some serious damage.
Dunkawahs - (Endor) Little evil ewok-like things that drop a base action DOT knife every so often. As before, these can have killer secondary DOTs. (Yes, I know evil and ewok is redundant )
