Q. What are Badges? A. Badges are essentially just lines of text that appear in your Character Information Sheet(Ctrl+C, and Ctrl+P). You claim badges by doing various tasks in the SWG world. These tasks can be as simple as visiting a location, or as challenging as fighting through one of the toughest dungeons in the game.
Q. Why a Badge guide? A. I havn't seen a Badge guide in a while, aside from what is on Allakhazam, and I enjoy Badge hunting, so I decided to go ahead and make one! I know this guide may seem a bit redundant, but, oh well, I wanted to make it anyway! I'm also not a huge fan of Allakhazam.com[pop-ups], but, if you are, much of this same information can be found here!
Q. Is SOE going to add anymore badges, or is this it? A. Of COURSE they're going to add new badges! We have no less than 8 more just around the corner!
Q. I heard badges are what get you Jedi, is this true? A. No. Becoming a Jedi is a long, hard path, going out and getting 70 or so badges won't do it. But as of Publish 10, it does seem as though badges are what is required to form a connection with the force, and ultimately be visited by the Old Man. So while these won't instantly get you Jedi, this should help you on the first step down a long, long path.
Q. What badges are required to get the Old Man? A. Whichever ones you want to get. There is no "Get these X badges list" to get there. Apparently, some badges hold more weight towards being visited than others, but there is still no short, concise, "do this" list.

great guide but your missing but one... the event medal
I know Allakhazam has that up, but honestly... I don't believe it actually exists. Ignoring that i've never personally seen one, in the Astromech stats friday feature, there is no mention of this badge. Which to me says it either doesn't exist, or it was added after July 2004, which doesn't make a whole lot of sense, since Pex's live event craze started a few months before that, so this badge would've been made prior to July 2004 in all likelihood... If you can prove me wrong, i'll gladly listen[wouldn't mind seeing more badges in game!], but... to me there seems not enough evidence that it exists.
I have an event medal, got it when some tuskins raided AH and I helped to stop them.
EDIT: Oh, and I forgot to tell you what an amazing guide this is Good work

Gah, you're right! I forgot that only recently Pex has been throwing hordes of Battle droids at Theed and Tuskens at Bestine.... Still, seems kind of redundant, doesn't it? I mean, wouldn't the "Brave Soldier" be more applicable? meh, anything for an Accolade...
Pretty nice guide. One error that I saw tho......the COA Act 1 disks are still dropping like flies. I looted one today as a matter of fact. Most ppl just want to get rid of 'em as far as I know, so they shouldn't be too hard to find or too pricey.

Those aren't the Act 1 disks, that's just standard content. I myself have a backpack filled to the brims of Rebel Transmission[*/4], Imperial Plans[*/4], and Rebel Orders[*/3]. The Act 1 disks are Encoded Rebel Transmission[*/4] and Encoded Imperial Transmission[*/4]. The Encoding is all the difference.

Pretty sure those are the act one disks. The Act 2 disks were the ones marked Encoded. They were given to us by the coordinators and we had to find the pieces of the Dead Eye Decoder to decode them.

Nope, Act 2 we were given a single Encoded Disk, and we had to, as you said, build the Dead Eye Decoder, while in Act 1 we had to compile the pieces of the aforementioned Encoded Rebel/Imperial Transmissions. Of course, there's an easy way to test this out. Get a friend who doesn't have the Act 1 badge, hand them a complete set, and see what they get. If they ARE the Act 1 disks, they should get, what is it? 500 fp, and the badge. If it's just the standard content they'll get maybe a thousand creds. I'm 100% Positive that those are NOT the Act 1 disks that are currently dropping.

That'd be a profession badge. I glossed over the 45 Exploration badges, and the 41 profession badges, because, well, that's a lot of typing. I may add them tomorrow, if I feel like typing them all up.
