Guide - Krayt Skull Epic Quest

1. Opening Notes and Disclaimer

Hello everyone! I decided to write and publish this guide for two very important reasons: first of all because like everyone else I had hear of the fabled Krayt skull, and spent hours on end looking for information about it. I found most of the information needed but it was all scattered in countless different threads, and with cryptic clues, some of which made no sense at all. What really drove the point home was the fact that there were people in the boards that were actually selling the information to other players! I really cannot fathom how anyone could do that.

Secondly, and perhaps this is the most important reason, because after getting involved in this quest I realized that, contrary to what many think, there is a lot of very interesting and rewarding content in SWG, you just have to look for it. Doing this quest made me realize that I had been playing this game all wrong. I got caught up in the grind-level-grind loop that I completely forgot about getting involved in the stories. Granted, there are many quests which may or may not be broken, but there are countless others which do work, once you know what to do. I also realized that I didn't know any of the cities at all. I mean I have traveled to all the major cities, and I can tell you where the cantina, the med center and the starport is, but I had not taken the time to visit all the buildings and talked to any of the NPCs which you can talk to. I am hoping that those interested in this guide will also realize this, and hopefully go out and explore more of the content in the game.

Please READ THIS AT YOUR OWN RISK! There are spoilers below, so if you don't want to ruin the game experience, don't read any further. This is only meant to help the community.

Before I start with the guide proper, there are a few important reminders I would like to make, which will apply throughout the quest:

A - If possible, try to do this quest during off-peak hours. Most of the quests targets spawn close to the cities which you have to travel to, and more often than not some other player will have already killed your target, so that when you get to the waypoint there is nothing there.

B - Another reason to do this quest when there are not many players on is that, at least in my case, most of the NPCs which I had to talk to were aggressive towards me, very often a player walking by would shoot and kill the NPC thinking he/she was helping me, when in fact he wasn't.

C - To avoid some of the problems in A and B, assuming there is no other time where you can do this other than peak hours, make a macro that goes something like this: /yell Hi! I'm doing a quest, please don't attack the mob, trying to start a conversation with him!; Put it in one of your toolbar slots and use it if you see a player near the vicinity of your target.

D - As I have already mentioned, most of these NPCs will be aggressive to you if your Thug faction is negative (mine was at -5000). What you have to do is, as you approach the NPC, select him and type '/conv', which will initiate a conversation which the NPC, regardless of whether or not he is aggressive. More often than not the NPC will start to fight you as soon as you come within range, in this case hit the peace button immediately (don't want to kill it) and start running away in the opposite direction. There will come a point in which the NPC will give up the chase and the fight will end, when this happens immediately type '/conv' and you should get the mission acknowledgment message. You can also make a macro for the '/conv' command and put in your toolbar, right in-between the peace command and the previous macro you created. This way you can quickly tell a player not to attack the target, hit peace and immediately start a conversation with the target.

E - Burst run to waypoints. Again, since the likelihood of your NPC getting killed by an enterprising player is high during peak hours, be sure to burst run as soon as you get the mission waypoint. In my case most of the NPCs spawned between 600-1000 m away from my starting location, so burst running usually got me there quick., and I was always able to find the NPC I was meant to find.

2. Quest Starts - Moenia, Naboo

The quest starts in Moenia, Naboo. Go into the cantina, where in the back room you will find Borvo, a not so mean looking Hutt. Before talking to him though you need to do a few missions for his guards. Start by talking to one of Borvo's guards (there are 3, but any of them will do - I talked to the one that is with him in his room). The guard tells you that Borvo is very busy and he doesn't know you, however he tells you that you might be able to help him rescue one of his people before he gets caught, and that if you do this, he might be able to tell Borvo that you are clean. Take the mission.

The person you are asked to rescue is Dagorel, who spawns about 500-600 m away from the city. You need to rush (burst run) to the waypoint (which, incidentally, is listed as '@planet_n:naboo') as fast as possible because Dagorel is an aggressive mob (red dot). When you get there, if he goes starts to fight you know what to do (see above).

As soon as you star to converse with Dagorel, he asks you if Borvo sent you, and if you are a new guy. He starts to follow you telling you to get out before the police get him. At this point you should be getting the following message: 'Return to the person who gave you this mission to receive your reward'. I theorize that once you receive this message, and the ensuing waypoint, you might be able to simply kill Dagorel. I brought him back with me, got as far as the entrance of the cantina before he decided to return the other way. At this point a player decided to kill him but that did not affect the outcome of the quest.

Once you report back to the guard you will receive your reward (25 credits deposited into your bank account), and he will tell you how pleased he is with the outcome. He asks you to stick around since Borvo might need you for something else.

When you talk to the guard once more you get another mission, this time you need to take out a traitor (Frangee) who was involved in a gun deal gone sour. He'll give you a waypoint for his location (about 800m away from Moenia in my case), he also asks you to retrieve any items he may be carrying. When you get there simply kill him and loot his corpse, besides some credits you will loot a ledger off his body. Return to Borvo's guard.

When you talk to the guard, he will again tell you how happy he is with your work, he examines the ledger you got off Frangee, and says they were the records he was keeping on them. He also asks you to stick around and that he will talk to Borvo about an idea he has. You also receive a gift as a reward, which is in fact a second ledger. If you look in your inventory you will notice that Frangee's ledger is STILL in your inventory.

So you now have 2 ledgers, the one you got off Frangee, and the one you got as a gift.

If you talk to the guard once more, he will tell you about his plan. Basically saying that Borvo liked the idea and he picked you to do the work. Since they sent a snitch, Borvo is going to send one to them (You!). You have to take the badge and go to Corellia. Frangee, who was working for Corsec, was going to check in with the Corsec Captain for a report, so you are going to be Frangee, or rather Niksel Geerfintur (which I assume is Frangee's real name). You have to get their money back and a little revenge.

3. Coronet, Corellia

Now this is the first off-planet traveling you have to do. Go to Coronet, Corellia, and there go to the 'Capitol - Coronet' building (a short walk from the Starport). Inside the capitol there are lots of NPC, but only a few with which you can converse (notably: Irenez, a female Twilek; Garm Bel Iblis, a human; Thale Dustrunner, a human; Otamin Ofe (a mercenary with an 'Info' sign above his head), a sullustan base male)

The one you need to talk to is actually Thale. Note that if you simply approach him and select the option to converse, he will tell you that he doesn't know who you are, or what you want and will dismiss you. The quest is not broken, what you HAVE to do in order to talk to him is drag the second ledger you have in your inventory over Thale (you will see the icon change into a hand). Once you drop the ledger onto him he will say 'Good' (the ledger disappears form your inventory). Now when you select the option to converse he will talk to you.

When you talk to him, he says that it must feel good to wear your badge again, and will refer to you as Niskel. He cuts to the chase and talks about arranging a meet up point for an informant. After you agree to do this, you will be asked to go and pick up Aldalad, who will be testifying against Borvo. You have to bring him back so they can send him back to HQ.

Go out and meet Aldalad, he may be aggressive, so again you know what to do. When I got there a player killed him thinking he was helping me, however I did manage to hit /conv before he was killed. Now, I think you actually do have to kill Aldalad, based on what Thale responds when you get back, but since a player killed him for me I am not sure.

When you go back to Thale you receive your reward (25 credits). When you talk to him agan he will tell you how disappointed he is that Aldalad was dead when you arrived. He ponders for a second and tells you that Maerzin, a Corsec agent, is about to land with all of the guns and the money they recovered from that bust. He will let him know to land elsewhere just to be on the safe side, and that with that evidence they might still have a case. Thale asks you to check back with him.

When you talk to Thale again he tells you that Maerzin has landed in a remote location to throw of Brovo's hit man. He asks you to go out there and pickup the evidence, and bring it back so he can take it to HQ. You are the only one for the job since you're the only who knows what all of Brovo's men look like. Again, burst run and get to that waypoint. When you get there you will have to kill the NPC (Borvo's Thug?), when you kill him you will get a locked briefcase.

Go back to Thale Dustrunner and talk to him. He will be surprised to see just how much money there is in the briefcase. He then tells you there has been a change in plans. It appears Maerzin isn't responding any calls, and he feels Brovo's guy may have gotten to him after you did. Thale is going to take care of that, but he asks you to take the money back to HQ, and that whatever you do, don't let Borvo get his hands on it!

Now, we have to remember that we are working for Borvo, correct? So we are going to take that briefcase back to Borvo Go to the starport and head for Moenia, Naboo.

4. Back to Moenia, Naboo

Go into the cantina and talk to Borvo (If you talk to his guards you will receive the same message he gave you last time - i.e. go to Corellia and assume false identity). If you talk to Borvo as it is, he will say 'Notyet' and will give you the standard message of how you are working for someone else, and that if you like to be released from that mission. Again, what you have to do is drop the briefcase onto him, after which he will say 'Good'. Talk to him again.

At this point I still got the previous 'Working for other message', I chose to start working for him, and got the first mission. Borvo asks you to deliver a message for him. You have to go and meet Kritus Morven's messenger. Once you agree to take Borvo's quest, he will say the following: You have the heart of a Jedi, always willing to aid the cause of peace. Interesting eh?

Burst run to the waypoint (when I got there ANOTHER player was there, sheesh) and /conv with the messenger. Once you manage to converse with him, the he says he will bring the message to Mr Morven right away. You are then told to return for your reward.

Go back and talk to Borvo, you receive your reward of 100 credits. Borvo will thank you for a job well done and tells you he has a feeling you will be good friends (I also got a message where he says 'Next' for no apparent reason).

When you talk to Borvo again he will tell you that your previous mission bore little fruit. Borvo wants you to teach Kritus Morven a lesson. When you agree to do the quest he will ask you to take out a smuggling den where Morven is storing a valuable commodity. Go to the waypoint and kill the smuggler there (there was no camp in my case). Once you kill him you will be asked to return for your reward (150 credits).

When you return Borvo will thank you again. Now, at this point you can talk to him for a third quest, where he tells you that one of his employees, a scientist, is out sampling but needs an escort to get back safely. Apparently this portion of the quest is genuinely broken, since once you get to the waypoint there will be no one there (this has happened to everyone).

Now, it would appear that the quest is broken at this point. It may or may not be but you can continue. Incidentally, this is where we take a big leap in logic, as one thing does not appear to be connected with the other. I theorize that finishing some of Borvo's quests allows you to talk to Huff (more below), but I am not sure about this.

5. Tosche Station, Tatooine

What you need to do now is go to Tosche Station, which is South of Anchorhead in Tatooine (Imperials come covert). The waypoint for Tosche Station is -690 -6724. Once you reach Tosche you want to speak to Huff Darklighter, a human, who is inside the main building at Tosche. I should mention here that all of Huff's quests are close to Tosche, and that being the way Tatooine is, the place is deserted, so there probably wont be any need to do the burst run thing we've been doing so much. Also, all of his quests spawn correctly

When you talk to Huff, he will tell greet you as a friend (funny, I didn't know him before) and will thank you for recovering his grandfather's gun (which, if you've been keeping score, we haven't! This may be a bug). In any case he will ask you for help. He wants you to go and find his niece, who just sent him an emergency call. Agree to this and you will get a waypoint. Huff also tells you that she is being hunted so you better watch out. Additionally, just as a curious note, the password you have to give to his niece is 'Biggs is Alive in Spirit', which I thought was really cool!

So, when you get to the waypoint and talk to the niece, she will agree to go back to Tosche with you. On your way back you may or may not find a group of aggressive NPCs spawn right in front of you (sent to attack Huff's niece I wonder?). You can fight them or you can go around them, it's up to you. Once you reach Tosche Huff will thank you again for helping out his family. He asks you to stick around while he goes to comfort his niece. The reward you receive is 25 credits.

Talk to Huff again. He will tell you how upset his is that there is a slaver out there kidnapping people to sell them off-world as slaves. He asks you to take him out. Slavery is not cool, so yes you agree. Go to the waypoint and kill that nasty slaver. Once killed, return to Huff for your... um... reward.

So, when you get back and talk to Huff, he will thank you once more from the bottom of his heart, saying how surprised he is that you just walked in and helped someone in need. He will tell you that since you were able to bring him his grandfather gun back (boy I was feeling guilty at this point), he'd like you to have one of the last things he killed with it (!), one of his family's heirlooms, which is now yours - the skull of a Krayt Dragon!!

So, there you have it... the skull is now yours. It is a huge thing, which looks rather cool. Now, you can do something else with this skull (other than keeping it), which will further get you into the story.... But alas, that is part of another guide. At least you now have the skull.

At this point, if you talk to Huff again, he will simply say 'Next', this may be an indication that there are additional quests given by him, and that you may need to give him something to trigger them, but I have not been able to find out what is needed.

6. Closing Notes

I just want to make a few closing comments. First is that all of this is, in my opinion, part of a much bigger quest. It is clear that potions are not working, but it is also clear that there is a lot in this game, which we have not yet discovered. One thing which we have to take a not of is that while the initial rewards seem paltry (a few credits here and there), the final reward was worth it.

I think that it is ok to post this information, as it is really nothing new, all of it is already available in the forums, it's just scattered in many different threads. Hopefully by posting it in one central place people will contribute with other portions of the story, or maybe other epic quests.

Yup, some of it is bugged... You may simply be able to head straight to Huff and do his missions, but I found I couldn't talk to him unless I did Borvo's quests first *shrug*. Your milage may vary I guess.

I just attempted the Quest (for the first time) in the TC and it was bugged so bad that even following all of the steps listed above, I could not get Huff to talk to me. Actually, even Borvo wouldn't talk to me, after doing the missions given by his guards.

I hope this gets fixed...

Just an update and i did the mission just before shut down, the only bit that is still bugged is Borvo's 3rd mission, and you dont need to do the crap before hand i could just talk to him straight away. So not completing the third quest i knew i had to go to Darklighter from the forums and spoke with him, did 2 missions et voila.  So guessing here you dont even need to do the Borvo missions, seeing as the last one doesnt work.

Just a note on the bad Thug faction statement.

If you stop at 79m and select the target and then type /conversationstart you will usually get the mission completed statement and the loot in your inventory.

Sometimes after I type /conversationstart I check my Inventory and the loot is in my inventory.

I go ahead and kill the thug and loot him, bingo I have 2 of the loot items exaclly the same.

This does not happen all the time but some of the times.

Umm yeah, you don't have to go through all that, I have a way that works everytime. I have tested this and it  100%. Find a noble that gives missions, IE(Waypoint: 5027 6813, Kaadara, Naboo) Accept and Decline the missions till you get the "locked briefcase". Go to Brovo and give it to him, this by itself unlocks Huff's missions. Go to Tantoonie, do 2 missions and your done. Enjoy!
