So you want to be a musician? You want to play rock, cheer people up with a little ditty, soothe people people with a soft ballad and tell jokes and make people laugh? Then you have come to the right place! This guide will help you get started and will start you on the path to becoming a Master at your craft. Only you can determine what you make of this profession and only you can make it fun. So with out further ado.......
So how do I start?
Well before you can start entertaining the masses and hold your first concert.....you need to get some training from an Entertainer Trainer to get you started. If you have created a new character as an Entertainer then you will already have the Novice Entertainer skill and you will not have to find the trainer. A trainer can be found in the following locations:
Tatooine – Mos Eisley, Bestine, Mos Espa, Mos Entha
Naboo – Dee'ja Peak, Kaadara, Keren, Moenia, Theed
Corellia – Tyrena, Coronet, Doabo Guerfel, Kor Vella
Talus – Dearic, Nashal
Rori – Narmle, Restuss
There are also trainers in a number of player cities, but as these are not static, then I have not listed them
Ok once you have trained as a Novice Entertainer you are ready to go!
Time to Jam!
Now take yourself to a cantina and get ready to jam. First you will need to set up a hotbar for your musical skills. Find an empty hotbar at the top of your screen and then make sure it shows 2 rows. If it doesn't, drag the bottom edge of the bar down so it expands to 2 rows. Now press
Press Ctrl – i to open your inventory. Select your Slitherhorn and drag that up in to slot 11 on the hotbar. Now close the Inventory and Command browser windows. You are now ready to jam.
Click the Slitherhorn hotbar button to equip your slitherhorn. Now click the start music button (Slot 9 if you followed the guide) and a dialog box will pop up asking which song you want to play. As you get better you will see more songs in the list. For the moment you only have a choice of Starwars 1 (sw1). Select it and click OK.
You will now start playing the basic tune and your character will be swinging his hips. Now click a flourish button, yes, any of them and you will see your character perform a little musical and dancing flourish. If you click a few in sequence, then your character will string the flourishes together. Now you are jamming!!!! You can create macro's and songs using these flourishes, but that will form part of a separate guide.
Progression
So, now you know how to play, but how do you learn more songs and different instruments? Well, you need to earn XP. There are 2 types of experience you need – Musical XP and Healing XP. You get Musical XP by flourishing when you play. You also gain more experience per flourish by being in a band. The bigger the band, the more xp you earn. So if you are in the cantina, ask if there is a band and if you can join. If there isn't one, then create one!
To earn Healing XP you need people with Battle Fatigue to listen to you while you play. This is something you don't have a lot of control over and you have to hope you are in a cantina that gets a lot of people coming in fatigued. If you are unsure if the cantina you are in is busy, ask around and someone will surely tell you where to go. As each server is different I can't list the best places here so you will have to ask. Another entertainer, musician or dancer will surely be able to help you out.
Once you have enough music xp you will be eligible to move up a rank and learn a new song and instrument. Now the fun really
starts!
What now?
Time to start entertaining. Whilst you are playing, talk to the patrons, sing a song, have a little banter, share jokes, gossip and general chit chat. Just standing there playing is not the most fun thing to do. So make your fun, and entertaining the patrons is fun. Plus they appreciate it, and if you have made them chuckle or smile then they are more likely to tip you some credits for your work.
I hope this guide helps you get started on your way to becoming a rock star!
Tanoo.
