The Royal Guard in Theed have received an anonymous threat against the life of the Queen. The city seems nervous and knows that something huge is about to begin...

Yep, fail.

Edit**

First part of the event did not in my experience go over well at all, at the start of the event the server just was not responding most of the time, I know I got kicked offline and the server would not let me log that character back in for some time. I would log him in and it would get to the loading screen and then boot me back to the character select screen, about 5 minutes later I was finally able to get back in. (some people I know of gave up on the event at this point and decided to do other things with their time/buffs)

I think part of the issue with the enjoyment of the event stemmed from the melee vs ranged issue and mob AI (I know I saw several people in chat talking about what a great event they made for riflemen), as a melee character it's not fun having to chase a mob around in the first place add in extremely heavy lag and it does get frustrating, but that's an entirely different issue.

Once we got past the cantina to the other side of the river the lag was considerably less, not sure whether that was from the devs working on it or because we were in a less populated part of Theed--my opinion it was both. The event was a lot more fun once I was able to actually make my character do things.

Great work devs, definitely turned the event around, it started out rough (I honestly thought the server was going down), but you got us through, thanks that was a lot of fun once it got going, I hope you learned a lot of good stuff from this event and I hope you guys do more in the future!

The RSF would like to apologize for the inconvenience, but Theed has been destroyed by terrorists.

Horrible execution of this event. The in game message very much gave the impression that it was going to be at the Palace then it was at the Starport, making everyone try and run over there on their speeders which caused horrible lag. Also the fact that everyone had to go past the Cantina only made it worse. This needs much more planning next time with more thought put into it. Also with the locking of Theed if anyone gets dropped because of lag spikes they are stuck out of the game until the event is over. Now I have 2 characters stuck in Theed with no end time available.

I have had no issues logging back in after being dropped by lag--however--the lag is pretty bad, and as a purely non combat toon, can't really participate other than cheerleading xD

Edit to add: The Answer mentioned turning off shadows in IRC. Before client crashed I did--wow, what a change. I went from lagged to nearly a stand still to lag-free.

I thought it was great. Fun times. A little lag.

From what I understand, TA saw a lot of things and made some changes based on the bottlenecks/issues he saw. To me, that's a good thing.

Opportunities like this are how you make improvements. You see what is causing the issue and you can fix it. If you never identify the things holding you back, you can never fix them and move forward.

Great event.

That was a good event. Yes there was lag but it was an interaction of players and factions.
A more broad based event (all of theed, not just the starport) would have helped distribute players and lag.

I just hope they are all gone in a few hours.... killed or dev removed.

Yep, server locked as soon as I used my ticket.I disconnected several times but was always able to load back in.

Edit to add: was chaotic, but I had a blast. Would love to see more stuff like. I little bit more notice (if possible) would help players organize a bit more.

Awesome Event IMO had a lot of fun storming the Palace and rescuing the princess ;) Event started off a little rocky and my own personal experience of the beginning was not very fun at all (died because of lag ) Aside from the lag this event was great and very fun glad to see the community turn out in such big numbers Awesome job u guys!

P.S : Next time though watch where your spawning things <:P me and a bunch of others got like 10 mobs spawned right on top of them out of no where D:

Had a blast at this event. Died 5 times, blew up a 250k credit gun, probably will never be able to use my comp armor again, and have never had that much fun on Bas.

Hope to see everyone at the next city attack.

Exactly. I heard a lot of people complaining about the lag it caused in Theed, the near deadlock, and massive server wide lag spikes. but, because of this, our Devs now have a better understanding of what our server can and can not do as of this time in regards to the stress of the event... Plus, it WAS darn fun, even though I too was disconnected a few times.

Thanks for the Screen Shots!

As for all of you that did not enjoy this Event because of the lag, we do apologize for the beginning of the event. The lag from the amount of players in one area caused us also to lag as we spawned the NPC's and yes some of them ended up being placed all on top of each other. We did our best to remove them as quickly as we possibly could. As for crafters, entertainers and doctors that were hit in the crossfire, we tried our best to keep an eye on you and keep you rez'd. If we missed some because of the chaos, we also apologize for this.

On a lighter note, I believe that in the end it turned out to be a great event and we appreciate all who came out to participate! Thank you to all that were patient with us and stayed in good spirits despite the minor issues!!

I for one had a good time even though I spent much of it as a corpse. Did get quite a few tips healing people with my Novice Doctor so that was a nice bonus.... until they came into the Medical building and killed me again LOL!

Yeah, I figured it was a good stress test and didn't let it get to me.

I have always had shadows turned off so that wasn't an issue. The rubberbanding and getting the "you are too far from target" message when I was close enough to the NPC I was shooting was my experience.

Like I said though, it was a good test to see what the server could or could not handle at this time.

Shamelessly reposting these from the "Theed" thread in the Basilisk server discussion forum (because I'm in two of them, /flex):

Here are a dozen more screenies from the event.

I posted these as just links, so it wouldn't take forever for this page to load.

Also, I would like to see other screenies anyone else took.

Thanks to all who came out! We had way more people than I ever would have guessed. These events used to bring 100-150 people (on a really good night) on Nova and Liberator. At one point in the evening, TA mentioned we had over 400 people in Theed!

Great job!

Good times. The lag was slowing me down otherwise i would have really mopped it up out there. Only 1 thing bothering me at this point is that I am master rifleman and with ranged damage mit 3 I was getting hit for 1.6k at times. Most time only for 700 to 800. Didnt think they would hit me that hard with that going for me.

On a lighter note it was awesome how we all just grouped together, rebs, imps, multiple guilds in a groups, everyone for themost part was extremely friendly and helpful. Good jobs devs, good job players as well. Keep it up and lets do this again.

I think Im sensing a fight club coming soon.

Great event and great way to stress test. I had considerable lag but it was on and off nothing really bad for the amount of people there.

Gave up trying to get to it when it took me close to 30 minutes to get of Dantoine and get to naboo.

Need to do this on some of the upper tier worlds in some of the unpopulated POIs. Would be great way tp introduce the POIs once you populate them.

Don't let the naysayers get to ya...this was a great event! Basically spawned the entire DWB in Theed! Loved it, once i eventually made it out of cnet and into Theed. One of the best parts about it was that near the end, everyone had figured out that in order to not die constantly, we ALL had to work together as a team. The ranged folks stopped running for their lives (mostly) and let us melee actually help them out. Yeah sure, there were a few nubs who, whether to be mean or just because they were stupid, decided hey let me strafe shot these 20 sbd's and drag them over to the tkm's who were spinning...but other than that, I personally was impressed by the way we all worked together towards the end. It's one of the main reasons pre-cu was then and still is now a great game...the sense of community. Look at what was happening over in wow at the same time...hackers killing entire cities. Whereas in our beloved game, we all worked together to save a city!

And to all the docs and cm's who braved the messed up aggro that is and always was pre-cu, a major /tiphat. Especially Cahain (i think im spelling it right). My guild's healers died many times (although they did their jobs well and I personally wouldve died a dozen times over without them, instead of just once), and honestly man i have no earthly idea how u lived through as much as you did... but many many times when i was nearly a goner, i would get hit with either a ranged or area heal that put me right back into the fight. Major kudos's brother.

Long Live Pre-cu!
