    What does it take to become a bounty hunter?

    You must master the entire marksman and scout trees to be eligible to train novice bounty hunter from an npc.

    How many skill points does it cost to master bounty hunter?

    This leaves 32 skill points that can be used in any other professions.

    I�ve mastered marksman but how do you get through the scout tree?

    The hardest part of becoming a Bounty Hunter are Traps and Camps.

    Camps you have to just grind out. I would recommend to start out in a hunting group and hopefully you will be in a group that shares turns and heals everyone up so you get the good xp faster. I also did a bunch of xp 'afk' grrrrrinnnnd out camps for 20-30 minutes. To get the fullxp without anyone visiting the camp I think it takes 30 minutes.

    Trapping is a little more difficult because it seems to fail so often, and was the last thing I finished...I think they fixed the failing rate so that should be a big improvement.

    I started out just trapping everything I could find outside of a city such as Wayfar...those poor kreetles and gorgs. The xp went fast at first then got harder as I went up the tree.... I would then go on large hunt groups on tatooine and only trap. I found that I was way more successful using traps starting out unarmed and using a trap and then after successfully using a trap switching to a gun...

    once I got the level3 trap. Phencindine (sp) I went to Lok and trapped a lot of red cons ...that dart was awesome, it would slow big things down, I could do it with an equipped gun and as soon as it wore off I would drop another down on them...for 150xp a pop. That I did solo or with 1 or 2 other players. I have yet to use the last trap, because I haven't been hunting animals as much since becoming a Bounty Hunter. Again there is rumors that traps are going to be usefull on sentient beings someday.

    The bone spur should be used with caution on tough creatures...as it also makes creature go berserk and that was brutal.

    So you�ve finally mastered the pre-requisites, what do you do now?

  • 1) The first thing you need to do is go and find a NPC bounty hunter teacher. And train Novice which costs 5000 credits. There is one in Tyrena, Corellia that is also next to some bounty hunter terminals.

  • 2) Take a mission from the Bounty Hunter Terminal.


  • How to do Bounty Hunter Missions

  • 1) The next step after getting a mission from the terminal is finding your informant.

  • 2) Your informant is an npc that you must "converse" with.

  • 3) I find the novice informants are not usually far from the terminals...but that isn't a law.

  • 4)Once you converse with the correct npc he will update you with the marks bio-signature.

  • 5) When you get the biosignature he will say something like "it took you long enough" even if it's only been like 30 seconds from the terminal to him and he will tell you he updated the waypoint...check your map and see where the waypoint is.

  • 6) Get to the waypoint and there will be your mark.

  • 7) Simply kill the target. See the tactics described in this thread or make up your own!


  • Ok so now you should have some cash ~6-7K (I am sure they will change the fee sometime so don't worry about 1K)

    Intermediate to Master goes fast now...

  • 8)I recommed Get Training in combat support...this will give you more damage and higher accuracy/rate per fire and make that grueling fight a little faster.

  • 9)Do about five or six of those (maybe less)and you will have enough XP for master in the current system.

  • 10) Buy a seeker droid and if you have plenty of $$$ an imperial droid...they are actually called something else now when you buy them but still say �imperial droid� in your inventory...they are the 1K credit one's.

  • 11) Train Droid control/droid speed for when you get to your target and the mark is not there. You can try find bounty and then find and track (Of course sometimes the mission system is hosed an you will not find them...I never bothered to go to 0,0 to check! hmmm)

  • 12) Advance up the Investigator track and watch as the missions get harder and you need to find new informants and eventually use the off world imperial droid to find the planet you need to go to and then use the seeker droid to track him across the planet.

  • 13)Use maskscent and your wits as the planets get really hard...Lok/Endor etc...but the combat techniques all worked for me.


  • Bounty Hunter fighting techniques

  • 1) Find Mark, he should be standing under or near the waypoint

  • 2) Scout the area, he usually doesn�t attack when he sees you.

  • 3) Find a quick escape route where he can�t see you or where you will be able to get out of range...why?..that's coming up

  • 4)Buff stats from foraged foods, go prone and then attack mark initially with 1 threaten shot from the �ideal� range with your best damage weapon and watch as he moves around and doesn�t return fire.

  • 5)As soon as he starts firing back, or you take 1/2 damage. RETREAT,...unless you want to get incapped and possibly death blown. These guys have as much hp,action, action and mind points as dark adapts (Iv'e seen 5000,5000,5000)...they just don�t attack as hard, but they are still very strong. You won't last going toe to toe against them.
  • 6)Once out of range, or during retreat hit peace and end fighting. He will too.

  • 7)Watch injured mark walk right back like a good little target to under/around the waypoint. He doesn't heal.

  • 8)YOU Heal up as needed, do a little foraging for the good stat perks!...oh forgot to mention those...always buff your stats before fighting! I've gotten well up into the 2000s for action and hp.

  • 9)Go back to step 4 until you kill him.

  • 10) This all goes a lot faster if you are grouped with 2 or 3 others.
    Expect about 1000-1300 WeaponXP. 100-300 CombatXP.

      well, seems nice, but now i will say what i have ran into. ok trapping is easy to get, just throw mesh traps over and over and over again at pickets on dantooine, you will love the xp you get from it trust me. ok back to camp thing, i got over 600+ xp from just running in and out of my camp them sitting there for 10-15min, did that for about 2.5 hours bam, camping done. getting AP for novice bounty hunter i had a friend who just let me teach him the same thing over and over again, ok there is my AP. now the probblem i ran into was the combat xp, i found out that if i just went to go fight pickets and thought of other things, i would get there over time, and i did. my pistole and carbine were rdy to learn just as soon as i got BH. LLC is every were on the tempest server, i have 4 of them. getting xp was easy, and i get 4k xp from pickets and jantas on dant, i feel sorry for those who think 1500xp is good. i havent realy even touched invest yet, i have only the first bar rdy to learn. from what everyone says its a pain. and i guess im lucky cause im not having probblems with my marks. my probblem with BH is that we arent as feard as what we should be. we should be the second most deadliest proffesion under jedi. we have not been done justice, and i know dev's know that. i guess overall BH is not as hard as others make it. we have room for improvement and i think they are going to update us BH, so i wont leave the proff. another thing, how is it that BH are overall the weakest when it comes to PvP? wow, that is so backwards, my advise is, go to dant and kill pickets, watch the xp roll in.

      BH is not an easy class to master which is why they are still workin on it. The reason they are moveing Eye Shot to master Bh is because Pistoleer (or how ever you spell it) are just takeing up bh to get to it. If you are expecting to power game your way though BH forget about it. Its not going to happen because you cant kill just anything to get investigation. All other combat classes are the easy ones you can power game it right to the top. Which is why there arnt that many Master BH's. Yes the Investigation does suck but it also keeps a lot of lil punks from takeing up this eleit class. Scerew all of this bs about just taking the weapons up if they moved the power moves up to master their would be a lot more fear to the BH which is the way it should be.

      Dude yall just need to get an LLC(light lightening cannon) and its like smooth sailin from there.Before you get LLC 1 its a little tough cause u miss like crazy but after that these guys are easy as long as u dotn get inv 1 i havent gotten that far yet im savin up to hit that cap first. But yeah i almost have LLC4 and since its a new skill the exp goes up FAST like im fighting with my friend and hes getting like 500xp per kill and im gettin like 1200xp. So all you have to do is get a LLC (if your on Eclipse server just ask around for Stry'ker he has tons of them that are the best ive seen) and once u got that get yoruself a pet like a wrix or somin and just have him be a meatshield on the mark. He will probably die but by the tiem that happens your mark is almost dead and you havent even been touched yet. So yeah some guy said LLC's are hard to come by on some servers. Well i dont know about that i havent looked for em on other servers but if thats the case then if u got a bad server then im sorry for you. and by the way, whoever said they were hard, I've taken on 5 banthas at one time iwth my cowardly gurreck.

      Combat XP is gained by using gernades to do damage.

      Simply purchase a lot and get in a hunt group.

      Throw gernades and all your damage will be combat XP.

      Buffs are done by Doctors for best results ask for Buff D's. (Master Doctor)

      Use pets.  Bottomline is ingame your character is a level 10 pet in galaxies. CH 1-1-0-0 allows you to control a Greater Sludge Panther. (8k stats 65% Kinetic armor) Post nerf it will be any combo to get 23 + pet level

      tree pet level is as follows (you get lvl 12 pets at novice CH

      master=10
      5-5-5-5=20
      3-3-3-3=12
      2-2-2-2=8
      2-2-2-2=8
      novice=12

      total=70

      Get the 10k Investigation XP before training.

      Go to Coronet to hunt you can work it to talk to the terminal and the informant to get missions in the same town. Accept>/conversationstart>ctrl V>look for waypoint in same town>abort mission or head to mark

          It's very simple. Just don't train in Investigation until you have 10k BH xp. That is the cap on xp. Trust me, once you get investigation you have to buy droids (seekers ans arakyds), send them out, travel to such planet and kill your mark. XP is still only at 10% as of this message. It took me 5 hours one night to figure all of this out. It seemed noone could help me (or wouldn't). Also, it seems some droid engineers have decided to stop selling us droids since we will be able to hunt jedi.......

              You CANT use Bounty Hunter Droids until you trained at least one level in investigation and you SHOULD not train in investigation until you have 10K investigation XP wich will get you investigation 1 & investigation 2!

              Seeker droid gives you the waypoint of your mark ON THE SAME planet that you are on IF you are on the right planet and it wont be of any use to you before you train in investigation 1 or better!

              Arakyd droid will tell you on what planet your mark is but it wont work UNTIL you see one Bounty Hunter Investigation Informant (second level informant)

              Informants :

              1) Novice Bounty Hunter Informant (Cant use BH Droids for those missions)

              2) Master Investigation Bounty Hunter Informant

              3) Master Bounty Hunter Informant

              To use a Bounty Hunter droid just left click and hold the mouse on the stack of the droids to show the radial menu and you will see the item 3) Probe Droid Command if you have have at least investigation 1 or 2. Then select the sub menu Find Bounty Target on the droid.

      Can a Bounty Hunter make a group of players and go out and kill marks with the group helping to take it down?

      Traps : Put one of each type of trap into the hotkey box's. Each different type of trap gives you trapping exp. on the same creature! In fact first trap should be one that stun's them, then follow up with the other types to rake in the exp. Also the stunning trap (lvl 4) is the best since you can keep using it on the creature your fighting (once the effect wears off).

      Camping : Do what the crafters do to gain fast exp. power crafting =) Make single use tent till your able to make the Multi-use tent. Then keep making multi-use tent's till you reach lvl 4 survival. To finish off Survival make the lvl 4 Trap (bout 78 exp a pop) <--- will need 3 tool kits for this btw (23 second delay till next try) so you can overlap production and gain exp MUCH faster.

      Best Creature : Levisquall's on Rori (average about 1200m to 1500m out of each City on the planet) They take forever to kill but each gives about 1400 weapon exp., 140 combat exp. and Trap (120 each throw!), 190 scouting exp when ya skin them.

      Male Squall's and Viv Vur types give much less but fast spawns and plenty in one Rocky Shelter (20 or so) but for every 10 I was getting roughly 900 scouting exp. weapon exp was in the 500's.

      Oh forgot to mention ... every Squall (rabit) class are SUPER slow, no need for burst run =)

      Maxed Scouting over my 3 days off this week

      As for Marksman (rogue corsec troopers)...no need to be there to play your character either =) set it up and went to work....came back and bamm 60k worth in the weapon I was using, switched weapons when I went to bed. test it out, you'll figure it out.

      oh 4 days for Max'n Marksman btw

      MAX both marksman and scouting, THEN go for master slots. This way you can keep training and max your exp out for both class's (either way you train it all pool's together) once ya hit 1240 exp then go train in both class's.

      My method of getting this done in 10 minutes was a creature handler who didn't want the exp in marksmanship, so he kept reducing down to ranged lvl 2 each time i trained him (had 78k worth or so in excess exp) course I tipped him 25k. Ask around you never know, they may just do that for ya, even crafters, i'm sure they have exp built up somewhere they don't need.

      As for the cash part (killing the rabbits nonstop) I ended up with about 50k worth in pelts (sold to tailors) and the rogue corsec troopers drop alot of locked containers and disks. (had 15 on bazzar at one time and twice as much in containers) Also they drop treasure maps more often then anyone else it seems (nice chunk of cr's too)

      Ok, first i would like to say, PLEASE STOP THE INSULTS! We are all above that, and yes, we are all different. A lot of people love to help one another < you know who you are > and then there are some of us that have had rough days. < i know who i am... oops > Being a Bounty Hunter is something i think everyone of us has yearned for since we started, even tinkering with the notion that we could off someone that owes someone else money AND get paid for it WOOT! Sounds like fun to me. So lets all work together and offer suggestions to this wonderful service SONY is offering us, knowing the whole time that "It is still in construction" You guys ALL ROCK no matter how many times your char killed me.       Some BH's might be wondering "damn, can i get the same armor jango had" not sure...
      as far as i know (not even playing SWG yet LOL)
      its mandelorian armor..and they're dead anyway..... if anyone can find/has the armor could ya post back? im sure u guys think this is a totally stupid N00B post but im just interested

        he means is that the armour jango fett wears is mandorian. Jango himself i think is human. With the books, well if there is a clash in facts between the movies and books the movies take precedence.

      I just became a novice BH, and got my butt kicked by my mark, Anyone got any pointers out there for a very humbled novice BH? couple other questions how do u earn investigation exp? I got my first missions from a terminal in keren are there other terminals that give easier missions this mark was supposed to be easy pfft. Tuskens are easier then this guy took 30mins to get to him & he mopped the floor with me.

        Buy yourself a nice combat droid to draw your mark's fire while you kill him.

        ok first thing, You have to kill a Mark to get experiance in Investigation. Right now Investigation tree is under repair and hopefully a patch will be implamented. As far as taking a mark out I would have to know if you have undershot, Also switch up a bit by using pistol bleed shot if you got it. Id work up the Carbine and pistol skills first and do regular missions for good weaponry before tackling Investigation and large marks. Just my opinion. Anyway I used a CDEF Carbine with Underhand shot so that I dont get a big ham cost, Then if you have bleed shot hit him with that. Then use an armor pericing weapon like medium. I have a Laser Carbine that is dishing out about 295 points max damage. This is very effective as well. Know your weapons. Also very effective is a scatter gun. Get one as soon as you can. It is an important tool to killing marks.

      What profession has this skill?

          Which btw is stupid if you think about it. You have to master Marksman to become a Bouty Hunter in the first place, so there is no more "training" in combat support.

          If you kill an animal with a pistol and get, say, 800 pistol experience, you will get 80 combat experience. The combat exp you get is always 1/10 of the weapon exp. And you can't save up combat exp because you need ranged weapon support ability specialist for master marksman. But with all the exp it takes to get specialist in rifle, pistol, and carbine, you should have almost enough. Weapon exp needed for the 3 specialist skills: 273,000. Combat exp from that: 27,300. Total combat exp needed for ranged support specialist: 30,550. So you need 3,250 more combat exp for ranged specialist and 40,000 for novice BH. But while you're getting that, use a pistol for the best exp and you'll rack up pistol exp for the BH pistol discipline. SO you will be helping yourself from that extra combat exp needed.

      Im an Expert Bounty Hunter on the Kettemoore server.  While it is great that you took the time to create this guide, 90% of the info is wrong or simply made up.
      In the future, before you post guides such as these, please be sure the information is accurate. Many upcoming Bounty Hunters will be at a great loss if they follow the advice in this guide.

        FYI Expert Bounty Hunter is pistol lvl 4

           Investigator is Carbine Lvl 4

        Avenger is LLC lvl 4

        I know this because I obtained them all.

        Whats wrong with the info?

        a) Traps is by far the easiest skill to build up. All you do is hurl traps at mobs. How is that difficult?

        b) The advice sounds made-up, speculation of how you THINK things should be. As far as Investigation is concerned:

        Dont get level 1 investigation until you've accumulated 10000xp. Thats the cap. Use the terminals in Tyrena and take shuttles to the targets once you've gotten easy to reach marks. For those who need it, the trainer in Tyrena is right outside the starport, a little to the right behind the crafters. A medic by the bank acts as an informant. Repeat until you get a close mission mark and go get em. Once you hit level 2 missions, it opens up a whole new hell.

        Level 2 missions: Stick to the same planet and city as its a hub to most of the other worlds. You first need to buy the imperial probe droids, send one up, which will tell you what planet the mark is on. Then, with a lot of seeker droids on hand, go to the planet and send one out. Be warned, these targets move about and on a very slim occasion, take a shuttle to another planet. Send out a droid every five minutes or so get an idea where the mark is headed. Sometimes you have to cut him off. Regaurdless, it takes time, a lot of time. One alternative is to keep grabbing missions, sending up seekers until a mark pops up on the same planet you're on.

        c) You get 4000+ exp per mark and they are best taken with a pet on hand. creature handler is highly reccomended, if only for these missions. Especially those who wish to get master.

        d) Put that in your book

        There might be some outdated info that I overlooked but this guide is at least quite accurate. Y don't U tell us what's wrong here & what's made up? & by the way what's EXPERT BH?

          this guide is only acurate if you only intend to take easy missions, where you never leave the planet, but there is nothing mentioned about using your seeker to track offworld marks. Oh and I believe an expert bh is someone who has gotten all of the investigation boxes filled, but not the master box, which happens on alot of servers for lack of material to build light lightning cannons, so you cant fill your skills in that area.

      ok so i got master scout and master marksman, but i need to get 40k combat xp when the average creature deals out around 10 a piece???

      any tips on how i can get an assload of combat xp? right now i've averaged about 4-5k a day, but at this rate it'll be another week. help me out here.

      trapping is easy as crap. all u do (this is what i did) is make the prelim trap, i think its called wire mesh or something, and extend ur quick link bar so u have lots of extra slots. FILL THE SLOTS WITH TRAPS. now find some really hard guys and just throw traps at them til u get incapped, rest and make more traps, then repeat. its pretty easy and i mastered trapping in one day. if you trap bull rontos u get around 300xp per hit. i got around 3k worth of xp for each go. try it i promise it works!
