** How do I transfer a harvester to another person?

Select the harvester and enter /transferstructure PlayerName.

Actually I believe that selecting the harvester/factory does nothing.  Being close to it is all that counts; and you have to be careful which one you're really closest to in a harv or fac farm.

Instead of typing names, you can target the recipient and just type /transfer and it is done.  Same as a house, except you're outside, because there's no inside

P.S. If Q-3PO loves the posting so much, why doesn't he shorten it -- by eliminating some of the hair-tearing bugs that the FAQ tries to work around!

I'd only add that there are a couple other types of resources that cannot be mined automatically: bone, hide, and meat, especially.  (Also milk, and certain drops for RIS).

As a Master Armorsmith always in need of wooly hide, I'm surprised how often people ask me what kind of harvester they need to mine it.  New players should take novice scout, and harvest from what they kill.  Hide in the 500 unit range can easily fetch 10-30 cpu if it has decent stats.

Thank you.  Great guide.

As a "non-crafter"...  I had just recently become aware that I could use a harvestor.   This thread was very useful for me to understand the ins and outs.

Good info but I wished you had spoken to creature resources. It would have made for a good available vs. unavailable juxtaposition. Those professions that rely on creature resources continue to be in pain, no matter what other things are changed.

For artisan resources this is great!  Though you might want ot mention that there are lots of reosurces that you can get without harvesters, besides, meat, hide and bone.  You can search lair for eggs and live sample and if you get really luck maybe a horn.  You can fish and there are a couple of professions with forage commands to gather up stuff as well...  There is also milk and sample of creatures dna, etc...

As a Master Ranger, let me just add a few things about meat, bones, hides, and foraged items since several people have mentioned them:

The ONLY way to gather meat, bone, and hide without buying them is to have at least Novice Scout. You'll need to kill a creature to get them and you can only get one of them. Also, many birds (maybe all of them) have only meat and bone, not hide resources while durni, gurrecks, and scavenger rats (I play mostly on Corellia) will have meat, bone, and hide resources. In addition, while durni and paralopes have 'herbivore meat,' 'wooly hide,' and 'animal bones,' mynocks and rasps have 'avian meat' and 'avian bones' but no hide.

Similar to the way Akade is the same no matter where you get it, avian meat from rasps is exactly the same as avian meat from mynocks, so long as they are on the same planet. All meat, hide, and bone have specific names (kafofe is the current 'leathery hide' on Lok on the Corbantis server right now), but all creatures on a given planet with the same type of hide will have hide of the same name, which also goes for meat and bone. Each of these three animal resources also have separate attributes, just as the organics and inorganics that Wuu talked about do, and they also go through periodic shifts. I don't know exactly how often they shift, but I believe I've seen others post that they shift more frequently than artisan resources, so if you find something good, gather it in droves. Looking at the Corbantis trade server, kafofe leathery hide is apparently the best leathery hide on any of the servers based on the deman for it, so I'm gathering as much as I can get my hands on before it goes *poof*. Until recently there was also a bug with gathering recently shifted resources from animals where it would only give one unit of whatever resource had just shifted regardless of the size of the creature and what it should normally give, but I haven't seen any evidence of this in a good while, so I'm hoping it's a bug that's been squashed.

And finally, as far as foraged resources, until there is a change, there are very few things that the Scout's /forage command can find: a small variety of plants, a small variety of jars of fruits and vegetables, and certain rare items that are bugged in a way that prevents them from actually being collected. All of the items that can be collected right now give minor buffs to certain resources for short (or very short) periods of time. The best buffs I've seen from a foraged plant are something like +200 to health and action for 200 seconds, while the majority of things I get seem to have +50 health, action, and mind for 200 seconds. So basically foraged items serve best as pet food and not much else. As for the rare items, they have been bugged since Beta 2 at least so that when you find one there is a system message that tells you that you could not collect something because your inventory is full even when it's not.

I have collected small amounts of eggs and horn from searching various creature lairs, but it is usually in very small amounts (three to five units) and very rarely found, so I don't know if eggs and horn shift in the same way other resources do or if they are random every time. As far as milk and seafood, I have never actually seen any in-game and I have no idea how they are collected or off of what creature, so if someone could share that, I'd be much obliged.

Great Post!

I often have people /tell me that I'm charging too much for my BER4 Miners & BER9 Wind Generators because they've seen others in the Market for half as much, not realizing the difference between mine and theirs.  Hopefully some of those people will see this post and stop complaining!  I think its worth it to pay an extra 1000 credits for something that will get them twice the resources.

Seafood comes from fish. When you catch one, there is a 'Fillet' option on the radial. When you select it, you will get seafood, chum bait and the (empty) fish. It seems that the seafood works like the meat and you usually get the same kind every time from all of a planet's fish.

I've heard (not verified personally as I have yet to see any at all anywhere.) that milk is a drop from NPCs.

I buy & sell milk in lots no lower that 10, Many times in lots of 100+, I have personally looted as many as 18 in one lootbox at Kitty City (The Lost City Of Durbin on Talus) so I can confirm MYSELF that it IS a Loot, But more times not from NPC's than possible from Loot Boxes such as "Loose Debris", "Mag Seal Boxes, "Corpse Skeletons" Etc Etc.

If You want to see more Milk, Horn, Crustacean & Mollusks than ANYONE on ANY SERVER in on room, Make a character on Shadowfire & Come to the shop mentioned below in My sig.

(P.s. I reserve the right to this clame even if You come in the shop & dont see as much as others, as I mentioned allready, I sell alot of the milk to Locat BE's weekly so I may not have alot of Milk when You arrive, The rest I dont sell much of but allways have alot, As of the time of this post I have approximately 200 Milk, 300 Horn, 150 Mollusks, 125 Crustacean)

Something else You may want to add if You do a version 1.1

When placing Complexes Right Clicking Rotates the complex (Harvesters, homes, Factories etc), Left clicking Places it.

You can only place the Complex when it showes as Green on the map (Most of the time) and You cannot place Complexes outside of the Servers Boundries, When it showes a Red base for the Complex You cannot place it (Obviously from the last statement),

You can also move around while im the Placement mode to view if more than one lot is placable before investing the time by simply measuring the area by surface markings, This becomes Vital in cases where You would rather place more than one structure in the same area before you find out the hard way.
