Didn't they call the Corporate Authority folks "Corpers?"  And I'm sure that CorSec is short for Corellian Security

Great list!  Here are a few more things to add I have noticed newer players having problems with.

Pressing the Period .  Key on the number pad toggles the Chase Camera on and off.

Pressing Ctrl-Enter drops and raises the Chat window bar where your spatial, group chat etc are located.

Ctrl-up arrow allows you to scroll up through your recent chat typings.

Ctrl-down lets you scroll back down through your recent chat typings.

Ctrl-Left or Right allows you to move the cursor in the chat window back and forth through the text you are typing.

Use PrtSc button often in the beginning so you can Print the Screen and remember your journey all the way through.

Numberlock allows you to run/walk without needing to press the right mouse button or use the arrow keys.

Type //  in the spatial and you will get a list of all the commands available in game.

It is always a good idea to right click the spatial and create a new tab for only Instant Messages.  Helps organize incoming /tells

/notepad is a good way to save and store notes for a period of time.

/mailsave and /maildelete are good ways of organizing your mailbox if it gets too full.  you will get a confirm before mail deletes

Ctrl-Backspace in the game makes those goofy square box characters you may see in chats.

/eject gets you out of being stuck in most cases inside buildings or in objects.

Cut, Copy, and Paste are available but need to be set up by each player.  Press Ctrl-O for the Options menu and go to the Control window.  At the bottom of the control window is a button called Keymap.  In keymap I think you can click on either UI, Chat, or All to find the commands for Cut, Copy, and Paste without commands next to them.  I mapped mine to Ctrl-Shift-X for cut Ctrl-Shift-C for copy and Ctrl-Shift-V for paste since Ctrl-C is mapped to your Character window and Ctrl-V is your map.  Of course you can change this around anyway you like.  For Ctrl-Shift-V you may get a window that asks you if you want to change the command from a debugging command to Paste but since no one is programing this game, you can just ignore that and click yes to conitinue.

Ctrl-H brings up the Holocron which has a lot of good info inside it about different problems or questions.  It is basically the ingame FAQ as well as a good place to report bugs etc.

I know this is a stupid question, but I'm new to the game, and I was wondering how you get those Speeder Bikes that I see everyone riding around on?

   Thanks,  DJ

Welcome to Star Wars Galaxies.

You have to buy the vehicles from players.  Try looking at your map and look under vendors.  Try to find a shop that sells vehicles.  Or just ask around, there is usually people around selling them.

to avoid bugging the heck out of unsuspecting players, try to limit your search for master artisans they are the ones who make speeders.  You can search for any ones nearby by hitting cntrl P and going to the search tab.  Then go to jobs scroll down to master artisan and BAM it tells you who is a master artisan and is nearby.  Drop them a tell and they'll hopefully give you their prices and where their vendor is.  Good luck, oh and the speeders are going to be expensive, bout 20-30k depending on your galaxy so be warned.

Just read the armor macro for beginners which is a brilliant idea.

Just thought I'd add tho,

If you are going into to combat,it makes good sense to include your best gun in the macro too !!

Happy Hunting

Thought I'd add a small tip for those that move into the marksman profession.

1.) Tumble will cause a small amount of damage to you, you can incap. yourself with it if you are not careful.
2.) Each type of weapon excells at a certain range. Don't expect to get the best attack modifier at close range with a rifle or extreme range with a pistol.

Some of this may have been mentioned earlier. I only skimmed the posts after the first main one. If so then I appologies for double posting info.

Coming back to the game from the time when mounts and vehicles weren't included, getting a vehicle was my priority. No way was I going to spend my life running everywhere.

First, I found a vendor on Tatooine that sold vehicles, and went and got a price for the cheapest landspeeder. I think it was 10K. The vendor I used can be found in the player city by Bestine - apologies for not remembering which one.

Knowing that I needed to make 10K to afford the speeder, I found destroy missions that paid well and that I could do, and got 2 both in the same direction. Some of these involved destroying camps, so I'm aware my faction rating has been hammered for some groups on Tatooine. But the need to get a vehicle was greater.

I got back into the game on a Saturday morning. By the following Monday morning I had a cheap landspeeder. By mid-week I had a speederbike, and by the following weekend I had a swoop bike (and a customisation kit lol). And this was playing just a couple of hours a day. Getting a landspeeder first meant subsequent destroy missions were done a little faster than by running everywhere, the speederbike speeded things up again and now the Swoop utterly rocks.

Getting a vehicle has kept me in-game and happy. The running around before was utterly soul-destroying. Now I can do missions quickly (well, get to them quickly) which has made the game the fun I wanted it to be when I first signed up.

I'd add that once I'd got the cash for the landspeeder I went to the vendor and bought the vehicle. Only I hadn't bought the vehicle, I'd bought a deed for the vehicle. There was a moment of panic (thinking I needed to find someone to make it for me) before I stepped outside the vendor's building and used the deed. Voila, one landspeeder. There was a further panic when the landspeeder wasn't there when I logged back on, and it wasn't in my inventory (CTRL-I), but some kind fella pointed out that it's stored in my datapad (CTRL-D). That was a very scary moment...

Good luck.

Here is a guide for you, dont store things in the stockroom of vendors. they will disappear after 7 days. maybe longer, but you are taking your chances.

How long will items stay in my vendors stockroom?
Items can remain in a stockroom for up to 7 days, however they will disappear if they are left there for longer time.  Please note that vendors are not designed to incorporate storage of items.  Items that are lost from vendors that are intentionally used for storage cannot be returned by Customer Service.

so be aware and dont loose items like i have.

Understanding is a three edged sword, your side, thier side and the TRUTH
- Captain John Sheridan, Babylon 5

So much for a Smuggler revamp, maybe they should just rename us, it would take less time and be easy to do.
"Useless" would be my first choice as a name suggestion.

of course at this point there is no reason to revamp anything. SOE should just shut the game off.
