Cliffnotes for those new to this thread are as follows.....
Smeds a redbull junkie with sleep issues, and is trolling like mad - theres no roll-back - rumours are untrue - crafters may be getting some love - No expansion anytime soon (they ditched it after we cried too much) - if your a programmer for a swg emu then send Smed your cv - Smed called for back-up after community baffled him - back-up has arrived and is baffled at Smeds increased post count - everyones about 2 pages behind the convo......
Nice summation...

There has been an outcry on the forums for a roll back. As i understand the term Rollback it would mean rerurning to the old system and scrapping everything that happened since the NGE.
Please clearly state weather this is even possible and discribe what the end results would be if it were?
I will jump in and answer this honestly:
We are not doing a roll back. We are not planning a roll back. We are not discussing a roll back. Once again, we are not doing a roll back.
as pvp has been mentioned here..can we expect a pvp system in which pvpers can advance, work together and spend their whole play time in if they wish and actually have fun and opponents .. so something drastic or will it be something like we had up to now again that is just a small part of the game not encouriging anyone to do it?
Yes, we have a large scale GCW battleground as well as a PvP leaderboard and rewards/advancement system in the pipe.
We recognize that the current profession system doesn't allow for any real level of character differentiation. As such, we're currently working on an "Expertise" system, that grants the players "points" to spend on specialization. The expertise system gives the profession system a similar feel to what we had pre-nge as far as character customization goes. The tech for this system is being developed for the next publish (this won't be visible to you guys). The publish after that, we're looking at pushing out the first two professions's worth of expertise trees, with two professions targeted for every publish after that. Generally speaking, we'll have three trees for each profession to choose from, including a GCW tree and a "path" tree that will hold things like "dark" and "light" side powers for Jedi, for instance (or droid specializtion, vs poisons for Bounty hunters - for instance).
That's the plan.
Sounds good.

I want to drop in and add my thoughts to this. I am a day one player. I followed the development of this game from when it was first announced. I have been a huge SW fan for as long as I can remember, and this was finally my chance to step into that world that George Lucas created for us. There were problems from the beggining, nothing that did not make this game still enjoyable to play. For a while I held as many as four active accounts. I am down to one account left. That account is my original account and is set to expire in the first week of april. It has been cancelled and I was just waiting for the time to run out. I continued to play daily until mid december.
I still log in several times a week. When I log in its because I want to play. I want those great experiences I had of large scale PVP battles between Anchorhead and Bestine. I want to get a group together and hunt a Jedi. I want to defend my imperial base with a group of squadmates in stormtrooper armor from the rebel attack. I want to get a group of pilots together and brave TIE fighters and take on a Corvette. I want the excitement of being in battle and seeing a Jedi appear with lightsaber out cutting a path through. Instead I have found a game that is now seemingly empty. I run through coronet and might find 1-3 people.
I have problems with so much time spent on the Entertainers, when there is virtually no high level content. I think crafters need some serious help, because there is no real incentive to buy anything from them. But most importantly I want a good reason to continue playing.....and nothing I have seen in the last couple of months have given me that. There doesnt appear to be a vision for the future. When we talk about the need for communication, we dont need a community relations person posting a smiling face, or denying rumors. Communication is meaningful dialog about where you are going with this. It is plans for the future. It is actually listening to advice that you solicit. This series of posts, however, is the best communication that I have seen in a long time. Share with us the long terms plans. Show us that you have some. Because of these posts, I will be continuing my account on a month to month basis, no more year long subscriptions. But most importantly...please remember, give us a reason to stay.

The SWG community has been voting with it's feet since the NGE came about. Either we end up being right about our ability to turn the ship around and make a game that's BETTER than it was before, or we were wrong and we fail. Either way we were losing subs before the NGE and believe it or not, we are losing them at a slower rate than before. I'm not going to pretend we didn't lose a bunch of subs from this. We did. And I don't think the game is where it needs to be yet to aquire new subs. But it's getting there with each and every publish.
At the end of the day there are a lot of people in this community that wonder why we did this? Why did we "deliberately" try and piss people off. Obviously that wasn't our intent. This is a business and we needed to improve the results of the business. Did we make a mistake? Maybe.. but only time is going to tell on that one. One thing is certain. We made a mistake with how we presented it to the community, and for that I'm sorry. I still think it was a needed thing though. It's not as simple as "you should have just fixed the things we were complaining about". That doesn't address the very real fact that what we had was a hardcore game that wasn't going to attract the mass audience that the Star Wars IP brings to the table.

John,
With SOE's newfound spirit of Glasnost, are you at liberty to share some of the subscriber statistics for the game? I'd be really interested to know what the active subscription level is on the different servers and perhaps what the average number of online players is at any given time. How about Rebel vs imperial players, different profession numbers, etc...
Any chance for some more astromech droid stats that give us a little more insight into the game?

I'm going to ask this for the 4th time now, hoping you'll shed some light on this. I'm a day 1 (beta 3) vet, so I'm hoping you'll answer this for the sake of a long time vet.
You mentioned the possibility of guilds having their own capital starships such as star destroyers. I'd like to know what is the status of capital ships given that there is now no expansion on the horizon. Will we be seeing them implemented as free content? What about combat vehicles such as AT-ATs (which I've yet to see in a combat role in 3 years)?
