Honestly what gives with all these 'lost of respect' and 'i'm gonna sue someone' posts?

Do you seriously think you'll make a difference? Why don't you get it out of your thick heads that the devs aren't out to swindle our money? I agree with an earlier poster when he said that those in charge will be up all night, because that's what they're doing. If you've really lost interest/respect for this game, stop posting and return it, you'll do everyone a lot of good.

appreciate the work put into this game thus far and have some patience for buddha's sake.

First of all, what fascinates me, DingoBoi, is that you were able to endure the problems and issues of the beta test, maintaining your composure of a considerate, understanding tester...

Then not even ONE DAY into the actual live game, and you blow up completely... do you realize how many people who were trying to log on to those servers all at once?? A lot moret than Beta, that's for sure... Give the poor servers a break, man... geez...

Second of all... can we drop it about this F'N art book? Good lord... They advertised a concept art book... what we got was a book with concept art in it... let it go!

Ohhhh, it's paperback, and not hard-cover? Whoa, man, you better take that straight to George Lucas, that is BLATANT false advertising... *snickers*

I suppose next you're gonna go after NBC cuz tonight's episode of 'Friends' was supposed to be funny...

You wanna know how my day went? I work at an EB store, so I showed up at work at around noon... I proudly purchased my SWG CE, and then set it in the back room. There it stayed, for 8 hours, as I had to help people who wanted to pick up Galaxies, tell people that they couldn't pick up Galaxies if they didn't have a pre-order, answer people's questions about how awesome Galaxies is... Galaxies, Galaxies, Galaxies...

Then of course, the whiny bitches calling US wanting to know what's going on with the servers... *sigh*

So I get home around 10, take about a half an hour to install Galaxies, and BAM! Servers are all down... I haven't even played the game yet (outside of beta), I may not get the name I want, I may not get on the server I want, but y'know what? I'm as happy as a clam...

I'm happy for the same reason that I bought the CE in the first place. It wasn't about the pewter figurine, it wasn't about the badge, and no, it wasn't about the art book *rolls eyes*...

It's because this is Star Wars, baby...

But yeah, I give 'em 2 weeks, after that, there's hell to pay...

I agree with Dingoboi on this... I was in Beta, and up until the last days I was still experiencing problems with login.  On average it took 3 attempts to get into Bria, my main server.  I wanted a good release for SWG, I did not want to see anything like what happened with Anarchy Online.  To me this is just as bad if not worse.  Many posters requested the devs not release SWG unless it was ready during the previous boards Discussion forum and during the approx 3 years it was up.

When it was announced that they were ending Beta, many testers indicated that it was not ready for release.  I do not blame the Devs' I BLAME the F&%(^(^^##^% suits that pushed them to release this game before it was ready !  May they rot in hell the bunch of D___heads !

I'm so sick of reading sore gamers whining in between the posts worth reading A lawyer....oh that was funny.  We in the IT community know all too too well what it's like for these guys behind the curtain. This dev team has my full support!

We'll all be sittin around a virtual campfire laughin about this in a couple months as we watch the suns set on tat.. Perhaps I'd be singin a different toon if I was crazy or foolish enought to take vacation time from work to play a  massive online universe on launch day!...lol For once I'm glad I'm laid off...

BTW...Anyone looking for a front-end web developer/designer in the NW? A job offer is about the only thing that can keep me awake any longzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz...

As someone who has played many MMORPGs in the past, including the original Ultima Online (back when it was good), I can see both sides of the fence, but I can also see which side's grass is greener.

There are some here who say "This is day 1, it was going to happen, it always does". I knew when I picked up my copy from the store that something was going to go wrong. I expected this, but that does not, by any means, make it acceptable.

As a beta tester, you've no right to gripe about problems, bugs, errors, downtime or login problems; only because you're not paying for the game. You've the unique experience to try a game before hundreds of thousands of others, for free, while putting up with some inconveniences. Good deal.

As a customer paying anywhere from fifty to eighty dollars you've every right to complain about poor service and/or false advertising. Just because it's happened in the past, does not make it 'O.K.' for it to happen again. This fiasco could have, and should have, been tested, and avoided, with a mock registration process. Instead we are now paying money to beta test for SOE, much the way early Ultima Online players did when it was first released.

While I am upset about this situation, as I said before, I expected it, and SOE has lost an opportunity to get a gold star in my book for a flawless MMO launch. I do understand that these things happen, and the devs are forced by higher forces to push the game onto the market before it's ready, so it can generate money. It's not their fault, unless they agreed with the money grubbers. But at the same time I will support anyone who complains about this horrible first day. The 'casual gamer' doesn't know how these things happen, as Dingo so eloquently stated, and doesn't care to know. They simply know they paid a lot of money for a game that the advertisers claimed was so incredibly great and now they're stuck sitting infront of a glowing box that continues to tell them that Sony is very sorry but SWG can't come out to play right now because you broke something that should have been tested before the release, and wasn't. Therefore, Sony now owes you several hours of your life that you spend in a futile effort to get on an SWG server.

Anyone who thinks Dingo is wrong has clearly never heard the term "The customer is always right", especially when the customer is paying for the product. I hope he receives some form of compensation, however unlikely, for these problems. I personally will wait, while making my thoughts known (as long as these forums are accessable) and observe as the devs, techs and database analysts (I can relate, I'm all of the above) attempt to stabilize a SNAFU caused by a few greedy individuals.

In closing (SUMMARY), Dingo: I hear ya, I agree, and while I can understand how it can happen, you've still every right to say what you said, and every bit of it is true.

I agree with everything DingoBoi has said in this thread. We are now paying customers and we simply want to play the game.

Andraxson is right the EULA states there are no guarentees about us being able to play. There will be downtime. Today wasn't downtime it was no time. The game was down more than it was up. So what the point of a MMO if yu can't get online and play it?

I don't get why not being able to play the game for one day makes a difference in the long run.  You'll still have your copy of the game when the servers come back up.  You arn't losing any of your free trial period.  I really think a lot of these people are complaining about this just so they have something to complain about.  Theres a chance you won't get your name but that isn't very likely unless its a very common name everyone wants.  I don't think this is worth complaining about especially since you arn't losing anything other then a day of play time.

DingBoi, this is just Day One so I would cut them some more slack. It takes some time to get adjusted to the number of people logging in at once. I'm a casual gamer myself but I don't think that the devs are trying to screw us over.

OMG thank you. Now all these people saying give em a few weeks then hell will be deserved will finally understand whats truly wrong about this.

For some people this is their first MMORPG they've never had these types of problems before. It is a fact though as it has been stated a few times now that a product being sold is meant to work. Now some games have problems with peoples systems, but work for the most part. This though was not even close to that good. This launch allowed people to play or at least I got to play through the tutorial (rushing it) and then just walk outside Tattoine. This is not acceptable. Its like an animal if you let it get away with getting into the garbage with a little tap then it won't learn anything. By allowing the MMORPG creators to get away with this "Oh give em a few weeks to fix it" is almost the same. They'll keep doing it as long as people say Oh well theres sure to be bugs.

Isn't there a way to do stress tests on servers???
Can't they calculate the bandwith usage to an estimate with all the copies sent out?
They sent out say 100,000 copies shouldn't they be prepared to accept all those people on their servers.
I spend 2:30hrs of clicking back and subscribe before going to the gym then after that hoping some things were fixed I tryed for another hour then played some WC3 then when I tried again I manage to get subscribe Boy was I exicited. I then only faced small problem with  the servers being down. Once that was done I made my character no problem went thru tutorial got disconnected logged back on found out that server was dead then tryed diff one without tutorial then that server crashed.

If you think this post is immature then fine. I think its immature to sell a product that doesn't work.
I don't plan on nagging on the devs or anything Im sure they're working to their hearts content.

Good Night hopefully we can play tommorow. Start praying people if your religious :-).

Should we really be so adamant about supporting poor MMO starts? Granted it was expected, but should it be allowed? By acknowledging poor releases as almost second nature to any release of any MMO, aren't we simply giving positive reinforcement to the industry for a negative situation? If we pat Sony, the maker of other past MMOs, on the back and say "It's OK", doesn't that simply tell them just that? It's ok? By doing so we're basically spelling out to SOE that we expect to be disappointed, and it's ok to do so in the future as well, thus resulting in those money grubbing investors being even more likely to push games onto the market before they're ready.

No one likes to hear complaints, but lets face it: Unless someone complains, stuff doesn't get changed. For those truly upset by the complaint, just be glad you're not currently working for SOE. It could be worse.

Maybe with enough complaints, we'll have a day when MMOs are released as intended: Playable out of the box the first day, and no one will expect major problems the first day.

Right on DingoBio I'm with you on this one, all the fanboys and girls want to do is praise a poc game instead of realize what an utter disappointment it is to the majority of customers out here who bought this game thinking it would work out of the box. They want to justify everything on past performances of other MMORPG's, that is no excuse, knowing how others came out, they should have known full well that if this game was released too early without futher testing from previous MMORPG's experiences it was going to flop, instead they want to use them as an excuse or scapegoat.

Boycott the game I say, and post on every website you find that allows a post of this release, plop that ONE down or a ZERO if you can for your review. When the bucks stop flowing the game stops growing and this poc game can go by the wayside for all I care now.
