Face it ... you guys were no where NEAR ready and you rushed to launch. Tossing a bunch of money at the problem isn't the solution. (Eventhough now it is OUR money you're tossing around.) I can only expect a multitude of issues in the coming days and weeks until you guys get your acts together.
We cut you slack in Beta. We hoped things weren't as bad as they seemed. We just KNEW that the Star Wars quality product would shine through. It didn't. You have some great ideas . . . you have some decent artwork . . . you have abysmal execution. In other words . . . you guys have some serious issues you need to resolve.
What I still can't quite figure out is this: If you work for the same company as EverQuest, how can you be failing at the very things they are doing well now? Yeah, its a different game. Yeah ... there are different rules to how things work. But you're having issues just keeping servers up. You had those issues during Beta . . . there is really no excuse for it now.
People will continue to play SWG . . . because after all, its STAR WARS . . . but for a lot of us you've put a really bad taste in our mouths and you've tainted what should be a great day. Even LucusArts is ashamed and apologizing for you guys . . . and they didn't even have anything to do with the issues you're having.
I really want to have faith in your team. I really want you to succeed. But you keep showing us over and over that this is project is just way over your heads. Are we really expected to continue to pay for the next couple of months while you work through your "Second Beta"? Because that's what you're telling us we're in. Even 3QP0 said that he expected more things to break as the day went on. That's the same as telling us you weren't ready and you rushed this out.
Many of us are disappointed . . . even your fan-boyz - if they're honest - will admit to disappointment. Heck, by the way you're talking, even YOU are disappointed. I feel sorry for you in a way. I know you're probably catching hell and sideways looks from the bosses. I imagine the phone has rung off the hook most of the day. (And that says nothing of the fact that the Support Center's phone circuits were overloaded and finally put on permanate busy signal by 7 p.m. this evening.) I guess the only real question left is . . . what are you going to do to fix this disaster?
Now if I can just get on for a few minutes to play the tutorial......That's all I want....Just a taste before I have to work tommorrow.....

Quexal, as I understand it, it's because Mozilla is more tolerant when it comes to timing out. Basically, the hardware responding really really slowly. The longer your browser waited to time out, the more likely you were to get through.

I work in a HOSPITAL... you know, a place where peoples LIVES are on the line? And the apps we get break constantly... even after the multi-billion dollar corporate developers spend millions on QA. So don't think that you're going to see a GAME launch flawlessly. Something always gives somewhere... either in complexity, content, or overall stability.
First of all a big hello to the devs. Especially Q and Holo. Been reading your weekly posts for at least 8 months now if not more. Nice to meet you all. Here's my non technical question. Will you come online as yourselves(not roleplaying chars) to say hello and greet people at all now that beta is over(which I wasn't in by the way)?
Well enough of this arse kissing, I'm gonna tell it like it is.
From my experience in supporting a couple thousand users, I can honestly say, all of you at SWG are brave souls! You have risen to the challenges, and over come the pitfalls, and the only thing seperating you all from triumph is time.
I have read a lot of posts today, and even been tempted to add a few, but in the end I knew your goal is the same as mine and patience is a virtue. Inspite of enourmous amout of criticism of a product that you all have invested much more blood, sweat, tears, and caffeine in than my meager $75.00 could ever hope to buy anywhere else, yet you forged ahead, and for that I applaud you.
I was able to get into the game for about an hour maybe two, and I can say from what I've seen so far, SWG has moved the bar up several notches for all other MMO's.
I'm sure Oracle will get you guys straightened out quickly, heck half their staff is probably trying to log into the game right now
Keep up the good work!
P.S. I see the boards are powered by lithium, do you supose the same will be true for the dev team by the end of the weekend?
I think you should suggest to Oracle that they should pay for a month of gaming for all the frustrated fans.

I have an update on the status of the forum speed.
We're going to see if we can disable all the images on the forum for a bit in order to speed up load times in general.
We're also throwing twice the hardware at the forum authentication in an effort to get the load better distributed.
Some of the earlier problems were related to the subscription servers throwing errors, which then confused the forum backend (since it verifies that you're subscribed).
Between the image reduction, the additional hardware, and the fixes to the sub servers, that's probably all we cna do right now to improve performance. Of course, the servers are probably under heavier load than usual given that everyone's here looking to see what's up...

alright, so when can we expect that things will be stable enough that our only worries will be the odd disconnection ever hour or so? what's the prospectus for later tonight/early tomorrow morning? will, say, 3am PST be relatively painess, as a good percentage of people will be not trying to connect, or does the DEV team just say bollocks to the whole thing at some point in the early morning and just give up until tomorrow?
