I have sooo been in this position myself. I work as a unix sys amin, and when these types of issues happen I wish I had taken the week off. I don't envy your sys admins at this point......
Thanks for the post. The most frustrating part about today is the lack of any real information about the issues. For most of the day the offical announcements downplayed the issue instead of admitting the scope of it. That is maddening because we have no way of knowing what we should be doing (start over, refresh the page, take a nap -- I did all three . Honest open communication like this message is MUCH better.
So after more than 8 hours to register our accounts we have now been sitting at the "creating your character...please wait" for more than an hour. We have no idea if we should give up..or let it continue. I can only assume that this is related to the Oracle issue, but that doesn't tell me if letting the screen sit there waiting is helping, hurting , or making no difference in the situation.
CmdrLaForge, from what I understand, the Lithium guys have been working to improve the forums all day. Right now, there's something that they are doing that is supposed to speed it up more, but while they do the work, it makes the forums a bit more sluggish. I'll see what more I can find out.

I can't stress enough how impressed I am that you are here giving us all this information. Just a perfect example of why I sang your praises to all my gaming buddies during beta and will continue to do so. Your commitment is outstanding. Here's to hoping things are resolved yet tonight.
I just want to say that compared to the AO launch this is not bad at all, even though i have not even gotten in the game to play yet. I have a lot of respect for the devs and greatly appreciate how they keep us informed. It seems like with AO we rarely hear from the devs, even now. However, i did have to go to work about 6 hours after my first attempts to login so i did get a break from the chaos =P. Still can't wait to play.
Well just like everyone else I spent basically all afternoon trying to subscribe. I know the entire team was scrambling and the boards were slow, but it took way to long for a message to go up on the front site informing people of the problems. It would have saved some agonizing refreshes on the forums and probably help to keep the load down.
At any rate i'm glad you think you've got the registration problem solved and if you can keep us updated on the server issues a bit faster than we were updated on the registration problems, I think most will be forgiven.
Of course my Trandoshian doesn't have his shades either ;op
Holo think of it as you're being hazed by the MMORPG gods. It's something that must be done in order to have a sucessful MMORPG. Just hold on tight, click your teeth and clench your butt. It'll be over soon.
While this doesnt excuse the problems, I must say the 5-10 minutes I had doing the first 2 tutorial stations were quite exciting. Too bad that was my only game experience today.
I do appreciate that you are postin here and that the devs are participating in the launchpad chat (although that has had problems booting users too, especially after a pm or message)
I do think more time to get this game ready should have been taken. But I will be here trying anways. :-)
First of all I'd like to say a big hello out there too all the devs mainly Q and Holo which I've read the weekly posts on for the last 8 months, thx for the game all. Next question will you guys ever come on and say hello in game as yourselves?
