How does respec work?

When an existing player logs in they will get a Profession selection window.  They MUST select a new profession.

  • If you choose Trader or Entertainer then they will get all the skills of each profession (i.e. maxed).
  • If you choose any of the combat professions you will be advanced to the exact same COMBAT LEVEL that you were before the NGE went live.

A "Character Respec Device" will be created in every character’s inventory with 10 “charges.”  Examining it will show the combat level the respec item will be set to when you use it. This is the level they will be set to when they use the respec device if they select one of the 7 combat professions.  After using the device 10 times it will delete itself and no longer be usable.

so basically if your a crafter/entertainer NOW  you can either be a full crafter/entertainer  OR a LVL 1 combat proff

or

If your currently a LvL 80 Proff now  you can be anything you desire? or will you need to grind out non combat ?
 Confused beacuse the line
If you choose trader or entertainer then  they will get all the skills of each proffesion

ok too late at ngiht for me to figure this out, Tiggs, if you may, or if you have the time, could you please set out an example of both a combat lvl 80 toon and a lvl 1 entertainer/crafter toon as they go into NGE? What exactly the combat  lvl 80 toon can and cant respec to ( i know they can go lvl 80 combat proff but what about non combat? full non combat?)

anyway  off to sleep in a few

Tiggs should we be getting all the skills if we log in with a cl1 toon that has never done anything on the server?

I created a toon one day when Ahazi was down and never touched him. I logged on TC-Prime to play this toon and die the character selection and I got everything as if I mastered the profession. Even got the master badges. XP meter says I have 0xp and my next skill is at 65000xp but the red meter is maxed. Ill edit with a sreenie in a sec.

Edit--

Clickie

Edit#2 - WOOHOO Clickie on my first try. <

Edit#3 - Where are our Lots listed now. They are no longer showing in the Character screen.

Edit #4 - When using the new respec tool I am a Trader now. I use the tool and I only get 3 professions to choose from. Jedi, Bounty Hunter, and Smuggler. The rest of the professions are gone. Also there is no way to cancle your respec.

Can someone test a Master Dancer or some type of entertainer, preferably CL1 -> Combat class?  Do they get screwed from completed template to CL1 as described by Tiggs?

Anyone that respeced in as a Trader, did you get the special Traders items? ie. the Trader Bracelet, Backpack, or Belt?

I did not, which is why I am asking, I know that those that have grinded up get them, just hopping that respec chars do too.

Tiggs, how many times are you going to delete this thread?

Again....

Why is it that Combat characters are allowed to max out the Trader certs yet you are not allowing we Crafters to switch to a Combat profession?

Obviously you know the reason is that a Combat types will generally not switch to this new Trader system of yours yet a great many Crafters want out of this new system and those that remain will enter teh Combat arena as that is the new system you want us in.

I personnaly find it disgusting that you are saying that the time I spent making a Master Artisan, Master Architect, Master Droid Engineer and some Merchant for vendors is not worth as much a player who made a Master Rifleman.

Please tell the Devs to rethink this:

  • If you choose Trader or Entertainer then they will get all the skills of each profession (i.e. maxed).
  • If you choose any of the combat professions you will be advanced to the exact same COMBAT LEVEL that you were before the NGE went live.

I don't react well to those who spit in my face.

Tiggs, I know you tried to address this in the FAQ you posted, however, it is still ambiguous as to how a full template crafter will convert when respecing to a combat profession.

The question is very simple. Will a level 1 character that has full skill points allocated to three master crafting professions convert to a level 80 combat character?

The answer should be even simpler. It has to be YES or NO. If the answer is NO, then if a player converts on a second respec from a combat character, level 80, to a Trader (presumably level 1?), if they repsec back to a combat character are they also screwed out of being able to get back to level 80?

Please answer this completely and unambiguosly. I believe those of us with level 1 crafters deserve to know how this is going to work without any shades of grey.

Thanks!

As a CL80 today will I have the possibility to start as a level one after the conversion?
