What were your feelings regarding NGE when it was first announced?
Surprised Thought I was going to hate it, it would make the game I'd played for 2 years unrecognisable, it would totally devalue all the work I'd put in over those 2 years on my characters etc. I got into test last night and I feel I have so far been proved wrong - it is very different, but after finally going to bed when the servers were taken down last night, I then woke up this morning itching to get back into Test and have another go (something I haven't really felt about the live game for a while). I still have a lot to try, and a lot of scope for making my mind up once and for all on it (as I have tried such a relatively small part of the experience so far, and haven't tried it in relation to my current characters), but so far I have gone from out-and-out dislike to hope, which is probably the best compliment you will get from me
What were your feelings when you immeadiately entered the game?
More Star Warsy - both the pre-game movie, and the tutorial. I think that new players will especially like that initial immersion in the feel of being in the films, because - let's face it - that will be why they bought the game in the first place (unless they're like me and had never seen a Star Wars film all the way through, and got the game because their partner bought it for their birthday )
What were your feelings after you played for a hour?
Was sad to have to logout at server reset. Felt like there was more content that I could have explored, given the time. Was excited at the thought of getting back to it this morning. After an hour's play I think there are some things which could be improved (with the UI for instance), but all-in-all it was certainly playable, and an enjoyable experience, even solo as I was (I hate to play solo - ask my guild! - so this is something you would never normally hear me say!). My guild are planning on creating new characters on a different server when it goes live, just to check out the new player/low level content, which I think is a positive response.
What class did you choose to play?
Jedi (Force Sensitive? Whatever!), since this is the class I will be making my primary character on live.
What do you like the most about NGE?
How it is contextualised with the films from the start - little things like the opening movie, the movie pics on the profession screen (though seeing Luke Skywalker every time I check my progress is a little scary - can we girls have Ewan McGregor instead? ), the interaction with Han and Chewie etc. Also how it seems to be equalising players, thus minimising this "l33t" culture that the game has slipped into.
What do you dislike about NGE?
My hand-eye co-ordination is appalling, so I am finding it tricky getting my head around moving, targetting and shooting with my mouse all at once. If we could bind attack to a hotkey on the keyboard, I would be much happier

* What were your feelings regarding NGE when it was first announced?
shocked, 2 years of work are worthless. the CU hit my AS very hard and i feel like i am going thru the same again.
* What were your feelings when you immeadiately entered the game?
feeling is good, didnt get to se much after i finished the turt i CTD. wht i saw was fun though.
* What were your feelings after you played for a hour?
was excited and wantd to have more.
* What class did you choose to play?
jedi, cuz i am jedi on live but want to test out other profs aswell.
* What do you like the most about NGE?
the SW feeling is better that in live, but i dont know how it will feel on a long term.
* What do you dislike about NGE?
the UI, need to get used to it. movement, i hope you add more keymaps like on live server. skills, very poor, we need more detailed skills. professions, 9 profs are not enough, the game lived from 32 profs.

What were your feelings regarding NGE when it was first announced?
Suspicious, worried and downright insulted.
What were your feelings when you immeadiately entered the game?
We've beena sking for more proper Star Wars content for two years now, and here it is crammed into a tutorial.
What were your feelings after you played for a hour?
After an hour: "actually entering the falcon would be lovely".
After an hour of actual gameplay: Combat seems more fun, character progression is not.
What class did you choose to play?
Officer.
What do you like the most about NGE?
Combat is not a sleeping-pill as the CU combat were.
What do you dislike about NGE?
Plenty:
Character progression isn't very fun, there doesn't seem to be anything unique over each and every character of the same class. The "templates" was one of the redeeming qualities of pre-NGE SWG.
The professions are actually rather dull.
The animations are horrible. Remove snappy movement, and for the love of all that is lovable: Reinstate the walking animation.
And an important one: Jedi will be even more common after the NGE, and this is not a good thing in a Star Wars game.
What were your feelings regarding NGE when it was first announced?
- Surprised and absolutly excited!, after i read into the details i thought this will safe swg and get thousands of new peopel in (which is great, i would love to see countless of new faces!)
What were your feelings when you immeadiately entered the game?
- I was excited and thought wow, this is a complete new game feeling, the screen was alot more organized then before, actually you look at your toon instead of all the informations given. Would love to see an option to put a healthbar on the toons at the screen to make it even more intuitive.
What were your feelings after you played for a hour?
- Well, unfortunatly i got stuck at the falcon, but generally i think its an intensive star wars feeling coming up, the game quality in general went up some big steps, everything (beside the profession pie pics maybe) looks more smooth, intuitive and organized. The new ui layout with small graphics is some quality improvement which makes swg looks more professional at all.
What class did you choose to play?
- Jedi, ofc, since i got 2 of them on live server, on one account (yeah i must be crazy)
What do you like the most about NGE?
- Most important aspect for me is player vs player as endgame. When every quest is solved, every dialog spoken and every corner seen, its time to waste those imps, be it player or npc . The old system had some serious flaws, in terms of balance, fairness, exploits and what else. The 'simplification' of the game allows a better recognation of game flaws and a hopefully faster intervenation of the devs if some kind of flaws survace. Also im not 100% behind this new combat system, i think its an advantage compared to the old ones. (-> small persons will be harder to hit, melee in general will have it difficult -> lag issues and clipping etc etc)
What do you dislike about NGE?
- Well 9 profession archetypes are fine to me, what i would like to see is separation of the classes through different perks (like in World of Warcraft for example), so a jedi could choose perks from Light Side force powers, Dark Side or a mixture of them. Those perks shouldnt define the jedi like the templates on live, since every jedi should have standart force powers, they should give minor advantages in offense, defense or offense/defense even, so you can define if you are more a defensive player (light side), offense or between. Well, thats just an idea, i like the concept at most, nothing i really dislike yet.
What were your feelings regarding NGE when it was first announced?
Shocked and excited but thought the timing wasnt very good to be honest especialy since alot of people who bought the expansion for certain items are going to be made redundant
What were your feelings when you immeadiately entered the game?
Much better Star wars feel and right into the action seeing familiar faces and killing a few stormies whcih was cool kinda felt like i was being rescued/escape from the Deathstar or something
What were your feelings after you played for a hour?
I got stuck at the ramp and unable to get back on so i spent my time looking through the interface and character menus
What class did you choose to play?
One force sensitive and a smuggler, just like i am on live
What do you like the most about NGE?
The comabt is more fluid and intuitive aswell as feeling and looking more star wars
What do you dislike about NGE?
I love being diferent with my characters from what ive seen you will end up being one of 9 possible people and the unique feel i have with my smuggler will be lost as he ends up like everybody else.
The old skill system allowed for diversity of template which added to the personality of the character which is somewhat lost in the new system and the problem with this is once i hit cl90 i will have no attachment to my characters personality and have nothing left to do.
We need to have a way to personalise our characters above all else so we can have a living, breathing and organic character rather than a clone of another smuggler or whatever.
This is the only thing i dislike and to me this a is a biggie it wont make me leave because i enjoy what ive seen but it will limit the length of time i stay with the game.
What were your feelings regarding NGE when it was first announced?
Shock --> Disbelief --> Realisation of what was happening and why it was happening --> Curiosity to see how it all panned out.
What were your feelings when you immediately entered the game?
Same as when I first started playing - great to be in the SW universe. Some concerns but they're covered below.
What were your feelings after you played for a hour?
Partly impressed with some of the improved features, mostly disappointed with where the game seemed to be heading.
What class did you choose to play?
Smuggler, been wanting to play this class since launch but obviously there's never been any reason to
What do you like the most about NGE?
- More thought gone into the quests which has made them more interesting and immersive; - Liked what seems to be an increased number of dungeons that can be accessed both on the ground and in space.
What do you dislike about NGE?
- Movement is far too fast and very jerky, made me feel nauseous from motion sickness after a while (get this in quite a few FPS games, strangely always worse in Lucasarts ones!); - Graphics seemed downgraded, animations were poor and jerky. Couldn't put my finger on exactly what was different but moving in and around Mos Eisley reminded me of playing a PSOne (or early PS2) game. Loading the current game back up I noticed a vast difference in smoothness of play; - New UI looks awful, low detailed and garish colour schemes. Also a lack of control on what could be moved; - Too much mouse clicking in combat, I don't click this much in an FPS even! - New use of specials a massive step backwards. Now instead of just pushing one of the F buttons I have to press a number key to select which special I want and then the right mouse button to activate. Sadly all to obvious why this has changed - this is not a good PC control method; - Having overhead map activated caused all functionality except movement to be disabled which is useless for combat; - Hitbox seemed to be bigger than the characters themselves meaning that if an NPC moved slightly in front of the one I was engaged in combat with I could no longer hit them, even though they are visable; - Similar to the previous comment, after killing an NPC and moving on to the next a lot of times the loot window would popup due to the oversized hitbox; - Lack of professions and choice of skills has removed one of the best parts of the original game; - New chat window is too much like that which was used in space which has always been annoying to use;
- 95% of the people I saw running around were Jedi, though I guess this was to be expected at least at first (and not the fault of the devs). Pyjama Wars?
In summary, if I had to base my choice on these few hours of play I'd have to say this is not the kind of game I'd be willing to spend £10 a month on. However, I realise I've only scratched the surface and with 2 years already invested in the game I'm willing to give it a chance when it goes live to see how it develops beyond the initial stages. I'm also very keen to see what has been done to bring the GCW more to the forefront as this is something that attracted me to the game in the first place and which has been sadly missing from the game.
Personally I would like to have seen the new quest based leveling system and new dungeons implemented into the current system. As it stands I'm finding it hard to figure out exactly who the game is now aimed at as it appears to lack the depth and complexity for the current veteran players yet I can't see those who've just payed X amount for the latest top of the range console wanting to play a game that looks two generations old.

What were your feelings regarding NGE when it was first announced?
- Well I had quit SWG for WoW - I reactivated when I heard there was major changes, I'd say "hopeful"
What were your feelings when you immeadiately entered the game? - my first thing to do for any game is mess with the settings. My thoughts were: - What are these photos doing here? they look terrible - Why won't that droid shut up long enough for me to fix my mouse? - GIVE ME A MINUTE TO ADJUST
What were your feelings after you played for a hour? - This is kinda fun ( I have put firmly in my mind that the movement/camera controls will be mappable soon. With that behind me, the gameplay will be enjoyable) - overall, its an improvement. but we have some stuff to fix up - niggly stuff that all adds up to enjoyment breaking. - at one point, I realized.. I am running away from vader with han, the falcon's hyperdrive is broke, and boba fett is here - sorry, but when it dawned on me what was going on, hans voiceover became - well insulting. feels like you are forcing me into a movie, trying to make me feel "cool" and that just isn't what im playing for. I left at that point and went right to tat.
What class did you choose to play? - jedi (big suprise.) but heres why: I enjoy playing melee/healer roles. my main templates on live were tkm/doc fencer/doc. ( I left for CU1 ) when you make a new char, its pretty obvious that jedi are the tanks. I want to get in baddies face and soak damage. so im a jedi - but im not wearing the robe. not sure if i will. Or use a saber.
What do you like the most about NGE? - That HAM Bars move before you can go get a cup of coffee - It is faster paced. I am holding final judgement on this until I get some pvp in, however. - Overall, so far, not bad, could be good. see my note below
What do you dislike about NGE? In Order (worst First) - Photos - out of place and outdated. I feel like im looking into the lunch box I had in grade 2. I want to see my character on those screens - Requiring two hands to play at all times. WASD is fine, but it isn't my style. I have to be able to move with the mouse. If we can't remap, I can't play - Along the same lines - If I have to push "4" to make special 1 my click attack, why can't the skill fire when i push 4? why is that extra step there? - more UI - most of the ui changes are combat related, so i went to do other stuff. The "Hover to select and click to use default action" is very difficult to do things like decorate your house, use the bank, etc. It just feels awkward, and im always "losing" what I am trying to interact with. note i am talkign about *things* - not combat - the white HUD textures - they look AWFUL - Its hard to follow quest strings. when i ran out of a string (about level 8 quest), the next one I found started with a level 1 quest again. I tried going to naboo and corellia, (I am not a tat fan) but found nothing. - When you melee a melee mob, they stand on top of you and you have to rotate the view to top-down - so you don't see his 6 buddies come to help until you are incapped - There isn't any money sinks I could see. We are all going to be billionares soon. Nice thought, horrible gameplay - Death penalty? Is there one? I have been using the cloners as cheap public transportation. - The speed needs to be kept the same, but the animation slowed down. It just doesn't look right
My dislikes is a larger list, because I have about 9 hours played into it now, and i have been making notes on problems/irritants. I think it is going in a very good direction, if you ignore the social aspect (attachement to lost classes, jedi's feeling toward being downgraded)
I already quit once, I came here looking at this as a new game. I am almost back

Lord_Pall: I'd like to think of our professions, not as "balanced" from the DPS or numerical standpoint, but from the enjoyability stanpoint.
Since our team has been working very hard and long hours on NGE I would like to do something special for them. Can you please post CONSTRUCTIVELY what your likes and dislikes are regarding NGE.
Trolls please don't ruin this thread there are countless other threads for you to go do your dirty work in.
What were your feelings regarding NGE when it was first announced?
Not very optimistic. This was announced a day after most people had brought the latest expansion. So I'm pretty sure SOE/LA realised that this was not going to go down well.
What were your feelings when you immeadiately entered the game?
Hmmm.... OK so maybe it's not going to be that bad.
What were your feelings after you played for a hour?
Sorry but it is awful. The ui is rubbish. As is the new combat system. Ok so the previous systems had their faults. But sorry this is not a step forward. If I wanted to play a Star Wars FPS I would have brought one.
What class did you choose to play?
Spy. Seemed a fun choise. But then with so many classes cut down. There is not going to be as much variety of play and sorry that is a bad thing.
What do you like the most about NGE?
First 10 minutes of the tutorial was fun.
What do you dislike about NGE?
Sorry but disliked mostly everything. If this goes live as it is I'm out of here.
Thanks folks!
Sorry if my post annoys anyone but these are my opinions on the NGE as it is. Please don't abuse my point of view. If anyone has anything contructive to post do so. I'd be happy to listen. And god I hope they don't do this as I loved playing this game. Almost 2 years of real enjoyment on Scylla playing despite the bugs and nerfs. But for me this is a terrible idea for an update.
Yrab Knablaw - Jedi, Alliance ace Vortex pilot. Golim Knablaw - BH T'pau - Trader? Vendor at Aiwha mall. New Republic Navy, Aiwha, Naboo. NGE = real bad planning
I just thought of something-if theres not going to be any BE's or CH's where are we going to get creature mounts? Some areas force us to use them but now noboby will be able to tame or train them.
Yes, I know there's a spell checker. No, I don't care. I am enlightend. Laminated Truck Elder Smuggler Elder Commando Elder Pistoleer Bringing the heat since December 2005
What were your feelings regarding NGE when it was first announced? Shock , the game I played was changing. As I read more about became more excited
What were your feelings when you immeadiately entered the game? I like what I saw with the tutorial. I like the new combat, I have a couple concerns..
What were your feelings after you played for a hour? .I do think combat is more Star Wary, I find it like KOTOR , which is one of my favorite game. The concern I have is about PvP with the new system.
What class did you choose to play? Jedi, Officer
What do you like the most about NGE?I The speed of action and combat
What do you dislike about NGE?
1. Biggest issue was when moving it seems like the laser bolt would follow me.
2. I like to be able to use the terrian to my advantage , just like planetside!

What were your feelings regarding NGE when it was first announced?
basically......*SIGH* here we go again
What were your feelings when you immeadiately entered the game?
OMG NO what have you done!
What were your feelings after you played for a hour?
OMG NO what have you done! (with added depression)
What class did you choose to play?
The one 90% of your server population will choose the smug, pie chart, luke skywalker ridden Jedi porfession
What do you like the most about NGE?
honestly......Nothing
What do you dislike about NGE?
honestly......Everything, you have sold us out to a console market that gets to play our game for a few months before they move onto the next best thing, while us long standing veterans who have made SWG what it is get thrown in the bin in the interest of making a quick buck, nice job Sony the final nerf is here. So what do I dislike about the NGE? the fact that SOE have anything to do with it
What were your feelings regarding NGE when it was first announced?
I feelt like SOE tricked me by selling ToOW first day and next day open a publish. I was really mad .
What were your feelings when you immeadiately entered the game?
My first feeling was "nice graphic"..
What were your feelings after you played for a hour?
It was hard to gain a level took too long time. But it was fun. I was kind a happy.
What class did you choose to play?
I choosed to play jedi. Wanted to try medic aswell but couldn't get on again
What do you like the most about NGE?
graphic...dunno what I really like with it....wasn't too bad. But i would still like pre-cu more.
What do you dislike about NGE?
I dislike that jedi is a starter profession and Bounty Hunter's can't hunt players. Also I think the CHAT in game was real crappy made. You have to click in the feild if you want to say something all time. Annoying as hell. Also very important Tiggs. The special attack thing, the developers really need to fix that up. It didn't work too well. First you attack regulair then you have to almost "stop" attack and then click right bottom. I would like it if all you have to do is to click right mouse bottomto shot the next shot.
All i had to say tiggs

What were your feelings regarding NGE when it was first announced? Well, i cant say it wasnt unexpected. After that whole "uncle" post a few weeks back, me and some guildies were talkin about it and figured it just might happen. I dont really have a problem with it personally, though i will say i can understand why some people feel it was really rotten of you guys to announce this a day after Trial of Obi-Wan was released.
What were your feelings when you immeadiately entered the game? I was relieved for one. That i was finally able to get on after waiting all day friday. I believe i was one of the first people on. The interface was easy to understand but i found myself disappointed with it. Not able to adjust it for size. And no radar, but that has been fixed now. and it was quite laggy but i suppose that is to be expected with 200 instances of the exact same thing running all at once.
What were your feelings after you played for a hour? Alas, the dreaded ramp bug claimed another victem that night. However, i was able to play for a few hours again later that night, and about 10 hours today (Saturday) I liked it. The quest journal is a direct rip-off of EQ2, but thats fine, the EQ2 quest journal was one of the main things i liked about it. Interesting combat system, easy to get used to, though i see were lag could be a major killer in this department. I was a little disappointed that the [Group] missions could be soloed and when i went to turn in the missions for my rewards, they wouldnt talk to me. And the terminal to launch into space is bugged all to hell 95% of the time, so the pilot quests are hard to test out. All in all, I loved it.
What class did you choose to play? I have a level 9 Officer on TCPrime (cant wait to test those Orbital Strikes ) and a lvl 5 Commando on TC2
What do you like the most about NGE? Voice overs seem to be a theme on this thread and i can see why. Great job on there. and getting someone that actually sounds like Harrison Ford was nice, though Threepio could use some work. I would love to see this implemented on most NPCs. Though with EQ2, 6 of the 10 CDs were all voice-overs...... so maybe if you can compress the data . The new player area is sweet. Ive been wanting Ord Mantell as a new planet for a long time, just hope in the future you guys can add in a ground element to it. Also, is there any chance that we can take our Live characters through that when it hits live? I would love to do that......
What do you dislike about NGE? (AND SOME GENERAL SUGGESTIONS!) Lots of non-bypassable bugs, currently anyway. Though in the past, patches and expansions have been pushed out after extensive betas with bugs like this that were frequently reported, so i have some doubts that this 11 day test period will work as you are planning it to. Interface should be more customizable. I agree with what one of the posters said, we should be able to fire at anything, not just at a MOB. Like in JTL, and if we cant damage it then just make a noise or somthing. Though im sure this would cause problems, but it would be nice. One of, if not my biggest concern, is the fact that we no longer are able to change professions once our respecs are used. Julio himself once stated that one of the reasons SWG was so great was because of this, that we wernt all locked into one proffesion for are characters lives. We should be able to change whenever we want, though it would seem odd for a person to go from Jedi to Bounty Hunter to Trader to Commando and back to Jedi again. I suggest allowing 2 characters per server for all accounts, not just pre-NGE jedi. This is the way it is in most MMOs that follow this proffesion set. If a player decides he wants to make a character a jedi, then that character can be jedi, or Force Sensitive rather. Then he is free to do whatever he wants with the other, able to change proffesions at a whim, even to jedi if he wants, but then he is stuck with 2 jedi.
(Wow this is getting long) Also i believe that we should get certs for all types of armor, not just class specific. It makes us clones, because we all where the same thing. And saying that "Oh but you have 4 types of armor in this armor class" doesnt help any, because the majority of armor-wearers that i see only wear 1 or 2 types max. Granted, Tempest is a small server but still. Maybe adding in a high-end quest to allow us to change to a different proffesion or to allow us to wear another class of armor would be a good idea. If it isnt already implemented, seeing as how none of us non-red names has a clue about the high-end content .
Targeting is also an issue that you should look at. With this new system that requires you to constantly have your cursor on your target, we cant just select a target and attack. If something were to get in-between you and your target (lets say a high level MOB you dont want agroed on you) then you either have to stop firing but still get hit, kill whatever came infront of you having that and your original target on you at once, or try to go around it, which is quite annoying. More interactive yes, but no matter how interactive it is, annoying is still annoying.
Can you tell i have alot of time on my hands.
Final thought, is this looks sweet. You guys can go really far with this, as long as you make sure not to let this come out with the sort of bugs it has now, and certainly look at these issues. Which i know you are, but one can never stress that enough.
Edit: Yes i do have an extreme amount of time on my hands apparently.
Another thing people seem to have a problem with is the profession icons. I know alot of my Imperial Jedi guildies have been complaining that every time from now on that they open thier profession screen, they gotta stare at good ol' luke skywalker, Hero of the Rebellion. Infact the only icon that Isnt rebel oriented is Commander Cody, Oola and Boba Fett, 2 of which are more neutral then anything else and the other is Old Republic. Maybe an option to change the icon? Say, Luke or Darth? Leia or ....Tarkin maybe for officer?
And unless i remember anything else out, im not sure if this is a bug or not, but in Ord Mantell space, I seem to be immune to damage from the civilian Lambda shuttles, even if they are hitting me dead on.
Edit #2: Yes! I did remember. Rifles fire to slow. In my opinion anyway. I mean i know they do more damage, but it seems that now, even holding down the left mouse button fires slower then an autoattack by a marksmen. Thier range should also be increased IMHO.
Edit #3: Just putting a title on part of it, didnt want ya to think i disliked that much of it .
