Alright, this is my first post ever, although I've been playing for, oh, a bit over a month and a half.
Now, my impressions, based on what I have experienced in the game and the test.
Classes: From what I have seen, these are almost just like classes in most other games. There are 4 Tiers to the class, and what would seem like 4 skills per Tier, much like before. You are just locked in. Also note that it is not Force Sensitive, it IS Jedi as a class, and rather than Farmer Skywalker we see Return Skywalker, when he is in all black. However, note that you will still use a gun, and from what I've seen in the skills, you only get a lightsaber close to the start of Tier 4. (And no, I didn't pick Jedi to be some noob fanboy. I am an RPer, and was getting ready to start the basics of Jedi training, becoming initially Force Sensitive, when the NGE was announced.)
Movement: This is rather ackward in the NGE, there is no walk key from what I have found, and the movements all all very instant. In many respects this can be both better or worse, although I do not think that vehicle riding will be much easier with this, assuming it effects that too.
Combat: The big question from everyone. Combat. Well....it's confusing to be honest. You have to click an object to select it, if you can attack you have to keep clicking it. It does not seem that you can actually miss, and the few enemies (Boxes and Stormtroopers) I have fought did not display any real tactics. They just stood still. Overall, this is almost exactly the same as before, we still click, except now we click the target instead of a bar. I have not found any form of self-heal yet. There seem to be no fighting tactics as of yet, no kneeling in combat, prone, jumping, it's literally just aiming and maybe running if you want. I do not know if the enemy missles still "home" in while running, but it seems like it.
UI: The new UI is very basic, and very different. It is also fairly ineffective, and would have been better to be unchanged. This is one of the worst things I have seen yet in this new....improvement, so it's called. I have also noticed no way to chat, and in general the new UI is overall confusing, and I'd imagine newer players might have a problem with this. It is, however, notable that you cannot use the Combat and UI modes at the same time, you have to switch like in space with alt. I've also noticed an exp. bar, which to me means that there is in fact a standard MMORPG form of leveling rather than leveling based on skills bought as in pre-NGE.
Selections: This is difficult...I find opening boxes and such, equiping, looting, etc. to seem to "lag" between when you click and when it opens, and from what I've seen may require double clicking and then waiting. I have not really noticed right clicking in almost any way yet, but maybe I just didn't try...
Play: Play...well, what can I say. I get a few instructions from a bronze droid and a smuggler. I could not get aboard the Millenium Falcon, and in logged out. But as of now all I can say....it's a bunch of running, and clicking.
Overall I'm going to say the the main improvement was in Player Creation, which is simplified, but just the same lacks things such as the Bio and whatnot. From what I have seen, the current game is generally better than what the NGE promises to bring, but that is just my opinion.
It will definately need to be fleshed out, and would surely need either multiple characters per server per person, and it would also need to allow for hybrid classes. It would probably be better in the World of Warcraft system, where you have a Combat Class at all times, and can have two Crafting Classes, in this case we would have the various forms. Merchant, Musician, Dancer, Weaponsmith, etc, rather than those be actual classes to themselves.
