This may have been answered already but... how long was it after u mastered your last profession untill u got FS.  I may have a theory on how to get it.  People may have already thought of it but i havent heard it yet.

Theory:  Master 4 professions

U wont know what they r.

Four holocrons will tell u what 3 professions to master.  The silend is the missing key.

If u master the profession that the silent one doesnt tell u, u should get FS.

Let me know what u think.

Maybe her last holocron was silent because she already mastered the required profession.

I'm now on my second holocron and I have a few questions.

1. If you haven't mastered the first holocrons profession will the next one tell you to master the same one?

2.  I heard that a holocron will break in your inventory after a period of time, is this true?

3.  Can you drop your profession after you master it and still qualify for jedi?

I have a question for the new jedi now this is an easy one with verly little pain to answer so plaese if youget a second let us know!

How many skill points had you used in your 250 allowence with your first character before the slot was unlocked I'm tracking a numerical code in the data files and I think it may be linked to the slot this information may be the key.  Please if you get a chance post the total skill points used thanks very much and good luck!

Monika,

Were you upset that you had dropped all your doctor skills and then had to go relearn them all for the holocron? Not that doctor is as hard as some of the other professions, but I would tend to envy the guy that got Dancer AND Musician for his holos, cause he can afk his way to jedi faster than most LOL...

The big question everyone needs to know, did you personally loot all the holocrons you used?

Holocrons are not a requirement to opening the FSCS this has been stated again and again by the DEV's and others they give a "hint" and a hint only so it does not matter if looted or bought ones were in use it is a very imposing fault of people to get hung up on things this is one of those things, it is more likely that you need 2.5 million XP and over 200 skill points, a house and declared residence, and some kind of theme park completed then it opens up!!  After all the holocrons went silent and T' mastered two more skills totaling 9 I think from reading the post!  Please please please, the holocrons hint at things not tell you exactly what to do (in total, yes they say master doctor or some other skill I know this I'm even doing master marksman because one said too but I will not get anymore as they hint alone not tell me the actual way to get there).

I would much rather discover the "path" or method on my own then be told the exact way of doing this task.

anyway if you ask me it's clearly explained that it is a elite elite profession that takes time and XP derived from roleplay it cant be simply switched on withing a week. It is more likely that the above is correct or close to being corect then most of the methods discussed and no it's not my idea it's many merged into one from many things said and hinted at and as well as compiling the stats of our new jedi firends original C and DEV quotes.

2.5 million XP in total (possible 3 Million or 5 - taken from stat compiles andxp counting from monica's stats)

Theme parks seem to be a key element as from posts here and on other boards all new jedi seem to have done one major themepark.

and all have a delcared residence on some planet (doesn't seem to matter which planet)

and all (waiting on monica's confirm here) had over 200 skill points used at the time of the unlocking.

this fits with the seeming odd timing of unlocking after killing a generic group of creatures.

It is possible that it is an experiance thing only needed?  You can have the XP without the trained skill so by gaining enough you unlock the slot. (for thoses that dont realise or know you can sacrifice a skill but you keep the XP relearning these skills is simply a matter of money and training not going through the skillz tree again)

Each person gains XP in a different way so both statements by DEV's fitt with this idea you can gain XP by power playing or by slowly selling items and baking cakes! the quickest way to get XP is to level up in areas this also mean you and I gain XP doing different things and there we have it each player will unlock it differently part two answered.

Part three yes holocrons hint at it they get you to go do things and master skillz giving you XP hint given and this would account for power player opening slots before casual players as well they level quicker also fighters will open it faster then artisans it all fits the bill and as they say if it looks like a crow and sounds like a crow it must be a crow! and if the shoes fits hehe

anyway just ideas and a request not to get too hung up on the holocron thing as it 'IS" only a "hint"

OK well first off i just want to say that i just wanted a yes or no answer from the person who opened thier slot, not a detailed 50 mile post from someone who has not even done it yet, that being said.

I have personally looted 12 holocrons, i have given away 4, used 1, kept 4, and sold 3, of the 4 i gave away not a single one told anyone to do something different from what it told me to do, so i have a good reason for asking this, the holocron may only be a "hint" but im telling you its my hint not a hint based on them.

I must say that after looking at the path Monika had to take that I am actually quite happy.  Assuming most of it was required, it is a very involved road to get there which will take it from the hands of the casual gamer (or at least delay by a considerable margin) and unfortunately from the hands of people wishing to stick to one particular role for their character.  However, whilst that it is a shame for many who might have made good Jedi, it does mean that overall numbers should be few compared to overall player base.  I'm reasonably sure I won't ever get there as the character I concentrate on I roleplay in a given way which does not allow for such radical career shifts, but it does mean that Jedi's should remain fairly rare - which is good.

I actually disagree that it is a powergamer route strangely enough - powergaming surely is about having power and constantly losing your gained power to follow a new route isn't so much in that style.  Neither is exploring obscure places.  No, what I think Monika is, is a dedicated player that has invested incredible amounts of time and effort on playing SWG to its full potential.  Yes, this method does reward grinding which is disheartening, but if seeing so much of the galaxy and taking part in many different things is the key then it is perfect.  It will be sad once the method is determined and people do all these things purely to get to Jedi but maybe the devs will change the way it is done.  We also do not know if the devs have analysed the new Jedis' skills as roleplayers before this point - I hope that is part of it.

It is also a perfect way to deal with those who have literally seen everything and need a new experience.

Congrats Monika and all the others!

To reply to Lexxen's post ( I am newbie to posting so I don't know how to insert quotes....scroll up to see it), I don't think that they wanted to know if holocrons were required, because by now we all know that they aren't.  I think the actual question they wanted to know, reworded, is this:

Is the path to fscs a group of RANDOM professions, or is the path SET at character creation by the dev team?

Another related question to insert here would be:

Is the path to fscs through mastering professions RANDOM or do you have to do them in a certain ORDER?

If the former, then without holos only luck and/or time spent mastering all professions will get your fscs open.

If the latter, then it would behoove (sp?) all of us to use the holocrons so we don't dump professions we may need to unlock our slots.  If we choose not to, revert to the former.

Basically, you don't NEED to use holocrons, that fact is established.  But without them, you might as well just attempt to master all professions one by one and hope that you choose the right ones before you go through them all.

Ok i dont have the screenie yet, it will come and ill post it up somewhere when i get chance...

A friend of mine, claims to have opened his FSCS... he didnt master a single profession, nada, zippo, zilch.
So this leads me to beleive that mastering professions isnt necessary, maybe theres just a randomly generated list of skills you must learn before it unlocks the slot. This has been discussed before and this evidence supports that theory...

I'll post the screenie as soon as possible, but its unlikely to be for a day or so...
(Don's flame proof armour... i guess i'll get ripped to bits until the Screenie is available)
