From what I can tell of Holo, he knew what he was saying when he said this. It probably wasn't a slip. He wanted us to see this...
I agree. Whenever the devs have talked about the FS system, it's always been said in exactly the same way. The mention of checking off items, and the mention of a certain "recipe", has been said several times.
Ugh! My only problem with this.... its obvious nobody that is "checking" off items even knows they are doing it.. which means the 1st to open a FS slot could be some silly 10 year old that only speaks in "leet" talk.... ugh
Depends on what the checklist consists of, really.
They said they were hoping some people couldn't change their playstyle. Maybe the objectives are things that the l33t kids wouldn't want to do under penalty of boredom.
"When a player asked if the force sensitive system is actually live on the servers, Holocron confirmed it is:
You can unlock a force sensitive slot right now--all the tracking is in place, and people are checking off items.
-Raph Koster, Creative Director
Wow! "
OH GOOD LORD !!!
NOW, maybe people will stop posting that the code to unlock the FSCS isn't in the game !!
This is what, about the 5th time they've said it IS in the game? Thank god that it was a very direct question and that the answer was very direct. If we had gotten some ambiguous jedi question or answer people would be arguing it still !
I agree, I truly think that Holo's words were choosen wisely as to give us a hint but not give away too much!
Well the Xp bar could be something on the list if you think like...........
Checklist #1 Master starting profession......... or
#1 Master a profession
So now I guess the thoughts have to be what are they tracking ? Oh and by the way, this should dispel the rumors about the L337 Sp33k, swearing and RP'ing to open the FSCS as he says all the tracking is in place and they have "recently" said they do not have a system in place to track chat nor would they want to if they could !
Oddly isn't this week 2 months for release?

FWIW, i'd like to chime in here that xp bar and checklist have a lot in common.
XP bar kind of makes me think some actions would be repeatable, for points. it would make sense to have an XP bar, because every other skillset in the game has XP bars, as opposed to checklists.
a checklist to me implies a bunch of one-time only actions. a good argument for having a checklist is so that you can't grind your way to fs status, which i think would be a big incentive for the devs to use a checklist instead of xp.
as of raph's quote... we KNOW that the system is at least PARTIALLY checklist. IMHO, this is probably so they could include more complex items on the list- things that don't translate well into XP. what i'm wondering is, if there is any real evidence of having any sort of hybrid XP/checklist, as opposed to just a straight checklist where we need to fill out X number of boxes?
jatwhal, they could be tracking 'roleplaying' in a couple of ways... most notably emotes, moods, socials. while they can't really interpret and assign points to what you say to other players, i most definitely think they can (and possibly do) track using emotes, targeted emotes, moods, socials, languages, etc.
whether any of this is being used as a bullet point on the checklist is up in the air.... but let me ask a hypothetical question: if you were a developer who wanted to weed out certain types of people, while give a hand up to others, would you include these items on your list?
I don't think anyone implied that there were actual items to acquire, just "things" to be done.
He didn't say how close anyone was this time, I'm wondering if people, somehow, set themselves back?
About two months ago he said we'd start seeing it in two months. You'd imagine he would've said something along the lines of "And some of you are very close"... but he didn't.

Actually, they said they can't track roleplay, so it won't be part of the requirements
Tracking roleplaying seemed like a viable method for determining who got a FS slot (I made a post on it a little farther down on the list, but no one seemed interested ). However after Holo's post about marking off items on the list, it seems like its most likely some sort of achievement based system. Which will almost certainly result in lots of l33t jedi to say the least.
“You need to seriously role-play to become a Jedi. Totally untrue. We can't really track it, as I've noted, so we can't use it as a determining factor in whether or not your character becomes a Jedi. I will reveal that becoming a Jedi will involve different things for different players: Some players might find that role-playing was a significant factor, others will feel that exploration was the key, still others might not know exactly what they did to become a Jedi. Let's all say it together: *It will be a different experience for everyone.* Those things that are required of everyone to become and remain a Jedi will make sense within the context of what a Jedi represents in the game, but they will never involve ‘chatting’ as a Jedi.” Haden, Feb 2001
Although I would like it if it was some part of the requirements...
All I know and care about is we got a response they are reading our stupid theories and the slot is active (or there has to be some kind of law suit we can pull) Personally I roleplay and will just continues on my path hoping to stumble across it.
"So until imp jedi stop menstrating i got your number, all in the name of the empire, Imps should be men not whiney school girls."
