taken from what i know form the posts of the 2 people that unlocked it this is how you unlock it. It seems simple to me.
1. get holocrons and master the professions it gives you + a few other random professions, (or for those who dont want or cant find holocrons just master ALL the professions).
2. faction align and do your faction theme park.
3. get at least 2 badges
4. do any other 3 quests or theme parks (i.e jabbas palace, jedi missions on dantooine, ect.
5. travel to every planet
6.buy a house and declare residancy.
And that is all you have to do. Why do i know this? Because from what was posted on this fourm that is all that the 2 people who unlocked it did.

Faction points 110cr per point...Slicing at 5k per item.
Those are the things that they did and remembered doing it. They both might've done a certain mission for an NPC early on in the game but forgot about it. That certain mission could've been a critical requirement of the unlocking process. As far as that being the formula.. If you do all of that you should be good enough to unlock it, BUT, that's definately not the minimum of all the things that need to be done. Maybe you only need 1 badge or maybe none at all. See what I'm saying?

Wow.. You should at least test your new AXP theory before you go out on every topic and force it on everyone. It's ok if you choose to live and die by your AXP theory, but do it on your own topic. I'm not saying that your theory isn't wrong but it isn't a fact yet. What you should do is take a break from the forums and go out and field test your theory..

I might be mistaken on this, but at the beginning of the game it was explained to me that the key to unlocking a FS slot would be different for every character, which is what made the entire process unique. If everyone could follow "steps" it would not make any sense. If the holocrons tell you to master certain professions plus a random one at your pick, that obviously isn't going to be enough. For all we know Monika T'Sarn was required to master certain professions and kill a certain number of creatures. She even said her FS slot was unlocked after she "killed a Piket on Dantooine."
Hmmmm......so many experts out there know the process though.....

it is diffrent. diffrent professions, diffrent badges, diffrent quests.
There is a thousand diffrent roads (paths) that you can take driving from LA to New York and each one is diffrent. But they all require you to drive East.
You have to look at general direction of the path not the spicifics of it. And with the way these 2 people played the game you can see they did the same GENERAL things. It was the spicifics that made it diffrent and unique (diffrent for every character).
They both had got a house and declared residancy (diffrent places at diffrent times).
They both got badges (diffrent badges).
They both got holocrons that told them proffessions (diffrent proffessions).
They both master several other professions (some the same, some diffrent).

Accually the picket she killed did nothing but update her character. Ever have that happen? You log in from a server reboot, and kill something or do something that gains you some xp of any kind and you get a few msg saying you qualify to learn a new skill. She said she logged in, and buffed herself, then took a ticket to dantooine. You don't get xp for self buffing/healing. Then the first one she killed updated her character.
So killing the picket didn't unlock it.

And you know this for certain because.......... I'm sick of people like you posting that you "know" something when the truth is that it is all speculation and theories. I read your main post on this idea and you provided no support for it whatsoever except your own self-serving statements. Besides, shouldn't you be out giving up skills and relearning them to get more apprentice xp instead of posting here?
