Actually, I remember awhile back that somebody DID get politician as a profession.

Apparently it depends on when your character was created. People who have been around longer are guraranteed to not have to do any future professions.

Yeah, but I think the Devs said that was a bug. I think if you get politician and contact a CSR they will change it for you.

I will say there seems to be no pattern.  And from experience watching this game and all threads involved for that last 3 years, do not TRUST whatever the Devs tell you.  Any information they give has to be taken lightly... they like to take the Obi-Wan Kenobi stance on the truth.... its true from a certain point of view.
 
They have said that Exploration may be a key for some........ Unlocking is not based on luck........ Jedi hae the ability to keep lightsabers from decaying...   all of these are lies in the truest meaning of lie.   Do not take what you read from the devs as being true.
 
And on your topic.. people have received   BE, BH, Musician and Combat Medic as professions... so it doesnt follow a combat or non combat related algorhythm

I agree...the devs are not to be fully trusted.

I myself got 2 combat and 2 non-combat holos. However, if you looked at my original post you'll notice I said I thought that your 5 professions were actually 5 pairs of professions with the holos picking random professions.

It was a CSR, not a dev, that said it was random... and as we know, a lot of their "info" is flawed and inaccurate... until Q3PO comes out here and tells us the method, I'm still skeptical.

Interesting post.  I see no reason that this would not be possible.  I sent you a pm Kobe hoping to get some feedback from you.  I have completed 9 crafting profs and I am interested in testing this.  Thanks for your help.

This is not true. I had an in-game ticket with the CSR stating that they aren't even allowed to discuss the jedi system with players, let alone switch out politician.

Oh, and by the way Kobe, I've mastered every artisan and every entertainer based profession and I'm not unlocked.

Now go master the 4 medical (science?) professions to complete all 16 non combat professions, and you will have proven Kobe wrong.  Unless I'm mistaken these are medic, doctor, combat medic and bio engineer.

So are we talking dividing the profs into combat and non-combat? (Smuggler, for example would be a combat prof in this division)  Or crafting and non-crafting.  (Smuggler would be a crafting prof in this case)  I am interested in hearing everyones opinions on this, Could mean I'm really close to testing this.

This seems like something that should be tested but somehow I doubt the devs would make it so.  Combat professions are the hardest ones to lvl in my opinion.

I've done

Combat: Marksman, Fencer, Pistoleer, Smuggler, Carbineer, Brawler

Non Combat: Armorsmith, Droid Engineer, Artisan, Medic, Scout

RaccaBoo - in a "perfect" game I think the difficulty is about even. Even, if you factor in resource collection and assume that you aren't macroing anything. In fact, if you had to collect all of your resources and didn't macro I'd say the crafting professions would be harder.
