Yeah- that's really it man.  I just want all the attention.  Yet, i spend numerous hours making a database for many people to sign up on and enter their mastered professions just so i can be a hero and only to prove myself wrong.   I was a firm believer that a PATTERN or EXPLANATION did in fact exist.  After a massive success with the holobase, i now completely believe that professions are selected totally at random.  You are an idiot and I hope you never unlock your slot.  If all you want to do is flame my theory then you can go **edit** yourself, if you have some actual valid input that you would like to contribute to possibly help the SWG community like i have, please post it.  You sound like the 15 year old to me...

There are plenty of people who play this game who have been demonstrated to be grandmasters in grinding. The proof (or disproof) of this theory is simple, and really painful.

Start a new character. Open a holocron immediately. If the profession is one where mastery can be avoided until last (no professions above it requiring it be mastered), don't master it.
Master the other 32 professions first.

If you unlock with that holo provably undone, you validate that the candidate list (the list you have to have 5 professions done from) is larger than 5. If you fail to unlock with 32/33 professions complete (do politician early, so the waters aren't muddied with the possibility they didn't add politician to the list of possible candidates at all), and only the holocron profession remains, you have to get 5/5 professions.

There is no way in hell I'll do this test. =) But it's possible to do it, since there are people who can and have ground professions merrily and done HUGE amounts of the full tree in short time (and we have a publish or two to run the test).

For those people currently grinding, the results of the test are almost certainly going to be irrelevant, but for simple curiosity, if someone wants to do the pain of this controlled test, i'm going to cheer them on.

Make sure you get a screenshot with timestamps on of the first holo message, with your badge window open to show no badges have been obtained.
When done (if you do 32/33), another timestamped screenie showing all of the badges on the same character except the holo prof.

Maybe that's because the jedi system wasn't even implemented yet and and when it was finally implemented (i.e. after they unveiled the Dark Jedi Knight Path GASP!) it was scanning all the users from all the galaxies to see who would unlock their slots based on the professions mastered.  300k users is alot of people to scan ya know.
