Respec NPCs are going with pub 28. This needs MAJOR Clarification

NPCs will be stationed in some cities that allow you to change your profession for a price. As a gift for publish 28 everyone gets one respec from the NPCs for free. The NPCs work essentially the same as the respec devices.

That is EXACTLY how it is done in WoW. No wonder your detractors keep saying you are copying WoW instead of doing your own game.

-Indene-

guess where they got it from? EQ

Indeed... at the end of the day WoW just took the best bits from all the current MMORPGS out there and bolted them together (with a couple of new features too)... however, I still don't think that MMORPGS have advanced that much from Ultima Online (apart from Graphics of course)... most of them are still about grinding in some way to raise your skills. This is why I enjoy playing EVE Online, because the skills are trained in realtime (while you are offline too!).

Out of interest Smed, have you ever had contact with Richard "Lord British" Garriot?

Time for brutal honesty from one little rodian that lives in a place called valcyn.

I was never a fan of the jedi profession in the way it was introduced as an alpha class to the game.  But other's liked it.  Fine.  Here's where it really burned me though.  Time and again smugglers have been promised revamp after revamp, only to have this mythical revamp pushed off in favor of the jedi.  I see, yet again, the jedi get attention before the smugglers.  Fine.  But, for the love of yoda, please work WITH the smuggler community to make this work.

There were things about the pre-cu I didn't like,  things about the CU I didn't like.  But the good always was greater then the bad aspects.  Then we are blindsided by the NGE, and for me, personally, the only reason I stick around anymore is for my friends (what few of them are left) and because it's Star Wars.  No matter how jacked up it gets, it's still star wars.  Space is a blast currently.

And here's the brutal part.  I personally think, the one thing that most of the player base would love to see done to the game is the old profession system.  That's all most of us want back I think.  The profession system of old is the one thing that really set SWG apart from the other MMO's.  I would go as far to make a deal with the powers that be as this:  Give us the old profession system in all it's 255 skill point glory and you'll never hear a peep from me about how crappy the new combat system is.

at least humor me with a "no".

but on a more serious note, how about giving me the ability to "deactivate' my account, so i can save my prepaid time untill you get this game in its 'finished' state.

as it is now, im just wasting my time in waiting for this 'finished' game, and then i can decide if i want to play it, or ditch it.

i will admit, its not fair to you guys for me to judge where i stand on the game, when even you admit its not finished.

if we want to be friendly, polite and respectfull to each other, please stop ignoreing that that when alot of us prePaid, the NGE was no where in sight (even to your top CS relations person at the time, or are we to belive tiggs is lieing when she states she had no idea about the nge?)

unless you stand up and admit how unfair it is to this specific situation, i see no real drive to be friendly, polite or respectful to you. and im sure you understand why.

serious offer on the table smed's. and i'd also like to read how you feel about those of us who are stuck with useless paid for time. im not asking you to justify it (even if i used those words) but i want some recognition and for someone (other than other players) to admit its an awefull bit of wrong doing on the part of SOE.

then just maybe, there might be some way to rectify this situation.

unfortunitly for you, im prePaid till the end of this comming july. and im not going away till i get a satisfactory answer regarding this issue.

OR, take me up on my offer, and someone else can fight this fight, as i will take me leave happily.

pm your answers if you dont want to open the can of worms here. (i promice to keep it between you and I if that is the reason i get no responce)

I guess I'll just keep trying...

Devs:

Are Politicians and Player Cities factored in any future plans for SWG? Right now, both are a mess. Everyone is a Politician. Player Cities are absolute ghost towns. Politicians have very little control over their cities and no content to speak of.

Specials not firing is a problem with a client timer.  Please see my above post for details.  Aside from that, we are investigating the possibility of slowing combat down a smidgeon - not by much though.

I don't buy this from Helios.......I have been doing soem testing with heals while fighting in SHer Kar cave and with 56(ping) 30(Fps) AMD4000 processor 2 gig ram dual BFG6800Ultra OC computer and showing zero packet loss when I heal I stop attacking and move away from SHer Kar, I heal....the timer goes off and no heal happens...being far enough away from the boss so not getting attacked and still no heal, it happens a lot. DOn't think slowing combat is going toi change that in any way you have other problems going.

I understand this may be a tough time/day for you, but if you don't want to "argue" or discuss comments you make here, why even make them?

To me, Entertainer is an absolutely valid SW profession and one that this game sorely needs to have fixed before the final transformation of this once great MMORPG turns completely into the fragfest, no community game it more and more resembles.

I'm here and I'm talking and I'm willing to discuss these issues.  But, I don't think anyone can make the argument that when asked, 'What first comes to mind when you think about Star Wars?' Entertainers come to mind.  That doesn't mean they should be eliminated or marginalized.  People like playing them.  But, they aren't as core to the SW experience as many of the other iconic professions.

We're going to keep supporting Entertainers.  That's why they are on the profession selection screen and that's why we're actively making modifications to them.

KO

Although entertainers are not from the SW universe we do see entertainers/cantina play a vital role in the movies. 1. Ep2 Cantina where skywalker and kenobi track down the bounty hunter. Had the cantina been empty the BH would have been caught right away. Ep 3 Palpatine and the wealthy are ENTERTAINED by those glowing bubbles (dont know what they were LOL) 3p 6 The green twilek performs for jabba as does the band, also when she is killed provides forshadow to what happens to luke when he is dropped in the rancor pit

No. I actually asked some of our server programmers about having cross-server battlefields once...I was lucky to make it out alive. I will never forget that haunting, souless looks in their eyes. It was like looking into the face of death.

So...um...yeah...no.

Hi everyone,

Lots of talk about the "secret" project which really isn't a secret anymore. We are doing a playable demo for E3 and Swede is working on the team that is putting that together. The project is actually going to be larger then just the demo and become a new themepark with a GCW theme (lots of Rebels v. Imperials) to it, which will be put into the game in publish 29.

The intention of this themepark is to cover our bases with E3 and develope a new set of repeatable, high end content for all of you.

The expansion team, which is no more, is now working on nothing but high end content that will be sent out in our regular publishes.

Freakin Awesome! BUT... why did you wait to tell us? Rogue_5, Julio and Th have promissed us communication for over a month and FINALLY it is being given. Kudos to community for pushing hard enough for Smed to come in here and light some fires. Kudos to you as well Smed, your post today have been well received. I hope it continues. you have made my month... now just dont wait till the end of next quarter to do it again =)

Honestly. It is because the final decision to cancel the expansion just happened less then two weeks ago. Since that time, we have been figuring out what it is that the game needs out of its high end content, and then trying to come up with fun, cool ideas for that content. The first draft of the GCW themepark design document was just finalized a few days ago. So you are actually hearing about these changes pretty quickly.

was this the week nobody posted?  ...we know the drill (how sad that we do)
