hey wanna know why most ppl on posting on this forum are positiv to the NGE.... is cause they havent quit and ended sub...
as when ur account exspires u cant post on the forum anymore....
reason u are getting alot of crap about the NGE too is cause someone loved this game so much that they are willing to pay the monthly fee just to be able to post on the forums and pray for the MUCH needed rollback.. i read earlier much earlier in this thread that ... to get a true view over how to know for sure wich "era" of SWG was the best.. send an email to all ppl whom have ever had an account with a poll where they can vote for wich of the 3 .. err games are the best!!!
Can you plz define what a hardcore player is and why you think they are bad for SWG?
Thx, Ms. Miller
A hardcore player - hmm. Ok. I would define it this way - The first 300k people that bought SWG were probably hardcore players. They are people that tend to buy more than one game a year. They are typically people that have tried other MMOs.
And in no way do I think they are bad for SWG. I don't believe a game can ultimately last 7-8 years by only appealing to people like us (yes, I am one of them). My son is 11 years old. He plays MMOs with me. He's hardcore too. He knows about every new game that's coming out. His friends.. they are all playing a game called RuneScape that I'll bet most of the people on these boards have never even heard of. It's at www.runescape.com - I urge you to go check it out. It's got a playerbase as large as WoW's... but you've never heard of it because they don't advertise. The only way kids hear about it is from their friends.. but half the kids in my son's class are playing it.
Could you say if the "Secret Project" that several (rough est. 95%) DEVs are working on, has anything to do with SWG? This has been answered.... It will impact the SWG... But will it be a "Good" thing or a "Bad" thing...

at least until there are more quests added to the game, it would be very nice for us all, the xp nerf on kashyyyk was a kick in the teeth for all player's below lvl 60.
Smed please take a look at this post.
please smed, also consider Quest XP for space quests.
sorry to bump my own post again
Although this isn't the fix you guys are looking for, it at least makes the game bearable until there is enough quests in the game
PLEASE respond to this..
SOMEONE PLEASE RESPOND TO THIS
I know you guys are swamped, but we really would like to know this.
There are acouple issuse that I see. One thing is the lack of end game content to keep me busy. It seems the publish plan is going to take some time to complete. Without this plan finished there isnt much point in playing my character, as I mainly play games for the PvP. Right now its just a zerg sysytem with no point/goal. It would be nice to see some kind of temp. point system or some kinda goal to accomplish for PvP. If we can get anything in the realistic near future, why cant we have more character slots? This would atleast keep me busy maken and LvLing alts.
Another issuse related to the first is the publish plan itself. Classes being reworked one at a time leaves alot of people toward the end frustrated. Couldnt you toss a bone for some of the other classes prior to their scheduled revamp? If you are 90 and have all your items, and want to PvP and your class falls at the end of the cycle your outta luck and will get owned in PvP.
One more point I would like to make is the buffs, they need to stack better. Right now there is little reason to do all the mustafar quests due to the fact you can only use one wearable item buff. I cant see the reasoning in not being able to use, lets say, the mining necklace and a crystal that adds to offensive attack, like the distance globe.
There are other questions but I feel these are more of my top ones
In an interview with the New York Times, Nancy MacIntyre, senior director for SWG at LucasArts states, “We wanted more instant gratification: kill, get treasure, repeat. We needed to give people more of an opportunity to be a part of what they have seen in the movies rather than something they had created themselves."
Thank you to those who has reply saying that the whole thing with the "Secret Project" was from Swede... hopefully Smed will comment on the fact that Light has SHINED on the "Secret Project" subject...
(oh & Pres. Smed.... what about 2 - 6... any comments???)
please link to this post you're talking about and I'll try and find out what it refers to.

Swede bowed out of spearheading some issues, and speculations snowballed from there...
well, here is a Link to what Swede said... any response {Please don't fire Swede...}
There is no secret project. We are doing a really new cool event which we will be showing off at E3.
So it is a secret until E3 which makes it a SECRET PROJECT.
Hi everyone,
Lots of talk about the "secret" project which really isn't a secret anymore. We are doing a playable demo for E3 and Swede is working on the team that is putting that together. The project is actually going to be larger then just the demo and become a new themepark with a GCW theme (lots of Rebels v. Imperials) to it, which will be put into the game in publish 29.
The intention of this themepark is to cover our bases with E3 and develope a new set of repeatable, high end content for all of you.
The expansion team, which is no more, is now working on nothing but high end content that will be sent out in our regular publishes.

in the old days i knew what rifle a new player needed, and what rifle an advanced player needed. I could stock both.
Now we have CL 88 CDEF rifles.
We don't have any way to construct level specific weapons.
You're right. The current loot game within SWG is in direct opposition to the trader profession. That's why we're changing what traders are and how they operate so that they operate in congruence and harmony with the current loot game. While no concrete plans have been made, I suspect schematics, mass harvesting, factory crafting and similar aspects of the current trading game to be adapted to something more suitable.
As a trader and miner I can say that I would rather you go forward to the old way. Where it mattered to get resources and craft the best there is. Where it mattered to have the best resources. Turning trader from crafter/merchant to just merchant is NOT what I believe most trader/crafters are looking for.
Maybe adding reverse engineering of loot drops might be fun but scrapping the best ever crafting system in the entire MMO world to "adapt" it to loot drop game would not be pleasing for most of the crafters and ex crafters I know.

P.S. Thanks again for comming here and discussing the plans with us.

We recognize that the current profession system doesn't allow for any real level of character differentiation. As such, we're currently working on an "Expertise" system, that grants the players "points" to spend on specialization. The expertise system gives the profession system a similar feel to what we had pre-nge as far as character customization goes. The tech for this system is being developed for the next publish (this won't be visible to you guys). The publish after that, we're looking at pushing out the first two professions's worth of expertise trees, with two professions targeted for every publish after that. Generally speaking, we'll have three trees for each profession to choose from, including a GCW tree and a "path" tree that will hold things like "dark" and "light" side powers for Jedi, for instance (or droid specializtion, vs poisons for Bounty hunters - for instance).
That's the plan.
YES!!!! This is what I have wanted for sooo long. Please treat Spy's fairly mr helios. ^_^
Can we get any more info on this please Helios?
"SWG was a world, now it's just a game" -adamrk- Goodbye, SWG. I log in every day, hoping it was all a bad dream.
Let's get all the bugs out of the game within 6 months. Maybe we won't hit it, but that's what we're shooting for.
Smed
Good o there chief. I'll check back in 6 months then. I'd love to come back sooner but I can't look at the game at the moment. Its a shadow in my opinion of what it used to be.
One thing that does get me is that through out this whole process where the whiners whined and things got nerfed that other professions were not buffed in order to counter the seemingly overpowered thing in the first place.
In 6 months when all the bugs are fixed they will release another NGE and we will be back to square one.

Ok... moving to fast to read everything... so I will just post my big three concerns and see if a response can be made
1) Is there any way to get a combat AND a non-combat skill on our characters? I have a back story for my main that goes back far before SWG. It is of a jedi/musician (ie. Tionne of the Jedi Academy novels). Allowing a combat AND a non-combat skill (entertainer/trader) would create diversityin our toons. It also would help return the number of traders and entertainers that have dissappeared.
2) Can we please get the old CA's and AA's converted to something useful under the new system. Even a temporary NPC that would evaluate the old ones and turn them into current stats would be great.
3) As a mayor of a major city I have a HUGE problem with the nerf to the Medium Naboo house footprint many months ago. This did not solve the problem because other types of houses can still be used to create 'walls'. Besides, there is no way to fill gaps left by these houses as no other house can fit in the space which drastically cuts the available building room in a city. Please return the footprint to it's original size and do not punish all the cities that did not use these as an exploit.

well ill be damned, seems you the only way you can get some good info is if you et the MAN himself invoved. thanks for the info helios. you do realize if you had told us something liek this earlier that we wouldnt be moaning all day long. just keep that in mind guys.
Smed and devs, I will be leaving on the 11th of April (account finally expires then). I can see where you plan on taking the NGE and it doesn't really solve the issues that many of the original subs had with this game. Personally adding achievement points, or expertise trees as you call them here really does not offer anyone the "specialization" they had in the old system. All this does is show that if you want to PvP everyone will take the PvP tree. If you want to craft droids you take the droid PvP tree. But that is not the same as saying, you want to be uber in defenses and master fencer, TKM and pick up some pistoleer and have minimal offense compared to someone that wants uber offense by mastering rifleman, commando and suffering in defenses. The original game could of been balanced with each profession. It wasn't even the particular professions that people loved, it was the ability to change the professions, build your own unique skill set and then alter it as your enjoyment of the game changed. The NGE is no where close to this. In the old system, people were not as interested in profession specific quests (which really are limited anyway now in the NGE) they wanted content that was star warsy. I think SOE and LA is viewing what happened and coming up with a distorted view of what the player base was asking for, maybe we weren't clear, or maybe there is a larger community that is not on the boards that SOE and LA are talking too. But the Corvettes, the Cries of Alderaan, old PvP and PvE battlefields were what people enjoyed. Instead of the NGE you could of kept the old professions, fixed all the specials and balanced them by restricting certain combinations, such as never allowing a rifleman to shoot as fast as a pistoleer, balancing armor and buffs so it no longer placed people into god mode, and gave us a galactic civil war. Star Wars galaxies fails because it fails to bring us star wars. The NGE would of been better received as a SWG-2, but with better profession choices as being iconic, such as Storm Trooper, Rebel Trooper, Imperial Naval Officer. Just my opinion of course, and seeing where the game is headed, I personally will not be interested in playing it. But I can hope that maybe, in the future when SWG-2 does become a possibility, the original goals of SWG-1 can be revisited.
PS: Alpha classes could of been handled better by adding more than just jedi, such as adding bounty hunter as an alpha class in addition to jedi, so there was a natural competition there.
