Will we ever see Clothing and Armor Attachments drop again? Crafters right now are getting screwed because they can't get any more experimentation points since they aren't dropping.

Someone from the dev team please answer this question.

Smed

The reverse engineering system planned for the trader revamp will replace things like clothing and armor attachments.  In the mean time, it's unlikely that we will add content that will be replaced with an upcoming publish.  So the short answer is we don't plan on adding too much to trader until we do their revamp.

That's good for armorsmiths and tailors.... what about Chefs?

I asked earlier on a couple simple topics that you guys should be able to answer:

1. Will we ever get Milk again (able to harvest) so we can create the foods that use it as a REQUIREMENT?  Just turn the option back on for milking animals (or turn off the code that shows everyone as 'spooked').. how hard is it to do that???

2. Will we be able to get BE/Tissues or Additives to be able to craft food with?

Simple questions... what's the answer?

Thanks!!!

Is there any chance that on normal server maintenance that the euro servers could be taken down to fit european time? it's ok for me that all server are down the same time with hotfix and publishes because that will ofcause take more work testing after it's updated on servers

Seriously, and with respect, I tried to recruit a lot of people to this game.  The complaints I heard was that they didn;t want to take on the investment and frustration of a game that was bugged, so they waited.  Then the combat revamp never happened and people who were playing with me, got bored and left.  And then SWG got such a bad rep, people stayed away.

Everyone I know who starts an MMO, wants something that is complex.  i mean if you're paying a monthly subscription you want a game that is worth it.  I've never had anyone complain the game was too complex.  Too difficult, maybe; Not enough content, maybe; Buggy, sure.  Heck, I've had people say how they love the diversity in the gameplay as they've not needed to buy other games and hence have saved money

WoW made a streamlined MMO that gave people their first taste of online gaming...but you know people complain they get bored in that game, and I always thought that a better strategy for SWG was to have a more complex game that was a natural game for WoW 'refugees' to move on to.

as pvp has been mentioned here..can we expect a pvp system in which pvpers can advance, work together and spend their whole play time in if they wish and actually have fun and opponents .. so something drastic or will it be something like we had up to now again that is just a small part of the game not encouriging anyone to do it?

Yes, we have a large scale GCW battleground as well as a PvP leaderboard and rewards/advancement system in the pipe.

Again, this is good news and I for one cannot wait to see this reach fruition.

I just hit a bunch of buttons and hope everything works out.

  1. Could you say if the "Secret Project" that several (rough est. 95%) DEVs are working on, has anything to do with SWG? This has been answered.... sadly, it doesn't technically have anything to do with SWG...
  2. Will Smuggler's be able to Smuggle (i mean ACTUAL Smuggle)
  3. Are you going to get an "actual" SIG???
  4. CAPITOL SHIPS... What be ye Thoughts Admiral Smed
  5. What are your thoughts on this Idea: {PLUG: My idea for LS Crafting}?? I have recieved a response from Ex-Lord TH & Dev_Mercy on this... curious as to what the others think...
  6. Any chance you could put in a "good" word for me, in the Galatic Senate Program?

Smed and Team,

1. Are there currently any plans to address the older Theme Parks like Nym's, The Rebel, Imperial and other Quests like the Lytus Family Object Quest on Dantooine, The Lady Hutt Series on, Corellia, The Maruader Mini-Themepark, Endor and the like from the old SWG? Addressing this type content to bring them up to date and provide that much needed XP, is very important in the realm of the Combat Levels this particular content targets, i.e. 45-80ish.

2. Right now Specials and Heals are not firing a large percentage of the time. Is this bug being looked into?

Thank you for your time,

Mr. Smedley and SOE Devs... First, I would like to say that I really do appreciate you guys taking the time out of your day to answer our questions. I'm sure everyone else does to. I've been a member of the SWG community well before launch, and have been a subscriber since launch. I hope this is a change in the right direction for the sub-par customer support we've had thus far. I was curious if you guys would answer some questions that I've asked before, but have never gotten any replies on. If you take the time to read and reply, I thank you ahead of time.

>Animations -
Right now, the game is in poor shape. I can understand this to a degree, since you guys just pushed a major game mechanics overhaul. The major thing I have an issue with is the game animations. I've heard that there are new animations being planned for the game, but other than the announcement of "new animations", I've never heard anything beyond that. Right now, attacking animations for any melee weapon is just a joke. I'm poking beasts and other players to death with a lance or lightsaber. Jumping is just an emote at the moment... a rather low quality one at that. My question is, are there new animations being planned for release? If so, when can we expect to see them? Will new animations, such as one for jump, help us interact with the world

>In Game Community -
This is my major beef with the game at the moment. There is no sense of community in the game. This is due to a few things, but I think the major contributor to the lack of community is the low server population. I can spend a few hours on Starsider (my server) and not see more than 30 or so people. 15 of those people are in the Mos Eisley cantina, which has sort of turned into the RP center of my server. I'm trying not to tell you what to do, but I think that there really needs to be a condensing of servers. At any given time, I'd guess that there's somewhere from 200 to 500 people on the top 5 servers, like Bria and Ahazi. On other servers, which are less popular, there seems to be around 150 to 300 people. I remember a year back there was 100 people in Theed or Coronet alone. Now there's no more than a handfull of people at any given time. I think that you guys should seriously ponder limiting the amount of servers you have. You have a smaller player base than you did before, and the players are spread thinly across 25 or so servers. If you cut the servers down to about 15, we'll see larger populations on servers, giving the feeling of population and community back into the game. I don't know how you could go about this without pissing off players, since their player cities would be lost and so on, but I think for the time being, this would be a good idea. When/if a large amount of players start to flow into the game again, then more servers could be opened up, but at the moment, the players are spread too thin across the servers.

>Leveling Up -
I know this one is on the minds of several players in the community. What steps are being taken to ensure that we have enough content to actually GET us to lvl 90. At the moment, the whole "killing every thing that moves" grinding seems to be the best way to get XP. Questing, which if I understand correctly was supose to be the main way to get XP, has been reduced to nothing. The legacy quest only gets us up to lvl 45 or something. Kashyyyk quests have been nerfed, and Mustafar remains decent for XP. Of course, when the NGE came out, I did all the quests on Kashyyyk. I did 80% of the Mustafar quests. I was stuck with a lvl 80 toon with no way to level up without massive amounts of grinding. I'm just curious if there are plans to add missions more suitable to the lvl 65 to 90 crowd? At lvl 80, I only had a few options that actually posed challenges... one of those was the Avatar platform... which was nerfed from 175k XP to 1k XP. Repeatable quests have been nerfed as well. I have pondered starting up another character on my server, but I'm afraid that when I get around 65 or so, I'll be SOL and be stuck at that level for quite some time. Again, thank you for your time. If you answer my questions, I truely appreciate it.

I know this is a loaded question, but I think the community deserves an answer.  I know this is one of the things I've been upset about for a while.

Yes it's a loaded question, but I'll answer it. I think people that believe they are paying for a beta quit. Am I happy with the state of the game? No way. Do I think it's entertaining for a lot of people? Yes, or we wouldn't have subscribers. Is it good enough? Not yet.. no.

So no, I don't think people are paying for a beta. Again, I'm sure by the very nature of the question that you'll disagree.. but there it is.

Smed

I would like to respectfully disagree with you.  I myself am one of these people.  I know of many others that feel this way too.  If you don't believe me, do a poll on it.

ok. Maybe you're right. I think what you're saying is "I'm a loyal customer that thinks the game isn't in shape to where I should be paying". Is it entertaining you?

Smed

I am also one of those customers who would respectfully disagree with you.   In answer to your question "Is it entertaining me" the answer is NO.   I come here and post.  Lot more fun then current NGE game.  Or I play WoW etc.  During PreCU I palyed WoW just enough to get a feel for it then came back to PreCU SWG and stayed here.  Till the CU.  Started playing WoW more.  Then the NGE and my play of WoW went up and I restarted my play of EQ2.

I do want SWG to become big again so I continue to subscribe even though I could cancel and still post here because I also have a all station pass with my old EQ account.

On a side note I am one of many SWG players that would REALLY like to have our SWG accounts under all station pass but couldnt because of software bugs in the origional login and the transfer options offered by customer support are to delete either our EQ,EQ2 accounts or our SWG account and start over under the all stattion access

Last Thank you all for taking time to talk to us in this thread and to actually try and read and keep up with all the questions.

The irony of this situation is that I think YOU are the best example of why we need to make this game better. You should be in the game enjoying it.. not out here complaining about it. Obviously you're not enjoying it enough so we have to make it better! I'd love to see a ghost town on the forums and in-game see so many people we need to add 100 servers. We need to make the game better for that to happen.. and we're working on it.

Slicing type gameplay will return with the reverse-engineering game for traders.  GCW bases (not to be confused with battlefields) will be making a combeback in an upcoming publish.  One of the systems guys is looking into updating these as we speak.  Faction pets are coming back as part of GCW expertise trees (see my post above).

You're right.  The current loot game within SWG is in direct opposition to the trader profession.  That's why we're changing what traders are and how they operate so that they operate in congruence and harmony with the current loot game.  While no concrete plans have been made, I suspect schematics, mass harvesting, factory crafting and similar aspects of the current trading game to be adapted to something more suitable.

right then let traders reverse engineer the current loot drops to make better
