Jeez this thread just MOVES. Here are my ideas, if they are any use

Taken from Viraggo's Publish 28 lookahead post, Page 97:

The game is slowly returning to normal, with new great content that we have always wanted. I will split my comments up into sections so they are readable.

Armor Certification
I believe this is a great idea to remove armor certifications, because:

- A class that can wear recon only is outclassed by battle armor and assault armor types, etc
- We just like other types of armor we cannot wear!
- Other armors offer protection, however we can't wear that armor.

Armor Loot Drops
I believe crafted armor should be stronger than looted, for many reasons. I support a strong economy and I support looting hunts too, but really we need to make crafted armor better, so that the sales will repair the very shattered economy at the moment. I say shattered because it is, because it is obvious. Also please do not move the new special "Jedi Armor" anything out of "normal" range, or you will have a lot of people complaining about imbalance problems, but you guys probably already knew that. Please consider supporting your crafters in the future. I am also happy Mandalorian will stay in its proper class with Commandos and Bounty Hunters.

Bounty Hunting System
Something I have wanted to see for a LONG time. Bounties on anyone? Greatest idea since introducing Space to the game. As a spy I will enjoy hiding from my hunters, and I will enjoy putting bounties on my victims. Although there is no "real" advantage to bounty hunting players other than the bounty on their heads, there are a few "grudges" that I would love to take care of Post the characters name on a list to a list of Bounty Hunters, have him whacked, I get a screenie, nice thats one happy Admiral here GREAT idea. A++

PVP Enhancements
Therese arn't a joke, to me these are some really neat enhancements. A 30 second timer to deploy on the field is convinient, and I like how you guys did not make it so "On Leave" peeps can go to combatant via this method, they will need to see a trainer. I believe that the "loot one item" fiasco was a completely bad idea and I would have been upset if it were to go live. So that leaves PVP fun, but what is the end goal? My suggestion:

- Add enhancements, such as clothing or armor attachments as rewards. Don't make them uberly powerful,    but cumulative overtime and a semi-rare drop. Of course you will need to limit the drop count to 1 per different person PVP'd against, to prevent exploiting. Do not set a cap on these enhancements, rather let them decay overtime, so if the player wants to keep his or her stats up on their armor, clothes or weapon they will need to continue to PVP to get them. THAT will get people fighting.

Galactic Civil War Content
- But say we have a player that wants to fight in the Galactic Civil War, what can we do there to repair it? My first suggestion, is to make bases available again for capture and combat. That was a ton of fun when they were released and active, and I would love to do that again for roleplay, capturing cities and placing Imperial Bases over the Rebel ones

- To get people fighting in the GCW, we will need more than "planetary control" points to motivate us. I mean cool, Imperials are winning on Naboo, woohoo great, now what. You can let that enhancements idea be a driving force for this, but also please add some additional perks or "special faction abilities" that you can purchase with faction, such as maybe calling in appropriate level NPC reinforcements? I think that would be neat, people using these special GCW abilities (using a target cursor similar to heavy weapons now), the battles will be a lot cooler with a nice mesh of NPCs and Players fighting, Please do not inplement interplanetary space flight, what I mean is flying like JTL, but in the ground game. Give officers the ability to add bonuses to calling reinforcements (maybe an officer "ability" can increase the NPC attack, number of NPCs or defense by a small percentage) and maybe be able to add artillery bonuses to the upcoming artillery addition.

I like the idea of driveable AT-STs for Imps and maybe Tanks for rebels, however I can see it getting out of hand with a power balance (Then again what do commandos have rocket launchers for ? ) I would also like to see water combat vehicles, or vehicles with some kind of aiming gun to fire at other targets, thats not really a huge idea I want implemented with the attacking boats, but its nice food for flavor. Get us motivated with enhancements and abilities we can use in battle.

Decay
Absoloutly necessary to a thriving economy. We need decay on everything, including PVP decay. BUT BUT BUT! Decay does not have to be "game over" if the item is destroyed. Introduce repair kits specific to each traders wing (Sort of like Shipwrights now, they have repair kits for all ship parts) but make Armor Restore Kits, (We have Vehicle Restore Kits Now) Weapon Restore Kits, etc, so that when a players Armor or Weapon is decayed too much, he can purchase this kit (usually one will cost the price of what he bought the said item for, or a bit less or more depending on the trader) and completely refurbish it according to the success rate of the kit. If it decays more and he gets the same success with a different kit, it will replenish the same amount from the original as the last repair, However if he got a 99.9 sucess rate tool, it should replenish 99.9% of the original armor or weapon HP. Also give smugglers the ability to temporary additions to armor, clothing and weapons for a fee. Temporary is the key, so people keep spending the money to upgrade again, up to you guys to find a proper decay rate for everything

edited to prevent a lockout so I can continue typing:

Space Additions
Must I spell it out? JTL made this game great, and JTL is still great, however myself and the pilot community would love to see some changes made to the space game. I would like to see Freedom Station in Deep Space fixed so the Imperial Naval forces can begin bombarding it again. It has been like this for over a year and I think it is unfair since the rebels can destroy the Star Destroyer. I would also like to see capital ships added as a quest reward, but make them very hard to get so that we don't see too many. That would be a great addition to the game, including a star destroyer or rebel station for each guild (hah a guy can dream) Lambda shuttles, Rebel transports (already in game in NPC form) and many other new ships could be added. Add in a group hyperspace button, so the entire fleet can hyperspace to 1 place at the same time (LAG? hehe :smileyvery-happy

And...
Please for the love of Star Wars Galaxies, ADD CREATURE HANDLER BACK! I miss my pets so much, and it wouldn't be a giant pain to add our companions back in a new combat system. My suggestion? Please make the skills available to all persons, and how about release a patch dedicated to it? You could make the new Creature Handler a series of fun quests we could all enjoy. While I would prefer that I get master abilities back since I was a Master Creature Handler when you dropped the bomb on us back in November 2005, I would completely regrind it if I had to, just for my pets. Add new creatures, make them from different systems in Star Wars EU folklore Adding Creature Handler back cancels my EVE Online account.

I felt it to be traitorous and mutinous not to share these wonderful comments, I would love to see a lot of new people come to enjoy our game. Get cracking Soe, and please use some of my ideas, your playing fanbase is VERY important to the development of ideas for the game

What do you guys think? I think these changes would bring about MANY new players both old and new, and it would definetly help things progress forward a bit. Please, if you have positive comments or suggestions to add to mine, please by all means add them, I really put a lot of my personal opinion and belief behind these ideas. You 100% have the right to disagree with me, if you do lets just do it like adults and debate maturely

This is just an observation, but you seem to run SOE, specifically SWG like a cable or electrical company.  At the drop of a hat, they seem to be able to disconnect you from their service, but take forever to connect you again.

You seemed to be able to spring the NGE on us quickly and efficiently, but are taking forever to deliver on specific promises you made.

I think you set the standard pretty high by releasing the NGE so quickly that we, the players, have the expectation that you should be able to react just as quickly to any changes that are currently needed.  We don't seem to understand why things are taking so long.  I mean, a little bug fix is nothing compared to the complexity of the NGE.  Why are things taking so long?

we've lost some dev team members. A lot of new companies have sprung up in Austin and we lost some key people... new people take time to ramp up. Simple as that. NCsoft and others are losing people too. This is a competitive job market. Seriously competitive.

No "Secret Project".

We have two projects in Austin. SWG and DC Comics. They are totally different teams using completely different technology. That's all we're doing there. Nothing "Secret".

I dont post on these kind of threads too much, but I have a question Mr. Smeldy...well,actually 3...

1) Is there any chance ever that you will make a seperate "classic" set of servers for SWG that would be pre-CU,CU,or have a set for both? And if not...WHY I ask! Why?

2) Will you always have this "permanent" profession thing where the only way you can change is to use a cl1 reset kit or use any respec kits that you have (which you will eventually run out of)? I mean, this is a huge downer for me in this game...plus if you made a way to change profs better,it would solve your end-game content porblem for a while for most people..

3) Do you know if youll be introducing any more Melee profs besides Jedi? Like perhaps swordsman or fencer...or TKM! Any of them?

overzealous?  OVERZEALOUS?

You do realize that if you didn't post on here that this thread would have been locked well before page 5.

ALSO, it really pisses me off that moderators play favorites on the forums.  Myself and others I know cannot respectfully post about trades without threats of bans while others get a completely different treatment.  I can't believe the bullheaded mentality your moderators have.

OVERZEALOUS, you say.  ... that is the understatement of the year.   All the REAL feedback you probably rarely see as a result of these thread deletions

For the most part, the locks and deletions are right on. Unfortunately the reason for them being locked is that we have no "General Any SWG Topic" forum so that we can remain On-Topic .

Oh and don't send us to the GAT. Those guys are vicious when it comes to SWG topics.

I know this is a loaded question, but I think the community deserves an answer.  I know this is one of the things I've been upset about for a while.

Yes it's a loaded question, but I'll answer it. I think people that believe they are paying for a beta quit. Am I happy with the state of the game? No way. Do I think it's entertaining for a lot of people? Yes, or we wouldn't have subscribers. Is it good enough? Not yet.. no.

So no, I don't think people are paying for a beta. Again, I'm sure by the very nature of the question that you'll disagree.. but there it is.

I would like to respectfully disagree with you.  I myself am one of these people.  I know of many others that feel this way too.  If you don't believe me, do a poll on it.

ok. Maybe you're right. I think what you're saying is "I'm a loyal customer that thinks the game isn't in shape to where I should be paying". Is it entertaining you?

Let me address your point head on. - SWG never attracted the size audience that the Star Wars license delivered in the first place. One of those reasons was combat wasn't exciting enough. We have done enough research on the people who quit or people that didn't purchase the game to know this is a hard, brutal cold fact. Could we have gone a different direction with the combat? Yes. Could we in the future change this direction? Yes. Do I think we will? No. Why? Because I don't believe that this will be an issue if we solve the other half of the equation - making the professions feel different... and making the content really exciting. If we asked you all to rank Combat vs. the loss of professions, I'm betting the loss of professions will "win" every time... I don't think the new combat style is the main thing that people are bothered by. It's the broad strokes changes to the rest of the game. What we've done is to get the game to a much more basic level that we can build on. I submit to you that if we achieve our other goals, this style of combat won't be an issue. The fact is the data we have suggest that for the people that DO sign up for the game they like the combat. For the people that don't, combat isn't the main issue we're losing them.

Smed

Hmmmm, I've cancelled a full 50% of my accounts, and nobody has bothered to ask me why.  So let me address that here.  It IS the (sort of) FPS styled combat system that has driven me to cancel

See, I've tried FPS games, and don't like them.  When I bought this game, it wasn't FPS.  Then one day, suddenly, it was.  Not only was it, but it was obviously a rush job to production... being a programmer myself that sort of thing makes me cringe.  But you've already apologized for the latter, so I'll stick with the topic at hand.

I have no idea which select few people who have quit you've polled, but I certainly wasn't one of them.  And your assumption in my case is completely wrong.

I have one account left, and that's only because I haven't found a game that my stepson likes.  Once I do, this account will be cancelled too.  And given SOE's history of horrible decision making at the expense of the very people that pay for the games, I'm likely done with any SOE games altogether.

That, sir, is what your teams decisions have brought on, and I can only assume I'm not the only person who feels that way.

Mr Smed,

Thank you for taking the time out of your day to address the SWG community. It seems as though your post count on these board will more than double after today. If you think about that for a second that is kinda sad...

Anyway, that is not my point. You have stated in the past that SOE has never released an incomplete game.I would like to call u out on that statement. In many of your posts today you have brought up several aspects of this game that is clearly NOT complete. One can argue that a MMO is never really complete. But the BASIC gameplay SHOULD be complete. Would Love to see you comment on this.

Also about a month or so ago, SOE sent out the SWG email newsletter. In that newsletter they talked about the Publish 27 gift being available until March 15th.Later in that same newsletter they talked about the Publish 27 gift being available until Publish 28 went live. Using a little common sense one can put those two statements together and come to the comclusion that Publish 28 would be live on March 15th. It is past March 15th and Publish 28 is not even on the test center. My question is this...how can your people at SOE effectively communicate to us, when it is obvious that the internal communication really does not exist?

It was also stated somewhere that within 6 months we would see a complete and working SWG with an ongoing storyline (ie: Cries of Alderan).I am wondering what happened to this?

Last question for now....Why spend the money to send your devs out on a "road tour" when you already stated that you had to pull them off of the expansion development to "fix" the game? It just does not make ANY sense.

Again, thank you for your time and putting up with the abuse.
