Space Content:

Will we be seeing additional Space Content in the near future. The last time we have seen significant additions was with Rage of the Wookies (with the exception of the bugged YT-2400).

I think there is a significant demand to see additional space zones, capital ships, new loot, and mission/quests.

Pex success and the triumph of the Convergence has shown that Space, as an intergral part of the Star Wars Mythology, carries a significant amount of weight with the community. It is also one of the most unique aspects of all the current available MMORPG's.

Why did I respond on FOH and not here? I just happened to see that thread last night... simple as that. At some point I can only deny nonsensical rumors on so many websites before it just plain becomes frustrating to me. It's the old "when did you stop kicking your puppy" trap..

I've also asked the Lucasarts folks to comment on this which you should see today some time (not sure when or where exactly).

I also want to say - I'm happy to discuss things that need to be done to make SWG better. What I will not do is respond to "go back to pre-NGE" threads or "please make 1 pre-nge server" threads. I've commented on those before.

Smed

So Smed, hows the 6 month plan coming, you know the one you told us about when you released the NGE on us and said 'give us 6 months to get it all nice and purty' well hows that going?

This game has become an utter mess.  What kind of time line does the Devs foresee this game becoming Bug free.  With all the publish updates etc, the main issues still remain there. Poor game play, MOBS hidden in each other, not being able to target a single MOB because of line of sight issues.  JTL is still a great add on, how long do we have for that to be changed. I really wished you kept the original UI, made the changes around that, opposed to changing it to poor second choices.

City pack up... WIPE IT.. Let the new people that have come to SWG build there new cities. Why leave these big cities with no one in them. Wipe out the old accounts. Give SWG a new fresh look of opportunity..

Crafting in SWG has been the best I have seen, complex, but still the best. People didn't mind being Uncle OWEN the merchant because he could actually make a product that was better than someone else’s. That was a fantastic idea.  People built reputations in game, and people sought after their goods. WOW what a great idea. ITEM DECAY was another great idea, kept people busy, opposed to just burning up quests, where you got to EARN your ubber gear opposed to lame drops. Bring the power back to crafters.   The biggest thing I saw in a lot of people, some loved crafting more than exploring, like real life.  These are people that play the game too, opposed to adrenaline junky PvPers, you need em both, to enjoy the game.

Professions. The iconic style can work. I think it could have worked with the OLD CU but hey we will see where this goes. I am still a fan of PRE-CU, only because it was working and well it was the first. Most people do not like change, and not to mention the HOURS invested, ruined with a single publish.

The game in general to me has been dumbed down. This may have been the idea or perhaps not, but to me, it has become very simple to play. Fewer things to do while fighting opposed to
Marathonmouse clicking..

I do feel if you can fix the major issues quickly you may have less ticked off people, but seeing you go back and forth, like Player bounties etc is driving people mad, because the main issues are not being tackled. You are implementing stuff that you had taken out before and with each implementation you are creating more problems, opposed to fixing the original ones. Mind you that has been the course of things since PRE-CU, no one seemed to try and fix the CORE of the game, and it has always been bring out new things.

Users and Devs. MAN I cannot imagine what it would be like to be in the DEVS shoes, with hundreds and possibly thousands of users screaming down your throats, that I am not envious of.  It's too bad you cannot some how give your clients a formula/timeline on how you intend on fixing the game or just really implement new changes opposed to publish by publish.  This game is still a very good game deep down. It still has a lot of options for people to do and enjoy, that you should capitalize on, compared to other MMO’s out there.

Make the game harder, and I am not saying with less XP but that would help a little bit, but in terms of quests. Let’s have larger grouping back in the fray.  Anyhow that is all I have to say about this..

Let me address your point head on. - SWG never attracted the size audience that the Star Wars license delivered in the first place. One of those reasons was combat wasn't exciting enough. We have done enough research on the people who quit or people that didn't purchase the game to know this is a hard, brutal cold fact. Could we have gone a different direction with the combat? Yes. Could we in the future change this direction? Yes. Do I think we will? No. Why? Because I don't believe that this will be an issue if we solve the other half of the equation - making the professions feel different... and making the content really exciting. If we asked you all to rank Combat vs. the loss of professions, I'm betting the loss of professions will "win" every time... I don't think the new combat style is the main thing that people are bothered by. It's the broad strokes changes to the rest of the game. What we've done is to get the game to a much more basic level that we can build on. I submit to you that if we achieve our other goals, this style of combat won't be an issue. The fact is the data we have suggest that for the people that DO sign up for the game they like the combat. For the people that don't, combat isn't the main issue we're losing them.

Smed

Just a small point here. Games like WoW, are advertised everywhere, I see it in the newspapers, in magazines, on the net. When I first started playing SWG, it wasn't from an ad, it was from another game. Not even an MMO game. That leaves me to believe that you were asking your community to be your advertisers for free instead of actually getting out there and letting the world know you existed. If you had placed some of that extra funding into advertising SWG instead of constantly changing it, you might have had a larger player base, instead of what you have now...which is a lack of trust from your community, and even from the potential new players. You've created a galaxy that is filled with bitter people, and guess who your new players meet and talk to when they first log in? By failing your community, your failing your game, no matter how great it becomes. If we're going to save SWG, you really need to start by at least compromising with your customers. If you just worry about making the game the way YOU want it, then only the ones like YOU will play it. There really does need to be something for everyone. YOU may not want to be Uncle Owen, but maybe someone else does.

Ok this isn't one of the areas we've fallen down in. We've even had TV commercials, something that most MMO's (including WoW btw) haven't ever done. In fact we were the first until DDO did it on Sci-Fi Friday a few weeks back for the BSG finale.

Smed

I believe Ausoshi's point was the OLD game wasn't advertised well enough.  You have certainly advertised this game since the NGE.  But if the previous game (pre-CU) had been advertised more, you likely would have seen the subscriber numbers boost significantly.  All water under the bridge now.  Or is it over?  I can never remember.

Over 700 responses when I got here.  I am not gonig to read them all.   However I would like to point out to the OP that your freedom to speak does NOT come with a guarentee of an audience.

Further the freedom to speak is a right you may enjoy in public space and on your own website, in your own newspaper, on your own radio talk show etc.   This website belongs to SOE and they can and will censor any and all content as is their RIGHT to do so as they OWN it.

I am pleased to see however that SOE has allowed this post to remain but please folks remember we have the right to speak and with the internet we have the presses to speak with. (To coin a phrase from someone else in another world who was whining about freedom of the press is for those that own presses.  Back when printing presses were rather expensive )

No "Secret Project".

We have two projects in Austin. SWG and DC Comics. They are totally different teams using completely different technology. That's all we're doing there. Nothing "Secret".

I'll just chime in here with a thought since this thread has everyones ear..

dont know if this has been brought up yet but:
Please try to teach the new players about the JOYS OF USING VENDER SEARCH - not just what the city bazarr is but,  SEARCHING PLAYER VENDERS. and being able to compare prices  - I typically have to explane how it works to 10 people a week.

and also please try to refine the catagories - no one like always looking under MSC / GENERIC ITEM for everything under the twin suns.

Thanks much!!
(and if it's not to much to ask Mr Smedly - Please bring back TUSKIN LOOT DROPS) - my wife would again be happy in her romps at Ft Tuskin.  and when she's happy - I'm happy
