Regarding the finding of the holocrons... I started playing SWG in July and quit in september. I joined again yesterday and transfered some items from my old character to a friend. I deleted, created a new character and had the friend trade back to me. One of those items was a holocron. I did not know what it did when I traded it, but I figured it would be worth keeping. I used it and it said to master pistoller so that's what i'm doing. I don't remember how I got it though... Anyway what I am asking is if it is possible to obtain holocrons without grouping for extended periods of time. These missions that are spoken of above seem like they would take a guild or group to get done. I have neither and as you can tell I haven't much experiance in combat from my eariler days as an architect/artisan. Thank you very much
When you make Master Pistoleer you should be able to take at least one of the factional NPCs that drop holos, such as the Imperial Dark Troopers (they actually have white armor that makes them look buff) and Rebel Surface Marshalls. If you get some Creature Handler skills also, you can have a pretty good pet as a tank too. I don't have novice CH even, so my pet is a lowly level 10 beetle, but even that helps out by slowing an NPC down for a few seconds at least.
Also, when it comes to the Garm Bel Iblis mission, I know from experience that you can both get a holocron from his last mission (I got a Sith one a couple weeks ago) and that you can repeat the mission. The way I do it is to take the mission, kill off all the Imps, go back to the Coronet Capitol building, talk to the CorSec Agent NPC out front and tell him or her (it changes) that I want to work for them and they'll abort the Garm mission, then go back to Garm and take it again. Unfortunately, the last time I did the mission, I forgot to talk to the CorSec Agent, so now I can't get the mission any more either. Just make sure you talk to any other quest NPC and you'll be able to do the mission again (and again, and again...).
