On the one hand I'm happy since Jedi's are supposed to be powerful and able to maintain their own sabers.
On the other hand there are WAAAAAYYYYY too many Jedi in the game (far more then the devs or Lucas Arts intended) and far to many whiners in the profession for me to feel the need for your extra power is justified.
If Jedi were truly rare then I'd want you to have every advantage in the book and be able to take down anything. However since the system to get FS is so dumb and there are PA's with seven and eight Jedi and there are so many of you around I personally feel that since "Jedi" is no longer rare why should you have so many special benefits?
Table the arguments about things being too easy until after publish 7 hits and bounty hunters are tracking us down with their droids.
And as far as sabers + economy, that is a developer decision that was made a long time ago. That and everything else are being reviewed for the revamp.

You're very opinionated about a profession you've never played. I see that you are in the direct line of communication with Lucas Arts. I'm impressed. Your last runon sentence proves you've no clue about anything.
Ok so a jedi cant fail to repair his saber but I who spend a Mil credits for a gun I have to fail repair with a 99.99999999999 tool. I am really starting to understand that 99.9999999999999 means you fail that much of the time.. its the .0000000000001 you dont fail. COME ON give us the same thing jedi's have.. This is totally unfair!

You don't NEED a couple mil gun. A Jedi NEEDS a lightsaber. Your gun doesn't NEED looted components. A lightsaber DOES need looted components. There is not a comparison.

You don't NEED Pearls to make a Saber. You start with a Training saber just like we start off with a CDEF. We need to make money or LOOT a new weapon to advance ourselves. Just like you guys do.

There is still a need for sabers to eventually cycle out of the economy, so don't think we are ever going to have indestructible sabers (as far as I've been told).
Sabers shouldn't even BE part of the economy. LOL
Isn't that the whole problem right there?
No kidding... all these folks runnin around holding the pearls and crystals for ransom at outrageous prices sucks the last of the fun out of Jedi.

I didn't say it HAD to be pearls. That is akin to krayt tissues in a gun. But right now, crystals are even harder to find than pearls, and half the time they suck to boot. If crystals of varying semi-average quality could be easily found/created, then there wouldn't be a problem. But there is a problem because all sabers require VERY rare loot components. You can still get very nice guns for a moderate price. Jedi currently don't have that luxury.
Ilucide wrote: While I certainly believe this is a huge step in the right direction, a properly cared for saber should be able to last indefinately.
The question is, how should it work?
Personally, I believe that while there is a need to pull pearls/crystals from the economy, players should have sabers which will last them most of their jedi career.
A possibility might be this:
5th Gen sabers can be used in a new schematic that combines the saber itself and a pearl or crystal. This resets the condition to 1000/1000, just like any saber upgrade, and allows the blade to change color. The damage and speed is only changed to calculate the difference between the previous saber's 4th crystal/pearl and the new crystal/pearl used in the saber.
Example:
Bob the Jedi has been grinding away and manages to get his saber down to 163/175 condition attempting to wipe out the entire Rancor species. Now, Bob has an all pearl saber, a 1500 max damage, 1.0 speed beauty. The last pearl Bob used was 175 damage, -1.0 speed, -9 force power cost.
But Bob needs to refresh the mechanism in the saber, it's just too worn down. So Bob tosses the saber in his schematic, along with a new pearl that isn't quite as good. This one is only 160 damage, -0.8 speed, and -4 force cost. Bob is not given the choice of grips he had, and the blade color is changed to that of the new pearl. The new saber damage/speed/force cost is calculated with the difference between the old 4th pearl and the new pearl, so the saber loses 15 damage and gains 0.2 speed, and 5 force cost (the difference between the two pearls). Bob now has maintained his saber, taking a pearl out of the economy, it has not been of a fashion that requires Bob to spend 4 pearls in order to get a saber back to where it was.
Seems fair to me. The crystals/pearls burn out after a while, and need to be replaced, but the main part of the saber still remains.
Geez what a day i am having first i find out that my wookiee jedi is getting armor woot and then saber decay is reduced double wooot
Damn it feels good to be a wookiee jedi today
I am not a dark jedi. I am not a light Jedi I do not see the light or the dark, it is all blended into grey. Balance is the key, without it we would not be in harmony.
When we grey jedi get acknowledged then the real fight will start all of you upstarts will fall and balance will be restored.
While this is great news, I don't feel that removing critical failures from repairs = "Jedi will have the skill to maintain their saber." Sure it helps, but the word "Maintain" means (according to Merriam-Webster) "to keep in an existing state (as of repair, efficiency, or validity) : preserve from failure or decline <maintain machinery>"
I would suggest, if we are stuck with saber decay, that when a saber reaches 0/0, an option become available that allows a Jedi to disassemble the saber and retrieve the rare parts.
No sir, There are more way to lower the price of pearls.
What if jedi can extract 1 pearl every day from the ground near the krayt graveyard..
What if 1 out of the 50 crystals foraged will be a pearl..
What if you can run quest once a day which gives you a pearl as reward.
There are so many ways to lower the cost on pearls and crystals..
You mean logic to work? HA... thats a good one.
