The final word from two different CSRs is that the LD deathcount bug is working as intended.  We will get charged 2 deaths each time we die while going LD.  I'm not bitter tho /me pulls out the shotgun

I shuttled into a City and before my load screen was finished I had been slained by a turrent and counted as 2 deaths. I sent in a bug report and a ticket, reply Obviously they can't help and are looking into it. I have a screen shot of my combat log showing what happened I could post it but I don't know how.

My bug is as follows. So I found myself on Dathomir (helping out an Imperial Bounty Hunter as it happens - who says we can't all be friends). Riding back into town, I got knocked off my bike by a Nightsister. Getting up I had two of them on my tail. I dealt with one, but the other found a hole in my armour four times in a row (got to love the random number generator in this game) and I found myself death blowed. So I check my deathcount and it reads 'one'. It was late so I went to bed. Following day I log on and check my deathcount just to remind myself of the previous night's activity and low and behold it read 'zero'. Well I have been mightily fortunate. However, the problem now is that I have no confidence in deathcount what so ever. I have had deaths decay in the past and I believe that it is a matter of time before I get skill loss. I will not be allowing my deathcount to get to three deaths, but I doubt this will make any difference...

I think the LD "bug" or whatever started shortly after they implemented item decay.  For a while if you were on the verge of death, you could just log out and maybe avoi death...if you did, you escaped item decay, so woot.

Since most people didn't care about item decay THAT much, when they added a "second death" it wasn't widely discussed.  I noticed it (as it made the first death cause the normal 1% decay...and the second was "uninsured" and cause a 5% decay (thake THAT special 90% resist jedi-armor ) .  Sometimes when I went LD (frequently after just turning the game off in disgust following a death) I'd log back in, in the cloner, with two of those little item decay reports on screen.  So I think it was added to prevent people from skirting the decay system.

Now that the skill loss system is in play and because most LDs are (in my exp.) accidental, they may need to rethink it.  I'm sure their issue is that they don't wnat incapped Jedi logging out once incapped and praying to avoid a DB by the mob.

-------------------------------------------------------------- The point is, ladies and gentleman, is that "bots" -- for lack of a better word -- are good. Bots are right. Bots work. Bots clarify, cut through, and capture the essence of the SWG spirit. Bots, in all of their forms -- bots for crafting, for killing thugs, for buffing, healing -- have marked the upward surge of mankind and other races. And bots -- you mark my words -- will not only save SWG, but that other malfunctioning corporation called the Empire.

Anyone else experienced this problem?

Packet loss death -   /deathcount = 1
Packet loss death -   /deathcount = 2  (2 days later)

After 9 days from death 1 -  /deathcount = 2    (no other deaths incurred)

Haven't submitted a /bug report yet. Will do that this evening.  I'm just curious if anyone else has experienced the same thing.

I currently show 0 tracked deaths.  But here is my history....

Had 6 deaths, took a skill loss on the 6th one.

Thursday night 4 of the 6 deaths were a week old and should have decayed, died again on Thursday night so 7 deaths.

Checked death count Friday night shows 0 tracked deaths!

What is up with that?

ok here is how exacly this system is buged :

i had 2 tracked deaths, however this has been my 5th overall death ( been keeping track). then i died last night and lost a skill, i got lucky and lost lightsaber4 which trained back right away. however it has been 3rd track death.

now here is the bug in the system :     The system doesn't decay deaths. however the deathcount command does. meaning deathcount command is only counting some numbers which have no effect what so ever to anything. now i just had my 7th death. (overal that is) and according to this bug i will be losing a skill on my next death no matter what!!! no matter how long i wait, i will still lose a skill after my next death which will be my 8th overral.

please fix this issue with publish 7, this is something that cant wait til publish 9

Two questions...

1. Is DeathCount suppose to refresh to 0 every week?

2. Does it?

I have tested skill loss and /deathcount and haven't personally seen any problems, but there have been plenty of reports of the two not matching up, thus action is being taken to verify any possible problems.

So what will happen to the people who lost deaths and skills to these kind of bugs?

Im in the had two deaths tracked ,yet hours later it read 0.Ive never had more than 2 deaths ever tracked at one time. But one was about to go,which wouldve left me with 1 tracked death. However after checking 4 hrs later or so it read 0 deaths. And has stayed that way ever since.I have no clue what my overall death total have been but Id guess in the 4-6 range. Some of you die WAY to often lol.But Im 4/3/4/4 and if I lose a skill im gonna be HOT.

I was worried that this was the case.  thank you for confirming it Shu, even though i'm sorry you had to.  And here I must quote the illustroius Bill and Ted...   "Most Heinous".  Seriously Arjun, armed with this report you should be leaping down TH's throat for this.  The way the current system and the Knowledge base is worded, it leaves us to believe that if we drop clear out of and/or stay out of the skill loss zone entirely we will never have skill loss.  However what Shu just posted proves that the system does NOT operate in that manner.

If in fact the system is working "as intended" and i cant believe that it is.  you should revoke all tracked deaths off of your system and not mislead players with typically poor information and language.  With BH droids going active, if this issue isnt hotfixed or rectified you are going to have a whole ton of REALLY ANGRY people on your hands here Devs...

I just wanted to confirm this is the exact thing that happened to me.  I have never had a /deathcount higher than 3 (the supposed 'safe zone', but tonight I died my 6th overall death.  I got the message you have 3 tracked deaths, you have lost xxx skill.  (Got somewhat lucky that it was only Healing 1 the 20k box).

Now my concern is I'm like Shu - with six undecayed deaths.  I could get myself up to the point of a skill loss with every death.

I did log a ticket on it.  We'll see what happens...I'll try and keep everyone posted.
