The skill loss /deathcount system is being actively analyzed to root out any possible problems.  Just an FYI, they are hard at work double checking everything, more information to come.

I have tested skill loss and /deathcount and haven't personally seen any problems, but there have been plenty of reports of the two not matching up, thus action is being taken to verify any possible problems.

Thank you Master Arjun     (I like to roleplay)

Right now I believe that regardless of the amount of deaths that decay, the overall total is still being applied and counted against you regardless of were you stand with decayed deaths.  This is a big bug!

Many are trying to figure out and twist what is written with /deathcount and tracked deaths and overall deaths because of what is being reported and make it fit somehow fit with the new decay system.  I have seen half explanations why someone with 2 tracked deaths would get a skill loss.

For those of you trying to figure that part out, tell me what purpose the word "DECAY" means in this new system.  Your forgetting the whole premise of this new decay system, it's supposed to allow you to play your Jedi till you get in danger of a skill loss, then you play your main character for a few days/week till your deaths DECAY and there is no loss when you die.

Arjun is it possible to test our Jedi on a testserver like you do? It always sucks to find out you lose stuff/lives/xp with bugs and then get 10 automated respondses from a CSR before they finaly do something about it. And i think allot of Jedi wouldent mind helping you test several things like the hit chance test with sabers you asked for some time ago.

Yes skill loss and /deathcount do not match each other. Because skill loss is not working in tandem with death count. I had a total of 5 deaths over the course of the last 2 weeks as of this morning it was down to 2 deaths. I died about an hour ago and ended up losing a skill and bringing my deathcount up to 3.

This leads me to believe that while death decay is working, skill loss does not recognize death decay and is counting the deaths on it's own so while my /deathcount logged 2 deaths, my skill loss had logged 5 and with my death that happened today it's now up to 6 and it probably won't decay out.

I log each and every one of my deaths on a notepad, precisely because it's such a serious matter to not have a backup method of tracking.

It has not been a full week since my last death, but my /deathcount reports 0 tracked deaths.  =/

I'll have to take their word for it that after a week it really DOES decay, but for now...

START TRACKING YOUR OWN DEATHS.  This is far too important to not have a backup method.

Having beaten my views on this topic to death let me just add that several of us now have used the "/deathcount" command and received the message:

"You currently have 2 tracked deaths."

We then died and received the message:

"You currently have 3 tracked deaths.

You have lost [skill] due to death."

(And immediate use of the /deathcount command at that point will confirm that you have 3 tracked deaths).  The problem is that the Knowledge Base expressly says "DeathCount of less than or equal to 3 means No skill loss ever".  If the /deathcount command is tracking the 9122 "DeathCount", then that statement is just plain wrong.

Personally, I think the system is working "as intended," it's just that they are using "deathcount" to mean two different things (and I believe that was a legitimate error on their part, not a choice they made to confuse us).

So if the system is working as intended, where does the decay part fit in?  Why even have decayed deaths then if your going to lose skills anyways...something is wrong

Graf:

I did lose a skill on my sixth death--which completely fits within your theory that decay isn't working.  That said TeamXtreme didn't suffer a skill loss until his seventh death.

The CSR I was dealing explained to me that,  when I received my fourth death (and moved out of the 0-3 death "safety zone"), my first three deaths stopped decaying.  If I had received my fourth death more than a week after I received my first, then my first would have decayed normally.

With me though, that's not what happened.  With TeamXtreme, it went like this:

--he died three times (DeathCount = 3)

--then took a break of more than one week, which allowed his first death to decay (DeathCount =2).

--then he died his "fourth time" (DeathCount = 3)

--then his fifth time (DeathCount = 4 and NOW, at DC=4  the system starts counting for three deaths to see if you lose a skill, with this death his first relevant death)

--then he dies his sixth time (DeathCount = 5, with two relevant tracked deaths)

--and finally, he dies a seventh time (DeathCount =6, three elevant tracked deaths which means, as per 9122, he suffers a skill loss)

Do there was still a decay for him, but per the CSR's statement to me, once you cross the threshold into the 4-6 DeathCount, your first three deaths stop decaying.  Do they ever start decaying again?  I dunno.  The CSR didn't say.

Of course, it is also possble that TeamXtreme's having lost a skill on his seventh death, not sixth, is some sort of fluke...but it does jibe with what I was told.

Arjun we need a definitive response regarding the death issue.  The knowledge base is not telling us the whole story.  If we get 4 deaths, do the first three stop decaying?  If they do, then there is no reason to even bother with the so-called decay system unless it was designed to allow you to safely have 3 deaths without consequence.  Bear in mind that with the LD death bug, this only requires someone to be LD twice in a week's period and their jedi is worthless, imo.

My only problem is that it seems that if you go LD and die, and can't get back on before your charater times off of the server, you are hit with ANOTHER death when you log back on.

So after one death by true LD (cable node went out for 4 hours) I got hit for 2 deaths as I logged back on.  I heard about at least one other person this has happened to.

A CSR e-mailed me this morning, saying that the development team confirmed that my skill loss was a bug.  Shows what I know.
