Figured some of the new kids playing the game could find some of these useful, soo here we go...

(User Inferface) Did you know?

First the very basics for those that didn't read the manual (and I know you're out there!) Pressing the Alt button will enter "Mouse Mode" which turns that targeting recticle into a cursor to move freely around your screen.  Press it again to deactive Mouse Mode.

Ctrl F1 through Ctrl F6 will access your six different hotkey slots for the hotkey bar.

Also Ctrl F12 and Ctrl Tab will cycle forwards and backwards respectively through the hotkey bar.

Moving the mouse cursor to the border of the hotkey bar (or any window for that matter) will allow you to resize them.  You can shrink the hotkey bar horizontally to get rid of those spaces, and you can expand it vertically to add a second line of hotkeys.  Very useful!  Rather than using the normal F-key strokes, the second hotkey line uses the Shift + F-Keys.

By right clicking on the Menus bar in the bottom right corner, you can flip the bar vertical.

In mouse mode select one of the chat tabs (Spatial, GroupChat, Combat etc) and drag the tab somewhere on the screen.  Voila!  You now have a separate text window for the chosen tab.  Useful for monitoring chat and combat actions.

Want to take a screenshot?  Hit the Print Screen button on your keyboard.  Better yet, want to take a pretty screenshot without your cluttered user interface in the way?  Hit Ctrl + Shift + H to remove your hud and then take a screenshot, mmm pretty screens.

(Network Monitoring) Did you know?

Pressing Ctrl + Shift + G will open up a network monitoring box that displays your Ping, FPS, World Location, and some other nifty things.

For a condensed version that will just display Pings, FPS and Bandwidth do the following.  Open up the Options menu (Ctrl O) and go to the Misc tab, check the box that says Show Network Status Window, and there you go.

(Combat & Groups)  Did you know?

When in a group press Ctrl + 1 through 9 (or depending on how many group members there are) this will select that group member.  Useful if you need to heal someone fast or are trying to find the group leader.  Hint Hint, pressing Ctrl 2 will always select the Group Leader, assuming you're not the leader.

Pressing Ctrl Q will cycle through your group members. Pressing Tab will cycle through attackable targets Pressing Ctrl \ will initiate Peace Mode (disengaging from combat)

(Menu quickkeys) Did you know?

Ctrl A - Commands Browser Ctrl C - Character Sheet Ctrl D - Datapad Ctrl E - Ingame Mail Ctrl H - The Holocron Ctrl I - Inventory Ctrl O - Options Ctrl P - Community Ctrl S - Skill Trees Ctrl V - Planetary Map

(Misc) Did you know?

Ctrl M will activate your overhead map, useful for navigating cities.  Also if you have a scroll mouse, holding down Ctrl while "scrolling" up or down will zoom in and out of the overhead map.

(Jedi) Did you know?

Uhh eat your Wheaties and hope for the best?

Hehe, had to throw that in there, anyway this is long enough for now, I will post more later.  Enjoy!

(Artisans) Did you know?

You can craft while you sample? Just start Sampling and then open your General or other Crafting tool. This is best really for grinding or for making things that don't require experimentation.

(Artisans) Did you know?

You can have multiple Crafting tools crafting at once? Create a few General or other Crafting tools and have them work concurrently. One item in the Hopper from the first does not prevent you from starting the Crafting process on another.

(Scouts) Did you know?

You can set a macro for your specific Harvest needs for quick harvesting? Create a macro, give it an icon and assign "/harvest bone" (or Meat or Hide) to the function. Then drag it to your Quickbar. When you kill a mob, just hit the Macro. This saves alot of time.

(General Hunting) Did you know?

Did you know you don't need to stand there and take it from a mob if using a Ranged weapon? Kite it! Just run around and hit specials when you want. It takes longer this way, and you lose aim when you turn, but it's good if you can't survive an up-close-and-personal encounter.

This is where snare trap(s) come in handy. Just know that when you go to throw a Trap, you will stop running for a second, and the mob will catch up

If you get lost or are somehow separated from your group.

Ask them for their coords.

Type: /waypoint xxxx xxxx
Where xxxx xxxx are the numbers they say.

You'll add a waypoint at that exact location.

Nice to know about the waypoint command. I can run out of town 10 meters and get lost.

If you view the world map, you can find trainers, buildings, etc by selecting from the list on the right side of the map. When you highlight a name, a green X appears on the world map. RIght click on the X and you can set a waypoint and then activate it.

Never travel from or to a starport unless you're changing planets, other wise you'll pay too much.

/find will generate an easily followable line to a certain location.

Set waypoints for rare locations like rebel/imperial terminals and battlefields.

You can e-mail waypoints

With a little practice, you can go up slopes faster by aiming diagonally

You can do TWO delivery missions at the same time

In the EQ control scheme ESC clears your target and F1 targets yourself.

Yes these are using the default keymaps, sorry 'bout that.  Never liked the other maps anyway hehe.

Good thread idea!  Here's my contribution:

Artisans- Did you know that you can craft and survey while you're running?

I do it often.  Just keep one eye on your radar and don't stop.  If you stop while crafting, you'll have to wait until you're out of the crafting screens to start running again.

Artisans- Did you know that you can turn off those annoying "Are you Sure prompts?"

It's on the control panel, I just can't remember which tab.

Artisans- Did you know that you can put your crafting tools on the hotkey bars?

Just drag them from your inventory to the bar, like you would a weapon.  Click on them and you'll get the crafting window.  If you look really, really closely at the tiny little icons, you'll notice it even displays the countdown numbers.

(Line Commands & Macro's) "Did you know?"

That typing // (double slash) in the chat bar will list all available /commands.  It's a very long list and I recommend using the Chat Log to capture it, which leads me to the next tip.

To activate the Chat Log type /log this will capture incoming text in the active chat window and place it in the .txt file in your StarWarsGalaxies main directory.  Type /log again to deactivate chat logging.

Use the /pause command to create macro's with a time delay in between macro commands.  The syntax for the command is /pause <seconds>;
Example:
/stand;
/pause 5;
/sit;

This will make you stand up (if you're sitting that is) then pause for 5 seconds and then sit.  Note it's important you end each command line with a semi-colon or the macro will not work.

If you're too lazy to type out /tell or /reply to tell or reply to a tell you can always type /t or /r or Ctrl T and Ctrl R to perform the respected tells and replies.

Type /addfriend <name> to add someone to your friends list.  You can also do this through the Community menu under the Friends tab.

Pop quiz:  How did Boba Fett get his uninsured gear back after being swallowed by the Sarlaac?  He used the /corpse command of course!  If you're within 10 meters of your corpse use the /corpse command to teleport it to your location.  Usefull if it's in a hard to reach spot.

You can also have a friend pick up your corpse by using the /consent <name> command.  This will allow the named player access to loot your corpse (and hopefully give you your stuff back).  You can use /unconsent to bring up a list of people whom you have given consent to, highlight the name and remove them.

Here's an oldie but goodie.  Use /tip <amount> <player> to give someone money you have in your inventory.  Use /tip <amount> <player> bank to give them money directly from your bank (at a 5% surcharge to you).  You can shorten the command by just selecting the player and using /tip <amount>.  There is no distance limitations to tipping.  Tip someone on another planet if you want.  You can also tip players while they are offline.

Keep the game tips coming, there's not enough of them on these boards!

For you new players, I can't believe I missed one of the most basic tips.  Hit the numlock key to toggle the autorun.  Probably the single most used key on those long travels (until vehicles come out hehe).

It took me a few weeks into Beta to figure that one out.

Your tips are great!  Keep 'em coming.

Did you know that /consent works differntly now?

Last night a friend did /consent nanaonik from cloning facility (reclaim heheh) and I was _NOT_able to loot, but far better than that... I was able to put the /crpse command on my tooolbar and drag his corpse across 1/16 of the map, all the way to him so he can loot it. Now thats FAR MUCH BETTER than "Duhhh was this avian bone mine or yours???... Ooops how much did you have? I think they merged into one container".

No grudges -- true friends!

Scouts-Did you know?

You can sample in your camp?  This is a great way to earn survey xp and survival xp at the same time!  Just find the best spot by surveying then set up your camp and start sampling.  Did this and got tons of xp for surveying, was able to regenerate my action and mind quicker, and got about 600 xp for survival.
