Un-frigging-believable!! Sultrina, you have completely changed the game for me. I can't even begin to explain how this thread has changed my opinion of dancing..../speechless

Please, please, for the love of god, don't stop with the lessons. I don't care about mastering any more. I just want to be good at what I can already do.

Sultrina, /bow.

You have done a wonderful job with this guide.  After reading all the way through it, I am thoroughly impressed.  I never knew the Dancer profession to be so deep in possibility.  Very well done.

FWIW, as a Community Veteran you are able to 'edit' your old messages by choosing the Options area of your previous messages.  You can use this to edit your Dance School posts if you find things you want to correct.

Once again, thank you!  I would look forward to reading your Advanced guides...

Very well, sultrina.  Being a bit shy (yes, as a dancer, believe it or not) about showing off "unpolished" routines, I normally go to the upper level of the Keren medical center to mark off my routine. (to avoid drift).  Again, using the tiles, I can perfect the timing.  I normally save the routine once I'm satisfied with it (read: macro the timing).  Then, I'm ready to bring it to the public.

Wow, I can't believe I've never really read this thread before! I made a few routines myself, but the timing was always off using the macro...this was wonderful information! Thank you very much Sultrina.

I dance in the game like Grumpy fishes. It's what i do for pocket change and to entertain myself while I'm waiting for people. I usually get bored with typing in /florish 1 or 3 over and over... I now see the possability that i can sqeeze a whole lot more out of my Novice Dancer! Thanks!

Sorry no new material yet, but I cleaned up the guide so it is easier to find all the lessons and fixed some glaring format and typo problems. Enjoy!

Everybody can learn new tricks and refine old ones.  I have the honour now of taking lessons with the master herself on Bria....and its suprising how even someone with considerable experience can still learn much from her.

Wow. Sultrina are you still here? I got bored at work so I was flipping around the forums.  I've been away from the game a while, but I recently reactivated. Unfortunately Fingers has migrated to the Flurry server, but still keeps his mandoviol around. Harder and harder for a swordsman/smuggler/pistoleer/musician these days I hooked up with a couple of folks from Hidden Rebel Bass for a while, but I haven't ever found a band quite like Deep Funk. I miss those Beta days....

I do have a guy on Bria, Vaene Casae, so I'll try to find you though. For all those out there, Sultrina was, and I can only assume, continues to be, one of the premier dancers in the galaxies. Pay attention to her all you prospective dancers!

Yes I'm still around and still "just a dancer" I would love to get together with you! I sure wish Deep Funk was still on Bria I could use some of the old magic

Droids with play back modules
YOU MUST BE AT LEAST NOVICE MUSICIAN OR THE PLAYBACK OPTION WILL NOT APEAR ON YOUR RADIAL!

1. Put the droid in your group (not critical now but during playback you’ll need it in group just like any other musician if you want people to hear it when they /watch or /listen to you).
2. Select the instrument you want to be on the recording and put it in YOUR hand DON”T start playing yet.
3. On the droid radial select “Access playback module” and then select the “Track #” you want the recording to be stored in.
4. Now select “Record/Play” You will see the system message “Your droid is ready to start recording your music”
5. Now start to play the song you want the droid to learn with the instrument you selected and you will see a system message “Your droid has started recording your music”
6. Keep playing for a few seconds, you don’t have to flourish, but you can if you like flourishes will not be recorded only the base music. When you see the message. “Your droid has successfully recorded your music” you’re all done stop playing music and prepare to have some fun.
7. Ok now if you select the “track’ you just recorded and click “record/playback” your droid will start playing the song you recorded with the instrument you recorded the track with.
8. Now you can either play the same instrument or any other in your arsenal and your droid will play along with you. He will respond to /bandflourish and /bandflourish <instrument name>. So if you recorded his track with a Fizz you can /bandfloruish 1-8 fizz and only he (and any other fizzes in your band) will flourish. Someone already pointed out that if you /bandflourish off then your droid will respond to /bandflourish and your musician won’t

Ok so there you have it for the most part your new droid when part of the group will act exactly like any other human member of your group. Now for the fine print.

You CAN start playback and then start dancing and you will hear your new jukebox play music YEAH! If a customer comes in and /watches you he wont here the music though BOO! There has to be another human in group playing music so they can /listen. That person doesn’t have to be you though so that is a neat thing your droid can join the band and you can dance.

You CAN have someone record an instrument you can not play and use the droid to have that instrument in your song. Simply hand them the droid and let them record the song/instrument combos you want and have them return it to you.

You CAN have someone record a song you don’t know into the droid and play it back that’s neat but you can’t play the song so you can’t play along with it and if you read the first piece of fine print above you already know what that means.

If you /changeband the droid will follow the change just fine provided he knows the song. If he doesn’t know the song he will stop playing. The bad news comes when you switch to a song he does know he will start playing again, but won’t flourish. To get out of this stop and start your droid or the whole band your choice.

When you use /startband with your droid out in group or not sometimes the person who did /startband will receive no exp. fiddling around with stopping and starting seemed to get around this eventually don’t have full details yet.

Your droid DOES burn action when it flourishes making the poor mouse droid w tested a POOR choice because it only has 40 action and was begging for mercy soon after we started.

The only droid I know of that has 6 slots for modules is an r3 droid and 6 playback modules is all you’re allowed far as I know. I do recommend going with 5 playback modules and 10 units of storage if your already cramped for inventory space as then your droid can carry all your instruments for you and you will want them all now that you can use the droid for an extra band member. GO Rodie bot GO!

All in all I give the playback droids the Sultrina seal of approval BRAVO devs.

Droids with effects modules
YOU MUST BE A DANCER OR MUSICIAN FOR THIS TYPE OF MUDULE TO WORK FOR YOU!

1. Call your droid and give it a good charge with batteries
2. Open the radial and chose Configure effects (this may read toggle effects on/off in which case it’s a sub menu under that just hover your mouse over it)
3. Now you have 10 slots chose the firs one and click “ok”
4. Now pick the “foam” effect and click “ok”
5. Now type 15 sec for the delay then click “ok”
6. Now repeat the above steps giving each of the 6 effects a 15 sec delay
7. Now for a little fun for the last 4 slots select “Foam”, “Fog”, “Confetti” and “Avian” and give each a 3 second delay
8. Now click Toggle Effects on/off and watch the show

You will note that your droid give you a demonstration of each effect in turn and then after you see the birds fly off it REALLY puts on a show giving you 4 effects going off almost at the same time! This is because each effect seems to last for about 15 sec. You can set a delay of 3 to 60 seconds and this is the delay before the NEXT slot starts its effect. So by using 15 for the first 6 they pretty much run right into each other. The last four each start 3 seconds after each other so they run at the same time sort of. By playing with the delay you can get all kinds of shows out of this little droid.

This droid also wins the Sultrina seal of approval if a few changes are made.
1. We need to be able to have longer then 60 second delay I would think 15 min as a max to be a better choice but we need at least 5 min to truly enjoy this droid.
2. We need to be able to target the effects on other members of our group or at least ourselves.
3. We need to be able to trigger on/off and individual effects via slash commands.
4. Entertainers need access to this droid as well as the playback droid.

Greetings,

I'm very anxious to see this "Dancing Jawa" module used. However, my 3PO unit doesn't give any options in the radial menu other than the typical Examine, Droid Options, and Program.

What am I missing?

Dancing Jawa is AWESOME. We laughed till we spewed Pepsi out our noses. These droids are the best thing to happen to Dancer...well...EVER. And I would totally HATE it & it would SUCK if plain Entertainers got to use them. Elite professions...ELITE.

Hi Sultrina
I have been a master dancer since August...but with all the changes of late, I seem to have missed something.  Sometimes my buffs work for 2+hours at dbl mind..sometimes they stop at 1 hr 35mins....I still use the 'flourish like crazy' macro...not sure if I should..but I get so many tells and I interact so much that I find it necessary to run a macro.  I just really need to know if I have missed a buffing update or if they buffs are just buggy lately.  I don't want someone to tip me anything and walk away not fully buffed.  So anything you can tell me to straighten me out would be greatly appreciated

Well it's been buggy...  that last patch or something put something out of whack more then normal. You now can't get music and dance buffs at the same time.(it messes one or both of them up) I've had a few times recently where before it's supposed to end. It ends.(like after 45 minutes but when they got the buff it said the 2 hours) My Music buffs have been EXTREMELY buggy. I can't tell you how many times I've had to buff someone twice for them to get it.

Ok then I let you know that it is still useful
I recently switched professions and I have picked up Dancer (well actually not Dancer yet..) mainly because the videos I saw from Javier and Windspire Entertainment amazed me!!
I was always attracted by Entertainment but I did not make the 'big step in the right direction' until now.

Your guide will definitely help me, I already learned a few things just by reading (I'm at work now argh ).
Thanks a lot, your experience in this matter is very useful and well explained

edit: found it, the second actor in video making that amazed me too was from Windspire Entertainment

I really am a newbie dancer, and these lessons are awesome; if I hadn't read these I might not have even chosen to be a dancer, and I certainly wouldn't know where to start with my character, either.  Now I feel confident going into the game and getting everything set up and ready to go, and I know where to start with learning how to dance and entertain others.  Thank you so much!
