Enough ranting and debating...we NEED a revamp, and before publish 11..where now some say the combat changes will finally take place (since devs are focusing on jedi next 2 publishes or so)
We need a fully fledged revamp as much as the ones currently being revamped (Smuggler to name one), and we're most likely never going to get unless we keep trying to petition or whatever to get the Dev's attention (in a NON-Negative way of course...after all that has happened).
We don't need "fixes" like what they did to the HAR in publish 7, a pathetic accomplishment to help improve our proffession (and equally "enhance" our HAR!). We need fully fledged revamps, new tree(s) added in, our mods worked out, new specials, and if we can..the highly sought after Assault Rifle/Repeating Rifle that we all desperately want as a primary weapon (rather than a Flamer..which is un-star warsy).
It all boils down to star wars...we want to play in Star Wars..hence why we play the game, we want to have fun, and thus..we want to actually have a (1) Combat Role Defined and (2) Our proffession Utilizing that combat role to its fullest extent. We have now waited over 8 months, and compared to other proffessions (excluding ones who were pretty decently working at/around time of launch) we have recieved VERY few fixes..and even then..these fixes were not full fledge to improve our Proffession..and many times they were just tacked on (like just putting +25 ranged/melee def mods on Master...yea thats nice, but thats not an incentive to master the prof...as its easier to master TKM/Flame IV..which for 14 more sp, you get nearly triple the defense, some special defenses, and counters while retaining the only true working weapon in the commando arsenal. Most other elite profs have skills/specials that reflect the ENTIRE proffession...LP, all the Hvy Weapons save for RL are NOT represented in this..and these are also very important to our proffession. (also take our LC..has an appalling +40 accuracy/speed) And lastly...we practically get nothing reflected in our proffession from ANY of the pre-reqs...cept just penalities (in the case with melee To-Hit)
As a community, we have been patiently waiting..and waiting..and waiting...and at least before the Space Expansion - we NEED a revamp. And whats the best thing? Encourage communication between the devs..get the devs discussing with us how a revamp can work-on these forums...and also tell us their ideas on our proffession. Of Which, they have not attempted to do so..since...actually..i can't even remember the last time. But i do remember the promises made that we were getting significant changes in Pub 7&8..all I see are mod fixes (which most likely couldve been done in a hotfix) some title changes (essentially the ONLY thing ive seen thus far that was based on community feedback..thanks to our corspd.)...and indoor use of hvy weapons/gernades..which shouldve NEVER been restricted. So far..but due to Dev silence..we have no idea whats in store-while other proffessions do, or we have no idea what constructive ideas the devs are using from our frequent posts/debates on these forums (if any).
Most likely..they may keep this silence still..and continue ignoring..but it cannot be detrimental for us to at least try and make this revamp possible - something that nearly everyone commando wants. We are done debating, we are done repeating the same things that need to be done (ie HAR/FT Merger) that have been circulating hundreds of times since the beginning of the game...what we need..is Action.
