Avatar

•  Improved avatar sitting in chair and after 5 minutes sliding forward and being left floating in the air

Bazaar/Vendor

•  Fixed problem with item getting deleted after retrieving item from vendor

Client Stability

•  Chat saving protocols have been optimized on the client. (For those that are curious, we throttled excessive disk io in the UI saving code and limited the amount of back scroll text that is saved to the uis. This should help out with client lag and make larger uis files considerably smaller.)

•  Fixed a Crash To Desktop when using the /ttell command without having an active target.

•  Fixed a Crash-to-Desktop when using the "Disconnect" button in-game.

Crafting

•  Berserker Rifle Stabilization components now drop with serial numbers.

•  Existing Berserker Rifle Stabilization components should now have serial numbers as well.

•  Hide and Organic symbols have been changed.

Events

•  Wookiee Life Day has been disabled for US and European servers

GCW

•  Faction backpacks are no longer auto-unequipped

Inventory

•  Added checkboxes to force sorting the player's datapad and inventory contents. When run the first time, these values should default to "on". The toggles are located under the options/interface UI. Turning them off will give the behavior that occurred before the auto-sorting feature was introduced.

•  Fixed problem with items looted from a corpse disappearing after crossing server boundary

•  Fixed a problem with items disappearing after picking items up from a house and crossing server boundary

•  Faction backpacks should no longer disappear when traveling or logging out. Faction backpacks will no longer be auto-unequipped. Note: other faction items may auto-unequip and can sometimes overload your inventory. If this happens, you will not be able to move. You will need to move items out of your inventory into an equipped backpack, bank, house, get help from a friend, etc., or delete items as needed until the inventory count is within limits.

Loot

•  "Recyclers" have been added to the game. There are 5 types of recyclers: Flora, Creature, Metal, Chemical and Ore.

Space Missions

•  Star Destroyer now drops 10-20k credits in deep space

•  Rebel space station now drops 10-20k credits in deep space

•  The prison ship in the rebel tier 4 recovery duty "Rescue prisoners from the Empire" will no longer exit the Dathomir region early.

Space UI

•  Added light gray directional indicators that display a gunner's target to the pilot of a ship with turrets. In a multi-passenger ship when a player mans a turret, when the gunner cycles through targets, the pilot should see a light gray arrow that indicates the direction of the gunner's target. Please note that this should only appear when the target is off screen (similar to the standard target arrow) and that if the gunner and the pilot have the same thing targeted, then the target will only be indicated by the player's blue arrow.

Tutorial / New User Experience

•  The tutorial voice over will play once again.

Structures

•  All Housing item limits have been changed. This will mean that small houses can now store 100 items for a Naboo small house, and 200 for the the other small and medium houses. Large houses and Guild Halls can now store 400 items each instead of being limited to 250 items each

•  Large houses should now take up 5 lots instead of 6. In order to get the lot limits redeemed please put maintenance into the house and it will credit you the remaining lots.

•  Guild halls should now take up 5 lots instead of 7. In order to get the lot limits redeemed please put maintenance into the house and it will credit you the remaining lots.

•  Fix problem where a factory will stop producing items for no apparent reason, even though the factory has sufficient maintenance, power, ingredients, and the output hopper is not full.

•  Fixed a problem that can cause items dropped into a structure to disappear after you leave the structure and re-enter the structure later.

•  Fixed when you are too far from a structure to /name, /paymaint you get a message "You are too far from the terminal to purchase a ticket."

•  Factory owners are now notified with an appropriate message via system message and mail when the factory stops making items because the output hopper is full.

Profession Smuggler

•  Smugglers no longer have an artificial faction point cap when buying faction points. The cap is their actual point cap. Signing up with the faction will make a larger bribery option available, and rising in ranks will increase the cap as per normal factional progression.

Profession Combat Medic, Doctors and Medics

•  The total amount of time delay between Medic wound healing has been reduced to a third of the original delay.

Profession Entertainer / Dancer / Musician

•  It now takes a quarter of the time it used to take to heal Mind/Focus/Willpower wounds.

All Professions

•  Removed all apprentice XP requirements from all professions

•  Decreased Incapacitation Time by 50%

UI

•  The radial menu options to invite someone to your group has been increased from 32m to a max distance of 90 meters.

•  An option to display faction rank has been added to the Community - Character UI page. When enabled, the faction rank will be displayed above your character (just below the character name).

•  All skills with three line names now appear correctly in skills window

•  Radial Menus on installations (factories and harvesters) will be accessible up to approximately 20m from the outer edge of the installation.

•  Sneak Peak: We have developed two new interfaces that we think are easier to use. New Star Wars Galaxies TEST and New MMORPG (EQ2 syle) TEST operate without using the Alt key. We have a sneak peak of these interfaces that are still under construction in this release. Remember these are marked TEST because they are still being refined and subject to change.

Spawn

•  Increased spawn for krayt dragons again

•  We have added some new static spawns to Tatooine, Talus and Rori. Static means the spawn is not spawned by players or missions and the spawn area will respawn on it's own. Get that hunting gear on and head out to find the new groups of NPCs that roam the galaxies.

Profession Artisan

Server Stability

•  Improved client stability

•  Fixed a problem players were experiencing with a rubberbanding effect.

•  Streamlined the terrain system to improve client performance

Chat

•  Added a "CNTRL + R" command for replying to "/tells". Reply currently has the issue of replying to the last person that sent you a message. So, if you /reply to someone and you receive a message in the middle of the response, your private message is sent to another player. This is now fixed by changing CNTRL+R to send a "tell" the player who sent you the last message at the time you hit CNTRL+R.

Japanese Localizations

•  /log will now save Japanese chat correctly

•  Chat messages can be in Japanese in macros!

•  IME candidate window now appears relative to the text being typed

February 24, 2005

In this publish we bring you major changes to Star Wars Galaxies.  These changes are listed below:

Galactic Civil War (GCW) and Temporary Enemy Flags (TEF)

The Galactic Civil War (GCW) will be heating up as players fight for control of the planets. The system is broken into two major components. The introduction of an improved flagging system for factionally aligned players (redesign of "Temporary Enemy Flags" - TEFs: they no longer make players vulnerable to PVP without declaring faction) and the introduction of a GCW tracking system that allows players to battle over planets and win control of cities for their faction.

Group Friendly Looting

Group Looting in Star Wars is a variety of methods for how players in Star Wars Galaxies can distribute loot.   These systems will allow the group leader to determine what type of looting system his group will use.

Player Event Perks

Every week there are a many player-run events held across the galaxy. These events can be anything from PvP tourneys and role-playing events to murder mysteries or dance parties. To help players more easily run these events, the Event Team has been working on some special tools and perks.

Publish 14.0
March 9, 2005

In this publish we bring to you tweaks and fixes for the GCW, some more UI loving and a new story Arc! Read on for more details.

Quests

Today begins the first part of a new epic quest series called "Secrets of the Syren"! Who is the pilot that everyone is searching for? What was the dangerous cargo he was carrying that both Imperials and Rebels want so desperately? Rebels should report immediately to the Tyrena Cantina, Imperials to the Bestine Cantina and Neutrals to the Theed Cantina!

GCW

•  Increased the difficulty of higher level faction base spawns. (Now that the rebel and imperial faction bases spawned entity difficulty and numbers have recently been brought into balance with each other, the difficulty of the spawns at bases higher than the forward operating bases are being increased)

•  PvE (non SF) faction bases can no longer have control terminal menu options for resetting their vulnerability timer (which shouldn't have been there anyhow, since PvE bases are always supposed to be vulnerable), nor can you shut them down to abort a self-destruct countdown, once started (which better fits the non-PvP nature of these bases).

•  Added hacked terminal and base destruction alarms to factional bases

•  Added exterior reinforcement spawner to hacked factional bases

•  Decreased point cost of faction turrets

•  Decreased point cost of the factional forward operating bases

•  Increased GCW point value of factional bases for all bases higher than Forward Operating Base

•  Slightly increased cost of Tactical Center to bring it in line with the increased toughness of its spawns

•  Fixed an issue where Imperial guards were spawning and entering Moenian cantinas

•  Fixed rank display in recruiter conversations

•  News terminals will now always open the news headlines when you double click on them

•  Fixed several bad faction base objective-terminal spawn locations and orientations

•  Fixed terminals only working if you were special forces

•  Added roving security personnel to hacked factional bases

•  Fixed a bug where objects could block players from entering factional bases

•  Changed how GCW faction perk costs are changed based on GCW status. There was a bug that caused items to get cheaper as you started to lose. This was incorrect and backwards. If you are losing, items get more expensive on that planet.

AI

•  Fixed a bug where AI would warp when moving towards a destination (such as fleeing, etc.)

UI

•  There are 4 new key bindings that are not mapped to any key-binding at this time.  When bound, they should filter out friends and enemies in a previous next manner

•  Player movement should now feel "snappier" (run, walk and turn rates have been accelerated)

•  Hovering over a blip on the radar will display tooltip information about the blip.

•  Fixed an issue where the buff window would reset when a player logged out or relogged.

•  Planetmap should honor the show all cities flag.

•  Fixed an issue where players could not run through streetlamps

•  If the quest journal is open when a task or quest completes, it will now update correctly.

•  Duplicate journal entries will only be displayed once. (e.g. Darn Droid listed a speak task 3 times before).

•  Destroy, loot, and timer tasks will have a progress counter in the journal. (e.g.. "Killed: 2/10" will show in the journal description for a kill 10 worrts task).

•  Tooltips on the radar will now display instantly
The waypoint window in the datapad window will no longer overlap the checkboxes in the detail view

•  Radar opacity should ignore UI opacity setting

•  Fixed a problem where some Mayors cannot send ingame emails to citizens

Player Event Perks

•  Changed faction perk gating to fix coverts not being able to wear armor

Vet Rewards

Galaxy-wide Vendor Search is here!

Have you ever wanted to search for an item to buy without having to travel across the entire planet randomly checking vendors? Well now you can!  We have enhanced the functionality of our bazaar terminals to include the ability to search all player vendors for items you may be looking for. This new feature will greatly improve how vendors are handled in the game. Read on for more information.

Overview
The purpose of vendor search function is to allow vendor owned items to be searched from anywhere in the galaxy.  This will include the following functions:

•  Each vendor owner can decide whether to allow his or her vendors to be searchable in the market.  There is an option for vendor owners to turn on/off the search option on his or her vendor.  The vendor owner will be able to find current search option settings for each of his or her vendor(s)

•  When a vendor owner turns on the search option, a player should be able to go to any bazaar and list all items owned by this vendor

•  When a vendor owner turns off the search option, the vendor is no longer listed in the galaxy-wide network search. With this search option turned off, vendor owners have the ability to conduct private auctions. Players will need to physically go to the vendor and click "Use Vendor" to list items from this vendor.

Vendor Status
For all the existing vendors, the default option is set to no.  Players have to go to their vendors and enable this search option.  For all future vendors, this option is set to yes by default. For vendor owners to check if the search option is on or off do the following:

•  Select the Vendor you wish to turn search on/off for

•  From the radial menu choose "Vendor Control"
Once you have selected "Vendor Control" then choose "Status"

•  A pop-up window will show if the search option is on or off

PA Hall Leadership Succession

Overview
In the current live environment, a PA does not automatically handle the case where a PA leader has retired from the game. This condition results in leaderless PAs, often with active members who wish to continue to run the guild. In order to resolve this system, we will implement an automated PA succession system.

Allegiance
The existing "Allegiance" system interface will be removed. Instead, guild leaders will be able to turn on voting at any time. Every two weeks, the votes will be tallied and a new guild leader selected. This is to allow guilds the option of a democratic process. Not all guilds will want to enable this option. Guild leader voting will default to off.

PA Hall Leadership Succession
There are now two methods for PA Hall Leadership Succession: direct leadership transfer and leader elections as explained below.

Direct Transfer
Direct leadership transfer is executed by the current PA leader at the PA management terminal. The leader would select the "Transfer PA Leadership" option at the terminal. They are then prompted to enter the name of the person who will receive leadership. This person must be online and be standing near the terminal. The person who will receive leadership must also have enough lots free to take ownership of the PA hall. If they satisfy the requirements, the PA leadership and the PA hall ownership will be transferred to them. If they do not satisfy the requirements, the existing leader will receive a message as to why the change could not be made. Trial accounts are not eligible for leadership or PA hall ownership.

Elections
During the regular weekly PA maintenance, the system will examine the last login time of the PA leader. If they have not logged in for one month, the system will send an email warning to the PA members. The warning will explain that the leader has not been active and that a voting process for a new leader has been opened.

The voting process will use the same interface as player city voting. Three options will become available on the guild management terminal during voting:

•  Register / Unregister - Any full PA member may run for election. They would select this option to add themselves to the ballot. Only members on the ballot are eligible for election. Any guild member in normal standing can register to run. Sponsored applicants will not be eligible to run.

•  Cast Vote - This option allows a member to select who they wish to vote for. They may also choose to abstain. A member may change their vote at any time

•  View Standings - allows the player to look at who is currently registered and how many votes they have received.

Exactly two weeks after the election is started, the votes will be tallied. The individual with the most votes will become leader of the PA.

In many cases, the owner of a PA hall and the PA leader will be different characters. In order to prevent a PA from losing a PA hall due to the absence of the hall owner, PA leaders now have a limited ability to claim PA halls they do not own. A new guild terminal option "Accept PA Hall" will appear (for guild leader) if the hall owner has not logged in for 28 days. Once the guild leader owns the hall, the structure may be transferred to another player using the /transferStructure command.

•  Story Arc: Secrets of the Syren, Chapter two; More Than You Bargained For

•  Breaking News: Information has been received regarding the missing freighter pilot from Naboo. While this information has not been made public, a Rebel Officer in Tyrena as well as an Imperial Officer in Bestine and a private citizen in Theed have all been seen in talks with the various parties involved in the search. This raises the question of the seriousness of this situation. Parties involved in the initial search for this pilot are encouraged to talk to their initial contact.

•  Quest: Enough!

•  From the journal of a holonews reporter: Looks like the fighting was rather rough in Corellia space today.  I had the opportunity to actually see some of the fighting.  I could kick myself for not bringing my holo-recorder! It appeared to end in a draw, but of course I can't actually report that!  Interestingly, two ships crashed: one on Talus and the other on Corellia.  Sources tell me that an Imperial officer named Ceth Laike at the Imperial Outpost in Talus is looking for the pilot of one of these ships. A Rebel named Acun Solari in Tyrena is looking for the other.  I hope they didn't land in bad spots.  Sometimes the local gangs salvage parts off of downed ships

•  Quest: Imperial Defector

•  ### $!   Encrypted transmission from Jom Irimore, Rebel Alliance cell member in Tyrena to Teslo Ten'doora at the base.  Sir, I have a new contact.  Another member of the Imperial Military (a high-ranking one, I might add) is going to supply us with information.  I'll send someone to bring him to you as soon as possible.  I trust in this officer's defection.  Apparently, his entire family was on Alderaan. End transmission ^#)%)()(@!#^###

•  Quest: Rebel Informant
Memo
To: Lt. Allard Lissara
From:  Jaek Vercet, Imperial Representative to Moenia

You were correct, sir.  Those rebels are starting to cave.  One of them came to me, telling me about a rift in the Alliance's leadership.  He's willing to give us information if we offer him immunity for his treason.  I leave that decision to you.  I'm laying low in one of the buildings in town and will need to send someone to bring the Rebel to you.

Combat Upgrade April 27th, 2005

Things to know about the Character Respec Process

Jedi and The Force Ranking System (FRS)

•  In order for Jedi players to be able to respec along with the other Combat Professions, we are going to have to turn off the Force Ranking System. Without going into too much detail, the FRS is a system that "sits on top" of the Jedi skill boxes. Unless we wipe the FRS entirely and turn it off during the respec period, Jedi will not be able to alter their player templates.

•  All FRS ranking, skills and titles will go away (Knight/Master titles will stay). The Knight Trials will be turned off. We intend to bring FRS back as soon as possible, and will be making improvements to the system while it is offline.

The Character Respec Process

When you log in to the game you will receive a pop-up box. This box will give you a brief explanation of the respec process as well as the slash command to re-access it at a later time if you choose. You will then see an option to be taken to the respec screen. The selections on this screen are:

•  Never

•  Later

•  Yes

If you choose never, you will still have access to the initial screen by typing in /respec

•  If you choose later, you will receive the pop up box on your next play session.

•  If you choose yes, you will be taken to the respec screen.

The next screen contains a lot of information so be sure that you read it ALL before progressing. There are automated help bubbles to assist you with this process.

The respec screen looks similar to the skill tree. You will manipulate your skill points on this screen. The only skills that will be able to be respec'd are the combat skills.

Players may respec their skills once every 12 hours for two weeks from the initial login for Combat Upgrade - however there may come a time where we may need to withdraw this down the road.

Professions that can respec:

•  Brawler

•  Marksman

•  Scout

•  Fencer

•  Pike

•  Swordsman

•  Teras Kasi

•  Carbineer

•  Rifleman

•  Pistoleer

•  Commando

•  Squad Leader

•  Bounty Hunter

•  Bio-Engineer

•  Doctor

•  Combat Medic

•  Ranger

•  Jedi

•  Creature Handler

•  Smuggler

•  Medic

The Level Each Color Represents in the Creature / NPC "Con" Color Chart

•  Grey - Too low - Minimal experience, not worth fighting.

•  Green - A small amount of experience, should be an easy fight, could be trouble if there are more than 1 or 2 opponents.

•  Blue - Ideal target, decent experience 1 on 1, but could be tough if there are 2 or more opponents.

•  White - Even Target 1 on 1; good fight

•  Yellow - Dangerous fight; stronger than you, but you might win. Good luck!

•  Red - Very dangerous fight. Unlikely you will beat this opponent

•  Purple - Certain Death

Vendors / Vendor Search

•  Items that are on vendors need to be removed from the vendor and relisted in order to show the proper stats

Known issues - We will be publishing a hotfix once they pass internal testing

•  Some low-level creatures and NPCs have old weapons with added elemental damage, so they can do twice the expected amount of damage.

•  Pets sometimes run away from their masters. They usually return quickly, and tend to do it right after combat ends. Make sure you confirm your pet is where you expect it to be before you start that next battle!

•  Weapon certifications have a bug where some low level weapons require high level certifications, making them not very useful.

•  Targets in space have a big red health bar over them, like targets on the ground. Just makes space a bit ugly.

•  Krayts and other mobs are not entering the world at the correct level

Hints and Tips from the Community

•  Remember that everything has changed.

•  Treat it just like you are playing a new game and having to learn about it.

•  Many of the special abilities are on different timers. Pay attention how long your special abilities take to complete and which "cool-down" groups they are in. Then, you can time your attacks so that while one attack is "cooling down", you can use your other attack to stay in the fight!

•  Don't SPAM! Combat is different and you need to pay attention to what is going on

•  Know your recoveries!

•  Keep an eye on that Action Bar!

•  Don't "assume" that specials will do what they did before the upgrade.

•  Use the Line of Sight, use the -ROOT- Attacks, and make sure before going in understand that your first move my not be the right move all of the time.

•  Always consider adding your state recovery abilities on your toolbar for fast access - - especially Knock Down Recovery.

•  After traveling, make sure to store your vehicle before entering combat. It can save extra wear and tear on it by preventing NPC's and creatures from attacking it if you leave it out in the world.

•  If you are incapacitated, be sure to turn your auto-attack off while laying on the ground otherwise when you get up your attack will go off and you could be incapacitated again by getting the attention of an angry creature or NPC!

•  If you turn combat spam to brief mode (options->misc), you can drag the combat tab to its own window and make it small, you can have a nice view of combat taken/delivered without sacrificing the chat window. To enhance this, set up sentence colorization to your name and you can differentiate yourself from other people in combat.

•  See your local chef for Dustcrepe and Jaar; they can provide an instant cure for Disease and Poison, respectively. These will be useful to have around for combatants without a Doctor present. Your local chef can also provide Cavaellin Cremes and Starshine Surprise! Both of these will decrease incapacitation time. While you respec your character, you can save yourself some time in the respec window by double-clicking on the skill boxes you want to take, instead of clicking on it and selecting 'add'.

•  Listening to an entertainer for a few minutes will give you a percentage bonus to most forms of experience gain for several hours. New players/characters: be sure to listen to an entertainer or pick up entertainer yourself - - it works in camps out in the field too!

•  If you're getting lower than expected damage with your typical weapon, swap over to a weapon with the other damage type (kinetic/energy) if you have one. It often makes a big difference.

•  Watch your action/mind bars! If they drop too far, your auto-attack will shut down and you'll need to re-attack! The fastest way to die is to just be standing there because you didn't realize that you weren't attacking.

•  If you have medic skills, using them in a fight can buy you time to get your action bar recharged. If action gets low, slap down heals for a few cycles to give it a chance to recharge; they drain little enough action that your regen will outpace the amount they use, and the heals will mostly counter or even outpace the damage you're taking.

•  If your target BAFs, run and gun. The friends will eventually drop away and you can finish your target.

•  You can no longer solo a Krayt, so don't try!

•  When you see a RED con, it REALLY means you will not win!

•  Weapons have Max ranges, use your "roots" and "snares" to your advantage

•  Deathblow - Creatures and NPCs who perform deathblow will currently do them every time, and from range. You need to be careful out there!

Under the old system, a resource's final value for an attribute was the position its rating had between the minimum and maximum possible attribute value for any resource that could go into that slot. Now, it is only relative to the maximum. This will generally improve the value of all resources, especially high-end resources which have high minimum values, especially when used in slots that have very strict requirements. So, for example, assume Frobozium steel has a toughness range from 750-850, and also assume that this steel is being used in a slot which specifically requires Frobozium steel. Under the old system, a particular frobozium steel with a toughness of 800 was considered 50% tough. Under the new system, it will be 94% tough (800 / 850). This change is now also reflected in the visual toolbar.

You may also begin the respec process at your leisure by using the command "/respec".

Major Features

Multi-Passenger Vehicles

Multi-passenger vehicles have been added to Star Wars TM Galaxies!  There are a total of 7 vehicles that now have ground-based, multi-passenger functionality.

Existing Vehicles

Previous versions of these vehicles will now have multi-passenger capabilities.  For example, if you already own an X34 speeder, your vehicle can now carry another passenger!

·  X31

·  X34

·  Flash Speeder

·  AV-21

New Vehicles

·  Master Artisans craft these new multi-passenger vehicles (in addition to existing vehicles).

·  AB-1 (new)

·  XP-38 (new)

·  V-35 SoroSuub Carrier (new) also known as "the Lars family speeder" can carry up to six passengers!

Multi Passenger Commands

·  /offerRide -- asks the target player if they would like to accept a ride.  This command also appears on the radial menu.  The "offer ride" menu will not show up if the target passenger is already mounted onto the vehicle.

·  /acceptRide -- Passenger accepts the ride.

·  /declineRide -- Passenger declines the ride.

Once a passenger accepts the ride, they are placed inside the vehicle and can ride along.  Passengers can click on the vehicle to get the Enter/Exit Vehicle menu, which will drop them out of the vehicle.  Drivers will be unable to kick people from the passenger group until they exit the vehicle.  When the driver of a vehicle exits the vehicle, everyone else in the passenger group will too.

New Player Tutorial

Star Wars Galaxies is getting a new quest-based Tutorial and New Player Experience!  Now, the new player experience starts at the beginning with character creation.  Players will still be able to choose from a selected set of clothing choices for their new character.  Players will no longer choose a profession and start the game with all of the novice boxes trained.  Starting in the space station, new players will learn the basic skills of moving, shooting, and communicating.  Once they have mastered those basic skills they are taken to Mos Eisley where their mentor, Trehla Keelo, will train them in the fundamental systems of the Star Wars TM Galaxies experience. They may then move on to a fully directed story based quest that teaches them  the basics of their chosen profession, while they uncover what is going on in Mos Eisley and earn their first badges!

Character Transfer with Items

·  The character transfer service will now optionally include some items in the player inventory.

Other Publish Notes:

[DEVL]

·  Players may occasionally start seeing a "[DEVL]" text message in their chat window.   If you see this message in the game during a time when you are having a problem and send in a /bug report, please include the complete name of the string you receive with [DEVL].  If possible, please let us know what you were doing at the time.

Art

·  Fixed an issue with the Kashyyyk Bantha's mouth.

·  Asteroid hit effects no longer extensively clip into other asteroids.

Artificial Intelligence

·  As a player becomes higher in level than an NPC or creature, the aggro radius vs. the AI becomes smaller. A gray con will never aggro. The exception to this is Imperial and Rebel NPC enemies who will still have a full aggro radius.

·  Creatures and NPCs will stop combat with players when they enter any player owned structure. Prior to this, creatures and NPCs only stopped combat when entering a private player structure.

·  Fixed a case where players would stay in combat when traveling from a ground zone to any other zone.

·  Fixed an issue where attacking NPCs would aim and then lower their weapon between attacks

Avatar

·  Updated the personal light functionality to automatically turn the personal light on at night and off during the day unless the player has toggled it - then it is left alone for the remainder of the session (press CTRL-L to turn your personal light on and off

·  Attempting to move forward by using a keyboard control or by using the mouse while also trying to move backwards using the keyboard at the same time will result in the avatar moving backwards.

·  If you are using the MMORPG(Modeless) keyboard controls, it is now possible to camera orbit around a character that's mounted on a vehicle.

 Client Stability

·  Improved client stability

Combat

·  You can now /con another player

·  Attacking a lair will put you in combat for a short period of time

·  Fixed an issue that caused mission generated NPC's to spawn with higher than intended statistics

·  Fixed an issue that caused combat spam to not display correctly for auto-attacks

·  Fixed an issue with combat states. If a creature or NPC is chasing you, you will now be in combat. Previously there were cases where you would not hear combat music, but a creature or NPC would be chasing you

·  A 5 second warm-up, 1 second execution time, and 5 sec cool-down has been added for the deathblow ability

·  Creature damage ranges are now larger but average damage done remains the same.  This was done to help tankers take less damage on average than the other professions so they may better fulfill their role in combat

·  Buff bars will properly display buffs

·  Buffs should now be removed from players upon death

·  You should no longer be able to use a stimpack when you are at full health

·  Recyclers will now be craftable again

Creatures

·  Krayt Dragons have had their difficulty increased.

·  Bio-Engineer Pet Stats fixed to have an effect on function

·  Each of the following DNA traits now affect new attributes:

·  Hardiness: Health

·  Endurance: Health Regen Rate

·  Fortitude: General Protection (Base Armor)

·  Dexterity: Defense Value

·  Cleverness: To Hit Value

·  Power: Min/Max Damage

·  Courage: Aggro generation bonus added to normal attacks.

* This doesn't reduce the chance the state effect will be applied, but reduces the amount it impacts the pet's ability to fight. Dizzy, for example, makes the pet less likely to hit and more likely to be hit. A dizzy pet with high state resist will fight better in that condition.

Profession: Creature Handler

June 8th, 2005

Following the Combat Upgrade publish we allowed players with combat oriented characters to reallocate the skill sets on their characters enabling a player to switch profession templates.  Some players missed the window provided in which to make these changes and we are going to re-open it one more time to allow players who had active characters before that publish to change their character's profession template.

On June 8th, 2005 at 4:00 AM PDT all servers will be taken down so we can apply a final respec opportunity to all characters that are eligible. When logging in you will receive the following message:

Important Notice: You Can Not Change Your Character Template After This Play Session!

Your ability to adjust or respec your character template will end when you log out of this play session.  Right now, you can still change your character's profession template ("/respec").  Please be sure that you have your character template configured exactly as you want it before logging out of this play session as you will not be given another chance to change it.  Once you log out of this session, your character template will be set and will not be able to be changed by Customer Service or any other intervention other than regular game play.

Thank you.

·  Altered TKA special ability animations (Fan Fest)

·  Fixed bug where Guild Elections were constantly recycling (Fan Fest)

·  Ore mining units now come 5 to a crate, instead of 1 to a crate. (Fan Fest)

Respec Token

·  What is the Token Respec In order to offer players a final opportunity to adapt their character's profession template, we are offering one final chance to revise your character's template. We are calling this the Token Respec process. As part of this process we are putting an invisible marker on each character which allows the character skills to be reshuffled. After the character template is revised, meaning when you have confirmed your new template via the system, the token or marker is used and the option to revise/respec is no longer available.

·  Once the new Token Respec option to revise the character template is live in the game, you will be offered a text window upon log in that asks if you are ready for your last Respec.

There are several points to be aware of as part of this process:

·  All existing players (including players who have had character and account transfers) will receive a token allowing for one final respec of the character profession template.

·  You may choose to use your Token Respec upon receipt or to use it at a later date this option remains available for you until you use it unless otherwise notified.

·  Although there is no limit on how quickly you use the Token Respec option, once you commit the template by confirming that it is final you will not have another respec opportunity.

·  If you are still able to revise your character's template in-game as part of the original Combat Upgrade respec option, the Token Respec will not activate until you are out of the Combat Upgrade respec period.

·  Bonus points/unused skill points from the initial Combat Upgrade respec will not be transferred in any way to the new Token Respec opportunity.

·  There is a 12-hour respec timer buffering the use of the Combat Upgrade respec option and the use of the Token Respec option meaning that you cannot take advantage of the new Token Respec option until 12 hours after you use the Combat Upgrade version.

·  During the Combat Upgrade Respec process period, you will not be able to earn Master Badges.

·  After you complete the Combat Upgrade respec process and while you are eligible for the Token Respec you will be allowed to earn Master Badges.

·  Crafting a droid with armor modules will increase its general protection armor value at a greater rate than combat modules, and will also increase the droid's defense value. Armor modules will not affect the droid's to-Hit or min and max damage attributes.

·  Players with older droid deeds and pcd's will be fixed retroactively.

Dueling

·  If either player can currently attack the other, a /duel request will be ignored.

Happy Empire Day!

Publish 19 is jam packed with new features, profession balancing, and bug fixes that were suggested by our Fan Fest attendees and Correspondents.

Empire Day is here!

To celebrate this glorious Imperial holiday, head to Nashal, Talus and speak to the Imperial P.R. Officer at 4311, 5187. To protest against Empire Day, head to the basement of the Anchorhead, Tatooine cantina at 128, -5350 and speak to the off-duty bartender.

Imperial players should find Jeevan Monsul in the Bestine cantina. Rebel players will need to see Veega Madish in the Tyrena cantina and neutral players will have the pleasure of dealing with Tyla Jinn in the Theed cantina. This part of the story will require you to venture in to space so make sure to have your fighter fueled up and ready.

Smuggler - New Slicing Changes!

A "salvage" option now exists on weapon and armor upgrade kits. Using this option will replace the kit with a random component used in the new slicing system.

The "cut blue/red wire" element has been removed from weapon and armor slicing.

While slices to weapon and armor will always succeed, each slice will add a small amount of customization points to the sliced object. Any piece of weaponry or armor may have up to a total of 100 points worth of slices. The better a slice is, the more points it adds to the item until it reaches 100 points.

Each item (weapons/armor) will have a set of customization categories. Each category will require a number of slices of increasing value in order to get the full value of the category. These slices must be applied in order. For example, a weapon will have a category called "Increase Firing Rate" which has a maximum of 4 slices, each of increasing quality. Each of these slices then has a cost and results in an increase in firing rate.

Update Headlines!

·  Big changes to the Creature Handler profession! Pet growth based on XP, a new pet training interface, new pet abilities and more!

·  Two new quest series added! "Catch a Fallen Star" and "Nagem's Jobs".

·  Chapter 4 of "Secrets of the Syren" is now live!

·  Lighting on all worlds has been updated to be brighter.

Profession : Creature Handlers

Pet Growth Changes

·  Pet growth is now based on experience earned instead of time.

·  Babies now have the same level and stats as a full grown creature.

·  Babies still grow in size as they mature and will be able to be trained with new Pet Abilities that take their stats and capabilities beyond what they were born with.

The pet growth system has been rewritten to give a more engaging play experience that lets you start working with your new pets. Babies have the same level and stats as their parents and will be able to fight along side their master at full capacity from the moment they are tamed.  As a pet fights along with it's master it will earn experience which contributes to its growth (in physical size) as well as gaining the capacity to learn new abilities which can make the pet more powerful in specific ways than a wild creature of the same species would be.

Pet Training Changes

·  A new interface for pet command training has been implemented to make training commands easier and faster.

·  Verbal training of commands works as it has previously worked after selecting a command to train from the new training interface.

The new command training UI will show every command your pet is able to learn as well as the voice command known for each ability.  By selecting a command to train and pressing the "Train" button (or by directly double-clicking a command) will start the voice training.  Voice training works as it has previously worked.  When your pet is ready to learn a new voice command a "?" will appear over its head and you just need to speak the command you wish to train by using spatial chat.  If this is the first time a pet is learning a specific command, it will need to pass a training check to see if it can learn the new voice command.  Once your pet knows a specific voice command changing it will always succeed.

New Pet Abilities

·  Pets tamed from the wild now have a chance to start with an innate Pet Ability.

·  A Creature Handler can learn abilities from their pets and train them to other pets.

·  Pets gain Pet Ability "Slots" and Ability Training Points as they mature to learn new Pet Abilities.

·  Pet Abilities can be taught to pets to allow for combat specialization as desired or for general increases in combat effectiveness.

Pets tamed in the wild can now start with innate Pet Abilities.  These abilities will automatically increase the effectiveness of your pet, but more importantly Creature Handlers can learn those abilities from the pet by fighting with the pet over a period of time.  Once you have learned the new ability from a pet you will be able to train it to your other pets.

As a pet matures they will gain Ability "Slots" and Training Points to learn new Pet Abilities.  You can see the progress to the next maturity level on the Pet Control Device (on your Datapad: CTRL-D) under the heading "Training XP".  This will show you the current amount of XP earned and the total amount of XP required to reach the next maturity level. Experience Points (XP) are earned by fighting opponents.  At each maturity level your pet will grow in size as well gain Training Points and possibly Ability Slots.  Ability Slots will not be earned at each maturity level but the likelihood of earning one will increase as a pet reaches full maturity.  Pets will continue to earn Ability Slots until they have earned the maximum possible number of slots for their level and they will continue to earn Training Points until they have been fully trained.

To train a pet with a new Pet Ability, target your pet after you have called it and use the Train Pet command (/trainPet).  If the Creature Handler knows abilities that can be trained to the pet and the pet has available slots then the Ability Training interface will open.  From there an ability can be selected and the "Train" button pushed to teach the pet the new ability.  Using the Train Pet command with nothing targeted will show a list of all Pet Abilities known by the Creature Handler.

Many Pet Abilities will permanently modify your pet's statistics and capability. Several Pet Abilities are triggered abilities which must be given a voice command the same as any other pet command.

Bazaar / Vendor

·  Resource containers for sale on bazaar terminals or vendors should now display the name of the resource and the quantity from their item description. For example, "Domesticated Corn" should now be displayed as "Domesticated Corn Lodi (200)".

Character

·  Changing your character's profession title on the Community Window (CTRL-P) will now cause the title for your character to be displayed immediately.

·  Personal Light (CTRL-L): Made the player's personal light default to always be turned off, rather than turning it on/off with the day/night cycle. Players can still turn their personal light on or off as normal.

Client

·  Older ATI cards prompted the SWGClientSetup to suggest a URL which no longer exists. The URL has been updated.

Cloning

·  The /clone command will work only if a clone terminal is targeted.

Combat

·  Adjusted combat haste bonuses from Doctor & Jedi buffs due to high haste numbers unbalancing combat.

Crafting

·  Agitator motors used in recyclers can now be crafted properly.

·  During the experimentation phase of crafting, the object being crafted will now update its properties in a reasonable amount of time. Previously this took approximately 10 to 15 seconds and would make it appear as if your experimentation had no effect on the object.

·  When the item count of a resource container changes, the examine information should change as well. The examine information for crafted objects and containers should update properly in the appropriate crafting windows.

·  When using items in resource containers or surveying, the item count of the container should update properly if you changed servers or disconnected.

·  Resource stacks in your inventory will now update their quantity when combined.

·  Objects will update properly in the examine window during the experimentation phase.

·  The examine information of split or combined resource containers will display properly.

·  Players are now able to craft the tumble blender.

Force Sensitive Village

·  Force Sensitive Quests: The initial Sith Shadow waypoint datapad will now always be useable as soon as it has been looted.  It will no longer display a "You must first loot that object" message.

·  The Sith Shadow waypoint datapads are no longer usable in space.

·  Altered conversion rate of Combat XP at Force Sensitive village.

Misc.

·  The slash command /clientQualifiedForSkill no longer auto grants skills on test servers and no longer triggers an effect in the game.  This command was originally created for Combat Upgrade testing but no longer serves a purpose within the game.

Padawan Trials

·  NPCs will no longer disappear before players have had a chance to interact with them.

·  Improved the grammar and spelling for some of the NPC dialogue.

Player Event Perks

·  Many static Event Perk rentals such as flags and banners have had their placement restrictions dramatically reduced to allow much more flexibility when decorating for events.

·  All Event Perk rental venues now include a Venue Remote Control that allows its owner to re-deed the venue and check its time until expiration.

·  The Capture the Flag game will no longer allow an attempted flag capture if you are under the influence of Force Cloak, Cover, Feign Death, Paralyze or Stasis.

·  Event Perk rental expiration timer now begins when the rental deed is used, rather then at the time of purchase to allow event planners more flexibility in setting up their events.

·  Event Perk rentals now expire in 16 hours, rather then 8 in order to allow event planners more flexibility in setting up their events.

Profession: Bounty Hunter

·  Significantly altered NPC bounty mission NPC's and Loot. The higher the level of the Bounty Hunter increases the chance of seeing a higher level or Elite Mark. Master Bounty Hunters who are also greater than level 75 will have a small chance to draw a Boss Mark. The difficulty of the Mark will determine the quality of loot and chance of the loot to drop.

·  An NPC spawned for an NPC bounty mission can only be attacked by the bounty hunter with the NPC bounty mission.

·  Added more text to the seeker droid's examine information window to clarify the droid's options.

·  Using the "Identify Target" option on a Bounty Hunter seeker droid will return information to you on the name and waypoint of your mark.

·  Using the "Track Target" option on a Bounty Hunter seeker droid will constantly update information on the waypoint of your mark.

·  Increased the amount of Bounty Hunter seeker droids in crates.

·  Increased the amount of charges on Bounty Hunter seeker droids.

·  The Track option on seeker droids will now consume a droid charge.

·  Bounty Hunters that have completed a Jedi Bounty mission will have their mission Temporary Enemy Flag (TEF) cleared and will not be able to continue attacking the Jedi.

·  Bounty Hunters that have completed or dropped a Jedi Bounty mission will no longer be able to attack the Jedi.

Profession: Combat Medic, Doctor's and Medics

·  The Advanced version of Bacta Shot, Bacta Toss, Bacta Spray, and Bacta Jab will now heal more damage than the Improved or standard version of the same ability by a medic with the same Healing Efficiency.

·  Players will always use the best version of the bacta heal available to that player.

Profession: Dancer, Entertainer, Musician

·  If you have been denied service from an entertainer, you will no longer be able to pay a cover charge for inspiration buffs.

Profession: Doctor

·  Adjusted Doctor buff durations to improve the usefulness of Doctors in groups.

·  Doctors should now have full accuracy certifications on Battle armor.

Profession: Scouts and Rangers

·  Grey-con (considered) mobs will no longer break scentMask or camouflage kits.

·  Lower-level creatures that break scent-mask or camouflage kits, will only attack from the same distance as they would have had the player not been concealed (rather than attacking immediately).

Profession: Shipwright

·  A KSE Firespray Schematic can no longer be used to reverse-engineer a zero-mass spaceship component.  When a player's ship is launched, if there are any zero-mass components, their mass will default to a value of 50,000.

Profession: Smuggler

·  Bio-Linked items should now be able to be sliced.

·  Weapons with power-ups can no longer be sliced.  You must remove the power-up before you can slice the weapon.

Profession: Tailor

·  When crafting clothing items, only valid color palette choices will be displayed during crafting.

Quests

·  Two new quest series added! "Catch a Fallen Star" and "Nagem's Jobs".

Catch a Fallen Star: On Yavin IV the Rebels are fighting a desperate delaying action as they attempt to get their last elements off the planet. In the midst of this chaotic fighting, both the Rebels and Imperials are salvaging as much of the fallen Death Star as they can. Of course some undesirable elements have moved in to take advantage of the situation. Criminals, both great and small, have started their own operations to salvage as much as they can, and then to sell what they get to the highest bidder.

Nagem's Jobs : Nagem Dr'Lar has been hired by the Imperials as a civilian contractor to salvage as much of the Death Star as possible around an area known as the Scorch. He has been fighting off criminal groups trying to get to the salvage before he can.

1.      There is room in the vehicle.
2.      If they are in the same group.

·  Profession Commando: As some of you may know, Helios has been working with Keldarin and JFreeman to get the community's input on some of the requested commando changes. Today, we have some very exciting update notes for you so we thought we'd call these changes out to your attention.

·  AI Specials: We are improving the variety of attacks available to NPCs in SWG. We have heard feedback from players, asking for more variety and strategy in NPC behaviors (for instance, having Dark Jedi and Night Sisters use force powers), and agree with that feedback 100%. NPCs that use appropriate tactics and strategy will make the combat experience in SWG the best it has ever been.

Squad Leader Enhancements

Publish 24 will be bringing you significant changes and enhancements to the Squad Leader profession. The goal of these enhancements is to maintain the essence of the Squad Leader skills, leadership and group enhancement, while making the profession more robust and entertaining to play.

Here's just a few of the things that we've changed:

·  Squad Leaders no longer need to be the group leader to benefit the group.

·  Multiple Squad Leaders can combine their skills for greater group enhancement.

·  New group buffs that give Squad Leaders more control and flexibility for how they enhance the group.

·  All passive abilities changed to more easily used and understood active abilities.

·  New group waypoint ability

The changes and enhancements are all intended to better allow a Squad Leader to enhance and lead their group. Lots of new abilities have been added and most of the existing abilities have been changed. The most useful of the existing abilities have stayed the same though their names may have been changed to keep things a bit more cohesive. The Squad Leader skill set concentrates solely on group enhancing abilities, while they do include a full set of combat skill mods (defense, accuracy and speed) a Squad Leader is still strongly encouraged to pick up another combat profession skill set to flesh out their combat abilities.

All the passive abilities of the Squad Leader have been removed and changed to active buff abilities. This will make it easier to understand exactly what benefit is taking affect when. Also Squad Leader's no longer need to be the group leader for their abilities to take affect. This allows them more flexibility to benefit the group even when they are not the "official" leader as well as allowing multiple Squad Leaders in a group to combine their abilities.

Squad Leader New Group Buffs

The buff system has been enhanced to allow group buffs. The core of the Squad Leader abilities are based on these new group buffs. Any group buff that a Squad Leader has active will automatically take affect on all the members of the group. The Squad Leader group buffs have been designed so only one buff can be in effect at a time so care will need to be taken by the Squad Leader to make sure the most important enhancement is active when it is most needed. Multiple Squad Leaders can have different group buffs active and they will all stack.

·  Steady Aim (Strategy I) - Enhances group accuracy.

·  Call to Arms (Strategy III) - Enhances group armor ratings.

·  Volley Fire (Strategy IV) - Gives group members the chance to bypass enemy armor.

·  Tactics (Tactics I) - Enhances group defenses.

·  Blaze of Glory (Tactics III) - Gives or enhances the chance to score a critical hit.

·  Double Time (Tactics IV) - Reduces cooldown times for group members.

·  Boost Morale (Leadership IV) - Enhances group Action/Mind regeneration.

·  Form Up (Mobility II) - Enhances group movement speed.

·  Retreat! (Mobility III) - Significantly enhances group movement speed for a short duration. Prevents all other combat actions.

·  Charge! (Mobility IV) - Significantly enhances group movement speed for a short duration. Places the Squad Leader at heightened risk by reducing their defenses.

Squad Leader New Individual Buffs

In addition to the ability to enhance overall group performance a Squad Leader can choose to place their attention towards a single group member to give them even greater benefits than the general group enhancements. Like the group buffs these enhancements are designed to only allow one to be in effect at any one time though multiple Squad Leaders can combine their abilities for increased enhancement.

·  Toughen (Tactics II) - Increases the armor rating of a single group member.

·  High Yield (Strategy II) - Increases the damage output of a single group member.

·  Verbal Assault (Leadership II) - Increases the amount of aggro generated by a single group member.

·  Combat Feint (Leadership III) - Decreases the amount of aggro generated by a single group member.

New Squad Leader Abilities

Finally a few completely new abilities have been added to the Squad Leader repertoire to flesh out their combat utility plus a couple of the original Squad Leader abilities have remained while others have had their names or effects changed slightly.

·  Group System Message (Novice SL) - Sends an on screen system message to all group members. (Same as previously.)

·  Called Shot (Novice SL) - Significantly increases the accuracy and damage of the next attack to the designated target. Only works for one attack and then must be reapplied. The accuracy and damage bonus increases as the Squad Leader learns more skills.

·  Rally Point () - Creates a waypoint for all group members. (Functions similar to the /waypoint command.)

·  Paint Target (Leadership I) - Increases the accuracy and damage for all attacks to the painted target in the next 20 seconds (Same as old Volley Fire.)

·  Second Chance (Master Squad Leader) - Equalizes all damage and wounds across all group members in the area. This ability has a very long recharge time.

Profession Commando

As some of you may know, Helios has been working with Keldarin and JFreeman to get the community's input on some of the requested commando changes. Here are some of the things that Commandos can look forward to in this update:

·  Heavy weapon AOE damage % is now displayed on weapons that have splash damage.

·  Fixed an issue where commando Area-Of-Effect weapons wouldn't give AOE damage.

·  Heavy weapon AOE damage percentage is now explicitly determined by the maximum range of the weapon. Longer range weapons have smaller AOE damage %.

·  Decreased the AOE range of commando grenades, should aggro less mobs now.

·  Fixed an issue with grenades where the AOE radius of a grenade would be centered on where the attacker was instead of where the target was.

·  Increased damage on all commando grenades.

·  Slightly increased the chance of grenade effects sticking to their targets.

·  Slightly increased the chance of some heavy weapon state effects sticking to their targets.

·  Slightly increased the effect duration for some heavy weapons.

·  Increased crafted grenade stack size from 5 to 10.

·  Added 4 combat specials for Commandos (3 levels each).

·  These specials are:

·  Demolition Shot : This ability gives a damage bonus against droids and buildings.

·  Focus Fire : This ability decreases the area of effect on AOE weapons & gives a damage bonus. The damage bonus is only for non-AOE weapons.

·  Dead Bang Shot : This ability decreases the range of an AOE weapon & gives a damage bonus - damage bonus only for non-AOE weapons.

·  Overkill Shot : This ability has a long warmpup/cooldown but gives a great damage bonus. This damage bonus is for non-AOE weapons.

AI Specials

We are improving the variety of attacks available to NPCs in SWG.

The changes are designed to address this issue. Force Sensitive NPCs will use force powers, basic NPCs will use special attacks more intelligently, and high-level NPCs will use high-level special attacks.

Key to this effort was the playtest and feedback from Test Center - to ensure that the game difficulty does not substantially increase (except perhaps versus those very high-end Boss and Elite encounters). We're planning on adding several new and interesting loot items into the game, to coincide with the increasing challenge of some encounters, while balancing the baseline damage ranges from normal NPCs to ensure the overall difficulty level of the game does not increase.

Other changes in Publish 24:

Movement Buffs and Snares stacking in combat

In publish 24, we will be making some changes to the way movement buffs and snares stack in combat.

·  What is changing? We will be changing the way movement buffs and snares stack in combat. "Stacking" buffs means that multiple effects of the same type are used (or applied) in combat to cause a greater effect.

·  Who is affected by this change? This change will affect anyone who uses movement buffs and/or snares.

·  Why is this changing? This will address current gameplay issues and will prepare the way for future Squad Leader enhancements.

·  Can I get some more specific details? The current situation: Currently movement-buffs and snares stack in combat. A basic example of what this means is that if you get a movement-buff to double your speed and then get "snared" in combat to half your speed, your movement will be reduced back to your normal movement speed. Basically, a movement buff cancels a snare and a snare cancels a movement buff. Many types of movement buffs and snares can be used together to cause additional effects. For example, two or more movement buffs will "stack" to cause you to go very fast and multiple snares will stack and can prevent a player from moving. Additionally, snares will stack to quickly prevent all movement. A single snare would cut your movement in half another snare to reduce your movement in half would give you a movement of zero.

·  We are changing this so that: Only one temporary movement buff or effect can be active on a character at one time and movement enhancers will be overwritten by snares (in other words, one will cancel the other).

All buffs that modify movement will continue to stack as normal; however the movement effects will be handled so that only one is in effect at any given time.

For example, a movement buff could make your character move at x2 speed. If your character gets snared, rather than moving at x1 speed you will now be moving at x1/2 speed (as though you didn't have a movement buff on at all.) When the snare wears off you will return to x2 speed.

Also, snares won't stack. This means that if you are already moving at 1/2 speed when you get hit with a 1/4-speed snare, your movement would only be reduced to 1/4 of your base movement rate, rather than being reduced to 1/4 of your current (1/2-speed) total movement rate. (Total movement rate is calculated by adding up your base movement rate and all of your movement modifiers).

Similarly movement enhancements cannot be stacked. Only the most powerful enhancement will be active, when that one wears off the next most powerful will become active and so forth until there are no further movement buffs are on the character.

Finally there are still a few permanent movement enhancements and snares, things like weapon & armor hindrances or Fleet Footed for pets. These permanent modifiers adjust the Base Movement speed and will always stack with each other.

Publish 25 - Update Notes

Introduction
Publish 25 brings us all some exciting new game enhancements. For quite some time we have heard that our game is not delivering on the promise of a true Star Wars adventure. The enhancements premiering in Publish 25 take our game to an all new level of Star Wars style action making our game play experience feel more like the films and fiction; exciting, story-driven, Star Wars fun. The game plays more like a fast-paced, action-packed Star Wars adventure.

  • Recently our Producer, Julio Torres, posted his thoughts on these enhancements and gave insight into the thinking that drove this development. You can read about it here.
  • If you are looking for a guide on how to respec your character , click here.
Enjoy the new adventure that lies ahead. May the Force be with you!

New Fast-Action Combat

Combat is now more action-oriented and feels like the action-packed combat depicted in the Star Wars movies - the new system is about 4 times faster than the current combat interaction. Movement speeds are fast and weapons fire at incredibly high rates of speed. These high rates of speed for movement and combat bring the Star Wars Galaxies combat experience to life and put players in control of every move and swing of a weapon.

However, ranged combat is not the only way to enjoy this great feature - melee combatants will also attack in similar fashion using the same keyboard and mouse functionality.

Introducing 9 New Iconic Professions - Live the Saga!

Each profession is based on several of the most popular Star Wars characters, giving players the opportunity to follow in the footsteps of their favorite Star Wars heroes... or villains. Developing a character in the chosen profession is still based on story-driven adventuring, questing, and acquiring new skills.

1. Bounty Hunter = Boba Fett
Bounty Hunters chase the worst foes in the galaxy. You will learn to use whatever dirty tricks you must to bring your prey down. When someone needs an enemy taken care of, they hire Bounty Hunters to do their dirty work. Tracking down and eliminating people are what Bounty Hunters do best. As a Bounty Hunter, you must learn the tricks of ambush and assault so your prey does not escape.

General Skills:
  • Ranged Combat
  • Bounty Hunting
  • Melee Combat
  • Capture Techniques
2. Commando = Commander Cody
Need an AT-ST destroyed? Call a Commando! Need a base blown up? The Commando is the one for you! Whether you prefer to get in close or fight at range, Commandos wreak havoc with their powerful weapons.

General Skills:
  • Dancing
  • Musicianship
  • Image Design
4. Jedi = Luke Skywalker

  • Lightsaber Combat
  • Force Powers
  • Block Blaster Bolts

5. Medic = 2-1B
Medics use the powerful healing properties of bacta to keep others alive before, during and after combat. Some medics use their medicinal knowledge to poison or disease while others fight with blasters.

Who knows when a cantina disagreement will get ugly? With the Smuggler's clientele, you would be wise to know how and when to fight dirty.

General Skills:
  • Melee Combat
  • Ranged Combat
  • Dirty Tricks Techniques
  • Fence Goods
8. Spy = Leia as Bounty Hunter Boussh

General Skills:
  • Ranged Combat
  • Stealth and Sneak
  • Assassinate
  • Stealing
9. Trader = Lando Calrissian
A noble profession for those that like to work with their hands, Traders craft items and then sell what they craft to eager folks that need items that they make. Credits can flow into a shrewd Trader's hands if they follow the desires of the market. Traders tend to specialize in one of four fields: Domestic Goods, Structures, Munitions, or Engineering.

Update Notes November 19th, 2005
Version 0.142762

Experience Points

  • Widened the level ranges for allowable experience points so that players can hunt a wider range of NPCs and creatures for their level.

GCW: New Galactic Civil War Point System

In this publish, we are adding a new Galactic Civil War Point System.  Both Rebels and Imperials can earn Planetary Control Points for their side in the war by killing both Rebel and Imperial NPCs and factionally declared players.

Standings in the Galactic Civil War will now be based on the total amount of planetary control points your side has in the war for each of the current planets under contention.  The planets on which you can earn points for your side in the war are Corellia , Naboo and Tatooine .  Again, each of these three planets will have a different point total.

GCW: Gaining and Losing Points in the War

  • You must be declared Special Forces to earn these points.
  • Killing 25 NPC Rebels and Imperials will earn your side 1 point for the planet you are fighting on.
  • Each factioned player (Rebel and Imperial) you kill will earn your side 1 point for the planet you are fighting on.
  • The point scores for each planet will decay an unrevealed percentage every day, so you will need to remain active in the war to maintain the standings for your chosen side.

GCW: Checking the Planetary Control Score

There are "News Net" Terminals placed in Starports on Corellia, Naboo and Tatooine that players can use to determine who is winning the war on the planet they are currently on.  Rebels and Imperials can to determine the actual score by speaking with a Faction Recruiter.

GCW

  • Spawns for Faction Bases are going to be temporarily disabled while we revaluate their overall role in the Galactic Civil War

Profession Respec

  • Fixed an issue that prevented characters from earning experience points (XP) after using the Profession Respec Device.
  • Fixed an issue that prevented a character from getting the profession reward item associated with the last skill box earned when using a respec device.

  • Fixed an issue that allowed Force Sensitive Village quest events to occur.  The old man will no longer make his visits.

User Interface

  • The "Lots Remaining" description has been restored to the personal section of the Character Sheet.
  • HAM Bar tool tips have been updated to display actual points and not percentages.
  • The Profession selection window for profession respecs now covers the screen in all resolutions.
  • Inventory windows should remember settings correctly (size, location, examine info, and avatar display).

Mouse-Only Game Play Feature!

Our new fast-action combat control scheme inadvertently presented a hardship for some without the use of both hands; for this reason we are introducing mouse-only play which allows all movements and abilities to be controlled through the mouse exclusively. This is live in the game right now and can be accessed through the options menu.

This mouse control scheme is for playing on the ground.

How to enable Mouse-Only Play:

1. Open your Options menu (press "O").

2. Click the button that says, "Keymap".

3. On the bottom half of the Keymap window, you will see a list of options.

4. Check the boxes that say:

•  "Middle mouse drives movement" and

•  "Scroll through default actions with mouse."

5. Click the button that says, "Apply" and then "Ok".

Now your mouse-only play feature will be enabled!

Here's how it works:

1.       Left click is still used to fire your weapon.

2.       Right click is still used to trigger your specials.

3.       The middle mouse wheel will scroll through the abilities on your toolbar.

4.       Holding down the middle mouse button will move you in the direction that you are facing.

5.       You can use the "+" and "-" keys on your keyboard to control your camera zoom.

Update Notes December 22nd, 2005

Please Note: Chat window preferences will be discarded when you log into the game for ALL characters.  This was necessary to fix the issue where /tells no longer worked for characters that were created prior to publish 26.

Client Stability Enhancements

  • Fixed many cases of Crash-to-Desktop.

Experience Points

  • Added a Level-Up Life Day orb as loot all throughout the galaxy!  This loot item will grant you 1 level.  This loot item can be found on all types of NPC's and Creatures.

New Player Experience

  • Players will no longer find themselves back in the Medical Bay when boarding the Millennium Falcon.
  • At the end of the trial CD, when players select the "Continue the Adventure" button, the game will exit and your web browser will be started so the full version of the game can be downloaded. You will be asked to log on to your station account and enter your billing information at that time.

Profession: Jedi

  • You will no longer be able to un-equip a lightsaber and switch weapons to use the effect of Saber Block with weapons other than Lightsabers.

Profession: Spy

  • Spies can no longer steal items from most Bosses, but they can still steal loot from all other NPCs.

Quests

  • If you were doing Watto's Droid Head Quest (EV-9D9) you can now get the droid's head from Watto again if you deleted the quest.  You can also get the quest again in case you abandoned it.

User Interface

  • Fixed the issue preventing some players from receiving /tells.  Note: Chat window preferences will be discarded when you log into the game for ALL characters.  This was necessary to fix the issue where /tells no longer worked for characters that were created prior to publish 26.
  • Players should not see any more "Trade Requests" when clicking on other players using the Shoot-Through-Friendlies feature.  To trade with another player, target that player and press the tilde key "~" to bring up your radial menu and make a trade request.

  • Mouse-Only Movement: If you have an empty toolbar slot, you will be able to scroll to all the actions in your toolbar and not just the abilities to the left of the empty slot.
  • Mouse-Only Movement: The mouse-move will now work while moving around inside of multiplayer ships.
  • If you log out to the Character Selection Screen and choose a different character to play, your character will display the proper Profession screen instead of your previous character's Profession.
  • You can now right-click on chat tabs to close them (Menu options - "Delete Tab").
